CarGurus Analysis: 2026 Toyota Highlander
Summary
With 911 currently listed for sale and an average price of $48,717, 36.6% of 2026 Toyota Highlander listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
94.3% of 2026 Toyota Highlander listings on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2026 Toyota Highlander stands out as a comfortable, practical midsize SUV with a long reputation for reliability and everyday usefulness. In this generation, Toyota has focused on making it more upscale and more comfortable on the road, while keeping the formula centered on family-friendly versatility. It also offers both gas and hybrid powertrains, and front-wheel drive is standard with all-wheel drive optional.
What makes the 2026 model especially appealing is how much it can do without losing its easygoing character. It offers up to 84.3 cubic feet of cargo space with the seats folded down, which is one of the best figures in its class. Every Highlander comes with an 8-inch touchscreen, USB inputs, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa, and Toyota Safety Sense is standard. The hybrid version is a strong choice for buyers who want better efficiency, with 35 mpg combined, while the gas model’s turbocharged four-cylinder delivers about 1 to 2 mpg more in every measure of fuel economy than the V6 it replaced.
The tradeoff is that the Highlander still isn’t the most exciting SUV to drive. Its suspension is tuned for a smooth ride, and the steering is generally numb and uncommunicative. Even so, that calm, comfortable personality is part of its appeal, especially for shoppers who value refinement, safety, and long-term practicality over driving thrills.
