New & Used 2026 Mazda CX-50 for Sale nearDurango, CO

Is the 2026 Mazda CX-50 a good car?

The 2026 Mazda CX-50 earns an 6.17/10 expert rating, and it’s aimed at you if you want driving enjoyment mixed with everyday practicality. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

It stands out for its stylish design, upscale cabin presentation, and standard all-wheel drive across gas, turbocharged gas, and hybrid powertrains. It also sees only minor changes for 2026, so you’re getting a familiar formula rather than a major redesign.

The trade-offs are clear: the CX-50 is smaller inside than many rivals, the ride is stiff, and the turbo engine is thirsty. If you value character, road manners, and a more sophisticated feel over maximum space or comfort, it makes a strong case for itself.

Good and great deals account for 41.0% of listings, which suggests there’s meaningful shopping room in the market.

Is the 2026 Mazda CX-50 reliable?

The 2026 Mazda CX-50 is presented as a familiar, mechanically straightforward crossover with minor changes for the model year, which supports a sense of consistency for used buyers. Its standard all-wheel drive and conventional gas, turbo, and hybrid setups also point to a lineup built around proven hardware rather than novelty.

The performance notes reinforce that impression: the base engine uses a six-speed automatic, the turbo version follows the same basic setup, and the hybrid uses Toyota-sourced components. That kind of parts-sharing and conventional packaging can be reassuring when you’re thinking about long-term ownership.

Mazda doesn’t add much in the way of ownership perks, though, so you shouldn’t expect standout warranty coverage or complimentary maintenance to soften running costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the turbo model’s thirst and the cabin’s comfort compromises may make ownership less satisfying over time if you rack up a lot of miles.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Mazda CX-50?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

Even with a strong clean-history rate, you should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection. Focus on ride quality, seat comfort, and infotainment usability, since those are the areas most likely to affect your day-to-day satisfaction.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 2.5 S line includes Select, Preferred, Meridian Edition, and Premium trims, while turbo models come in a standard trim, Meridian Edition, and Premium Plus. The base gas trims are the simplest way in, but the cabin presentation and equipment improve as you move up.
• Powertrain: You can choose a 2.5-liter gas four-cylinder, a turbocharged version, or a hybrid. The base engine makes 187 horsepower and returns 26 mpg combined, the turbo makes 227 hp on regular fuel or 256 hp on premium and is rated at 25 mpg combined, and the hybrid is rated at 38 mpg combined.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, vehicle exit warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, a rear-seat alert system, driver-attention monitoring, and post-collision braking. Preferred models add front and rear parking sensors, Premium models add traffic-sign recognition and automatic speed-limit assist, and Hybrid Premium Plus and Turbo models add adaptive front lighting.
• Infotainment: The cabin uses a 10.25-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a 7-inch display for vehicle data. Wireless smartphone charging is standard, and higher trims can add a 12-speaker Bose audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The base gas model is rated at 26 mpg combined, the turbo at 25 mpg combined, and the hybrid at 38 mpg combined. The turbo’s real-world fuel economy can trail its official rating.

Which 2026 Mazda CX-50 trim should I buy?

The 2026 Mazda CX-50 is offered in 10 trim levels: Select, Preferred, Meridian Edition, Premium, standard trim, Meridian Edition, Premium Plus, Preferred, Premium, and Premium Plus.

Here’s the short version:

• Select: This is the entry point for the 2.5 S lineup, so it makes sense if you want the CX-50’s style, standard all-wheel drive, and core safety tech without stretching your budget.
• Preferred: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds useful equipment without pushing you into the pricier upper trims.
• Meridian Edition: Choose this if you want the off-road-flavored look and all-terrain tires, but it’s more about image than real trail capability.
• Premium: This is the trim to target if you want a more upscale feel, since it adds features like traffic-sign recognition and automatic speed-limit assist.
• standard trim: The turbo’s base version is the pick if you want stronger acceleration and don’t need the extra equipment of the higher turbo trims.
• Meridian Edition: This is the turbo trim for buyers who want the same rugged styling theme with the stronger turbo powertrain.
• Premium Plus: This is the most appealing turbo choice if you want the richest feature set, including the added safety and convenience equipment described for the upper trims.
• Preferred: On the hybrid side, this is the sensible starting point if fuel economy is your top priority.
• Premium: This is the hybrid trim to consider if you want a better balance of efficiency and equipment.
• Premium Plus: This is the most fully equipped hybrid and the one to choose if you want the most complete package.

The safety package is strongest on the higher trims, with the most advanced driver-assistance features reserved for Turbo Premium Plus and Hybrid Premium Plus models.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Mazda’s standard i-Activesense suite includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, vehicle exit warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, a rear-seat alert system, driver-attention monitoring, and post-collision braking.

One caveat to keep in mind: testing noted false forward-collision warnings, false lane-departure warnings, and adaptive cruise control speed moderation that wasn’t fully consistent. IIHS also flagged a Poor result in whiplash prevention testing.
