New & Used 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLS for Sale nearAbingdon, VA

Is the 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLS a good car?

The 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLS earns an expert rating of 7.83/10. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

For buyers who want a three-row Mercedes SUV with a three-pointed star on the grille, it is the brand’s most spacious option, with more passenger room and cargo space than any other model in the lineup. It also leans into comfort-focused luxury, with premium interior materials, a comfortable ride, and strong technology helping define its appeal.

The trade-offs are clear: fuel economy is unimpressive, and the third-row seat is not especially easy to enter and exit. It also gives up some cargo space to rivals, even though it remains a strong fit if you value refinement, manageable dimensions, and a rewarding driving experience in a large luxury SUV.

Good and great deals account for 35.9% of listings, which suggests there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLS reliable?

The 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLS is presented as a comfort-focused luxury SUV with premium materials, a composed ride, and a refined driving character, which supports the case for a well-sorted ownership experience. Its turbocharged inline-six powertrain is described as the least powerful engine in the lineup, but it still sounds sensational under hard acceleration and delivers acceptable fuel economy for the class.

Mercedes also includes a complimentary one-year subscription to Digital Extras, which adds some ownership value up front. The main long-term ownership risk for used buyers is that a large, highly equipped luxury SUV can become expensive to maintain once it is out of warranty.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLS?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 96.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on a luxury SUV with a lot of standard equipment and available options. Pay close attention to interior condition, third-row usability, and whether the vehicle’s comfort and technology features are working as intended.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The GLS 450 is the base version, and it uses artificial leather as standard upholstery. Higher trims add more power and luxury, while the GLS 450’s standard setup already includes premium materials, ambient lighting, and a panoramic sunroof.
• Powertrain: The GLS 450 uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six with mild-hybrid assist, making 375 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. It pairs with a nine-speed automatic and standard 4Matic all-wheel drive, and it is EPA-rated at 21 mpg combined.
• Safety package: Nearly 40 safety and driver-assistance systems are standard, including Pre-Safe, Crosswind Assist, Active Emergency Stop Assist, front and rear parking sensors, and a surround-view camera system. Rear-seat side-impact airbags are optional, and hands-free highway driving tech is not offered.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes dual 12.3-inch displays, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, augmented-reality navigation, and a standard Burmester surround-sound system with Dolby Atmos technology.
• Fuel efficiency: The GLS 450 is EPA-rated at 21 mpg combined, and real-world testing returned 19.4 mpg on a mountainous route.

Which 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLS trim should I buy?

The 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLS is offered in 4 trim levels: GLS 450, GLS 580, AMG GLS 63, and Maybach GLS 600.

Here's the short version:

• GLS 450: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers. It already delivers the GLS formula you’re buying for: a quiet cabin, strong standard technology, a comfortable ride, and the brand’s most spacious SUV packaging. If you want the core experience without chasing the highest price, this is the trim to start with.
• GLS 580: Choose this if you want more power and a more upscale feel than the GLS 450, while staying within the mainstream GLS lineup. It suits buyers who want extra performance and luxury without jumping all the way to the ultra-premium models.
• AMG GLS 63: This is the performance-focused choice for buyers who want the most aggressive version of the GLS. It sits above the 580 and is the trim to consider if driving character matters more to you than value.
• Maybach GLS 600: This is the top luxury play for shoppers who want the most opulent GLS experience. It is the trim to buy if your priority is maximum exclusivity and comfort rather than price.

Rear-seat side-impact airbags are optional rather than standard, so check the exact safety equipment on any used example you’re considering.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLS?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and focus on condition and equipment.

• Deal availability: 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,044 listings available.
• Clean inventory: 96.6% of listings are accident-free.

Is the 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLS safe?

The 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLS earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Nearly 40 safety and driver-assistance systems appear on the standard equipment list, including Mercedes’ Pre-Safe, Crosswind Assist, and Active Emergency Stop Assist technologies. It also includes Car-to-X Communication, front and rear parking sensors, and a surround-view camera system.

The main caveat is that rear-seat side-impact airbags are optional rather than standard, and the GLS does not offer hands-free highway driver assistance. The hands-on system works well enough in most situations, but it can wander in more demanding curves and reduce speed too aggressively in some situations.

Should I buy a 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLS or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

• Choose the 2026 if: 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals. Accident-free inventory is excellent at 96.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies. It keeps the GLS’s spacious, comfort-first formula with strong technology and a refined driving experience.
• Consider the 2027 if: It adds a major cabin and powertrain update with more modern tech and stronger engines.
• The bottom line: The 2026 is the better pick if you want the established GLS formula and a more selective shopping environment. If you want the newest tech and updated powertrains, the 2027 is the one to watch; if price matters most, the 2026 still offers the core GLS strengths in a well-equipped package.
