Is the 2026 RAM 1500 a good car?

Generally — the 2026 RAM 1500 earns a 4.3/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating, which points to a strong overall showing. The truck’s appeal centers on its broad configuration range, premium interior materials in higher trims, and available luxurious and off-road-ready versions. With 35.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive price if you shop carefully.

Is the 2026 RAM 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2026 RAM 1500’s reliability story leans on its established full-size truck formula: a broad lineup, familiar powertrain choices, and a design that Ram has already refined. The expert review also emphasizes that the Hemi V8 is back for this model year, but it is described as essentially unchanged rather than newly improved. Ram’s performance notes also point to smooth operation from the V8, even if it is not the most powerful or efficient engine in the lineup.

Ram’s Hands-Free Active Driving Assist is included with the Advanced Safety Group II package, and it adds a hands-free driving experience with attentiveness monitoring and warning prompts. If you want a used example, the main long-term ownership risk is choosing a truck whose equipment level or maintenance history does not match your needs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 RAM 1500?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and verify that the truck’s equipment matches the trim you want, especially if you’re shopping lower-priced examples. A pre-purchase inspection is worth prioritizing on higher-mileage trucks or any listing with incomplete service records. Focus on condition, feature content, and whether the truck has the cab, bed, and powertrain combination that fits your use case.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Tradesman models are pretty basic, with cloth seats and lots of plastic trim, while higher trims add more upscale materials such as leather, open-pore wood, and high-end leather surfaces. The lower-end trucks also wear blacked-out grilles, while upper trims get chrome or more detailed fascia treatments.
• Powertrain: The base engine is a 3.6-liter V6 with eTorque mild hybrid assistance, and the lineup also includes the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 and turbocharged 3.0-liter Hurricane inline-six options. The turbocharged six delivers more power and better fuel economy than the Hemi, while the Hemi brings the traditional V8 character many buyers want.
• Safety package: Adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring with trailer coverage, and rear cross traffic alert come standard. Evasive Steer Assist, Intersection Collision Warning, and traffic sign recognition are standard on the Tungsten grade and available on other models through option packages.
• Infotainment: Ram’s Uconnect 5 system includes standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Screen setups vary by trim, with base Tradesman models getting a small 3.5-inch driver display, while higher trims can have larger digital displays and an optional 10.25-inch passenger screen.
• Fuel efficiency: The 3.0-liter Hurricane inline-six delivers superior fuel economy to the Hemi V8, and Ram notes that the turbocharged six gets two additional mpg in a four-wheel-drive truck.

Which 2026 RAM 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2026 RAM 1500 is offered in 10 trim levels: Tradesman, Express, Warlock, Big Horn, Laramie, Rebel, RHO, Limited, Limited Longhorn, Tungsten.

Here's the short version:

• Tradesman: This is the most basic version, with cloth seats, lots of plastic trim, a six-speaker audio system, and a small 3.5-inch driver display. It makes sense if you want the lowest entry point and do not need upscale features.
• Express: This trim sits with the lower-priced models and keeps the blacked-out grille treatment. It is a straightforward step up if you want a little more presence without moving deep into the lineup.
• Warlock: Like the other lower-end trims, it uses a blacked-out grille and standard basic equipment. It suits you if you want a more rugged look without paying for luxury content.
• Big Horn: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more style and a more polished cabin feel without jumping to luxury pricing. The test truck’s nine-speaker audio setup and more visual trim help show where this trim starts to feel more complete.
• Laramie: This trim adds leather and a smarter cabin presentation, including an available two-tone color scheme. It is a strong choice if you want a more upscale daily driver.
• Rebel: This trim is one of the off-road-oriented choices and can be paired with a Harman Kardon audio system. It fits you if you want a more adventurous personality and stronger equipment content.
• RHO: This is another off-road model with its own black grille treatment. It is the pick if you want the off-road-focused character called out in the lineup.
• Limited: This trim brings open-pore wood trim and standard Harman Kardon audio. It is aimed at buyers who want a luxury-leaning truck.
• Limited Longhorn: This trim also gets open-pore wood trim and a more premium cabin presentation. It suits you if you want upscale materials with a more traditional truck feel.
• Tungsten: This is the top trim, with high-end leather surfaces, a unique grille mesh pattern, a 23-speaker Klipsch audio system, and standard advanced safety features such as Evasive Steer Assist, Intersection Collision Warning, and traffic sign recognition. It is the best fit if you want the most luxurious and most fully equipped Ram 1500.

What is the 2026 RAM 1500's resale value?

The current average of $51,103 sits slightly below last year's $55,541.

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer now, but it also means a future seller may need to be realistic about expectations if the market stays loose. The truck’s broad appeal, strong feature content, and premium-trim draw should help support demand, especially for well-kept examples. Trucks with the right configuration and clean history should remain easier to move than stripped or poorly maintained ones.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring with trailer coverage, and rear cross traffic alert come standard across the lineup. Ram’s Hands-Free Active Driving Assist is included with the Advanced Safety Group II package, and it adds hands-free capability with attentiveness monitoring, warning prompts, and a seat vibration reminder if the driver does not respond. Evasive Steer Assist, Intersection Collision Warning, and traffic sign recognition are standard on the Tungsten grade and available on other trims through option packages.

Should I buy a 2026 RAM 1500 or consider a different year?

• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.99% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The Hemi V8 returns for 2026, giving this model year a characterful engine choice.

• At $42,857, the 2025 costs less than the current year's $51,103 average.
• It brought a major update with lots of new tech and new powertrain options.

The bottom line: If you want the Hemi V8 comeback and a broad, well-equipped 2026 lineup, this is the year to target. If your priority is spending less, the 2025 is the smarter value play and still brings a strong feature set.
