New & Used 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLS for Sale nearSaint Paul, MN

Is the 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLS a good car?

The 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLS earns an 7.83/10 expert rating, and it fits best if you want a three-row Mercedes SUV with more passenger room and cargo space than any other model in the brand’s lineup. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

It brings premium interior materials, a comfortable ride, and impressive technology, which line up well with its comfort-focused luxury-SUV mission. At the same time, the GLS asks you to accept a few trade-offs: unimpressive fuel economy and a third row that is not especially easy to enter and exit. It also gives up some cargo space to rivals, even though it remains a strong choice if you value refinement, manageable dimensions, and a rewarding driving experience in a large luxury SUV.

With 36.8% of listings priced as good or great deals, you have a meaningful number of market opportunities to compare.

Is the 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLS reliable?

The 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLS is presented as a refined, comfort-first luxury SUV with a quiet cabin, composed ride, and solid dynamics, which are all traits that tend to matter in long-term ownership. Its turbocharged inline-six powertrain is described as the least powerful engine in the lineup, but it still sounds sensational under hard acceleration and comes with mild-hybrid assist.

The model also benefits from a standard Airmatic adaptive suspension, and the available information frames the GLS 450 as the version most buyers will likely be satisfied with because it balances standard features, comfort, and driving satisfaction well. Mercedes also includes a complimentary one-year subscription to Digital Extras, which adds some ownership value up front.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that this is a complex, high-end SUV, so upkeep and repair exposure can be more consequential than in simpler vehicles.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLS?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 97.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, and pay close attention to how the cabin, electronics, and suspension feel in real-world use. Because this is a luxury SUV with a lot of standard equipment, condition matters as much as mileage, especially on a used example that may have seen frequent family duty or long highway trips.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The GLS 450 is the base version, and it already brings a premium-feeling cabin with standard ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, and dual 12.3-inch displays. Higher trims add more power and opulence, but the base trim is where you should watch for feature gaps relative to the rest of the lineup.
• Powertrain: The GLS 450 uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six with mild-hybrid assist, rated at 375 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic and standard 4Matic all-wheel drive. It is the least powerful engine in the lineup, but it still delivers strong everyday performance.
• Safety package: Nearly 40 safety and driver-assistance systems are standard, including Pre-Safe, Crosswind Assist, Active Emergency Stop Assist, front and rear parking sensors, a surround-view camera system, and Car-to-X Communication. Rear-seat side-impact airbags are optional rather than standard, and hands-free highway driving assistance is not offered.
• Infotainment: The GLS uses dual 12.3-inch displays with standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, standard navigation with augmented reality enhancement, and standard Burmester surround sound with Dolby Atmos. A complimentary one-year subscription to Digital Extras is included.
• Fuel efficiency: The GLS 450 is EPA-rated at 21 mpg combined, and the test drive returned 19.4 mpg on a mountainous route.

Which 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLS trim should I buy?

The 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLS is offered in 4 trim levels: GLS 450, GLS 580, AMG GLS 63, and Maybach GLS 600.

Here's the short version:

• GLS 450: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it already delivers the core GLS experience: a quiet, comfortable cabin, strong standard technology, standard 4Matic all-wheel drive, and the smooth Airmatic suspension. If you want the most balanced version of the GLS without chasing extra power or luxury excess, this is the one to start with.
• GLS 580: Choose this if you want more performance and a more upscale feel than the GLS 450, while staying within the same basic three-row luxury-SUV formula. It suits buyers who want extra muscle and are willing to pay for it.
• AMG GLS 63: This is the performance-focused choice for shoppers who want the most aggressive version of the GLS lineup. It is the trim to consider if driving excitement matters more than value.
• Maybach GLS 600: This is the top luxury play, aimed at buyers who want the most opulence and exclusivity in the range.

Rear-seat side-impact airbags are optional rather than standard, so check the equipment list carefully if that matters to you.

Is the 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLS safe?

The 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLS earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Nearly 40 safety and driver-assistance systems come standard, including Mercedes’ Pre-Safe, Crosswind Assist, Active Emergency Stop Assist, front and rear parking sensors, a surround-view camera system, and Car-to-X Communication. That gives you a broad safety net for everyday driving and parking.

There are two important caveats to keep in mind. Rear-seat side-impact airbags are optional rather than standard, and the hands-on driver-assistance system does not behave like a true hands-free highway setup. In testing, it wandered uncomfortably on curvier roads and also braked harder than necessary in one freeway-exit scenario, so you should treat it as a support system rather than something that replaces active attention.

Should I buy a 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLS or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 97.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• It offers more passenger room and cargo space than any other Mercedes model, while pairing that with a comfortable ride and impressive technology.

Consider the 2027 if:

• It adds a major redesign with a Superscreen cabin, updated styling, and revised powertrains.

The bottom line: The 2026 is the better pick if you want the established GLS formula with strong comfort, space, and a more approachable used-market profile. If you want the newest cabin tech and updated styling, the 2027 is the one to watch, but price-sensitive buyers will likely find the 2026 easier to justify.
