New & Used 2026 Mazda CX-50 for Sale nearSanta Fe, NM

Is the 2026 Mazda CX-50 a good car?

The 2026 Mazda CX-50 earns an 6.2/10 expert rating, and it’s aimed at you if you want a compact crossover SUV that mixes driving enjoyment with everyday practicality. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

Mazda’s own positioning and our expert evaluation both point to the same trade-off: you get style, substance, and spirited handling, but not maximum utility. The CX-50 is described as safe and fun to drive, with great safety ratings, yet it’s also smaller inside than many rivals and can feel let down by a stiff ride, firm seats, and dissatisfying tech.

Cons: Poor fuel economy (Turbo), uncomfortable seats, and outdated technology.

If you value character and road manners more than sheer space or the latest cabin features, the CX-50 makes a strong case for itself. With 43.0% of listings priced as good or great deals, the market gives you a decent chance to find one at the right price.

Is the 2026 Mazda CX-50 reliable?

The 2026 Mazda CX-50 is presented as a well-built compact crossover with a strong safety record and a straightforward mechanical lineup, which supports confidence for everyday use. Its standard all-wheel drive, conventional gasoline engine setup, and hybrid option all point to a familiar ownership experience rather than a complicated one.

The expert evaluation also emphasizes that the CX-50’s driving hardware is tuned for control and consistency, with crisp steering and a suspension that keeps body motions in check. On the downside, the turbocharged version is thirsty, and Mazda doesn’t back the CX-50 with standout ownership perks such as above-average warranty coverage or complimentary scheduled maintenance.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the CX-50’s appealing driving character can come with higher running costs and less comfort than you may expect.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Mazda CX-50?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a turbo model or a higher-mileage example. Focus on ride quality, seat comfort, and infotainment usability, since those are the areas most likely to affect your day-to-day satisfaction.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 2.5 S lineup includes Select, Preferred, Meridian Edition, and Premium, while the Turbo lineup includes a standard trim, Meridian Edition, and Premium Plus. The Hybrid lineup includes Preferred, Premium, and Premium Plus. Base trims are the most likely to leave you with the simpler audio setup and fewer convenience features.
• Powertrain: You can choose a 2.5-liter gasoline four-cylinder, a turbocharged version, or a hybrid system. The base engine makes 187 horsepower and returns 26 mpg combined, the turbo makes more power but can be thirsty, and the hybrid is rated at 38 mpg combined.
• Safety package: The standard i-Activesense suite includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, vehicle exit warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, a rear-seat alert system, and a driver-attention monitor. Preferred models add front and rear parking sensors, Premium models add traffic-sign recognition and automatic speed-limit assist, and Turbo models and Hybrid Premium Plus models add adaptive front lighting.
• Infotainment: The CX-50 uses a 10.25-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but touchscreen use is limited to those phone-mirroring functions. Wireless smartphone charging is standard, and higher trims can add a 12-speaker Bose system.
• Fuel efficiency: The base 2.5 S is rated at 26 mpg combined, the turbo at 25 mpg combined, and the hybrid at 38 mpg combined. The turbo also returned 22.1 mpg on our mixed-driving test loop.

Which 2026 Mazda CX-50 trim should I buy?

The 2026 Mazda CX-50 is offered in 9 trim levels: Select, Preferred, Meridian Edition, Premium, standard trim, Meridian Edition, Premium Plus, Preferred, Premium, and Premium Plus.

Here's the short version:

• Select: This is the entry point if you want the CX-50’s core design and driving character at the lowest price, but it’s also the trim most likely to feel sparse compared with the better-equipped versions.
• Preferred: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds useful everyday equipment without pushing you into the pricier upper trims.
• Meridian Edition: This is the off-road-leaning gas trim, but the content makes clear it’s more about all-terrain tires and image than true trail capability.
• Premium: This is the right step up if you want more comfort and convenience, plus added safety tech such as traffic-sign recognition and automatic speed-limit assist.
• standard trim: This is the simplest Turbo choice if you want the stronger engine without paying for the upper Turbo equipment.
• Meridian Edition: This version is for buyers who want the Turbo’s stronger power with the Meridian look and all-terrain tires.
• Premium Plus: This is the most fully equipped Turbo trim and the one that best suits buyers who want the richest feature set.
• Preferred: This Hybrid trim is the sensible starting point if you want the efficiency advantage without overpaying.
• Premium: This Hybrid trim is the sweet spot if you want a better-equipped hybrid without going all the way to the top.
• Premium Plus: This is the top Hybrid choice if you want the most features and the added safety and convenience equipment.

Should I buy a 2026 Mazda CX-50 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 43.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• It combines strong safety ratings with a fun-to-drive character and only minor changes for 2026.

Consider the 2025 if:

• The 2025 adds a hybrid powertrain and emphasizes style, efficiency, and a near-luxury feel.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2026 if you want the latest version of the CX-50’s style, safety, and driving enjoyment, especially if you’re shopping the market for a good deal. If you’re more price-sensitive and can find a well-kept 2025, that model still offers the same core appeal with a strong efficiency story.
