There are still tradeoffs. Performance has not been the Outlander’s calling card, and the model’s fuel-economy figures still fall short of the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4 by about three mpg. The Outlander’s cabin is quiet for the most part, but the engine can be loud when worked hard, and Mitsubishi’s limited dealer network may make ownership less convenient than with some rivals.
