CarGurus Analysis: 2026 Lexus RX
Summary
With 997 currently listed for sale and an average price of $56,651, 35.0% of 2026 Lexus RX listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
94.7% of 2026 Lexus RX listings on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2026 Lexus RX stands out as a luxury SUV that puts comfort, refinement, and reliability ahead of flashier ambitions. Lexus has long positioned the RX as a mainstream choice in the luxury crossover space, and this generation continues that formula with a focus on a smooth driving experience and strong efficiency. It is also notable for offering a broad range of powertrains, including hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions, which gives buyers more flexibility than many rivals.
For 2026, the RX lineup includes a standard powertrain with 275 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque, while the hybrid version is rated at 246 horsepower and 233 lb-ft of torque. The RX 350’s estimated fuel economy is 22/29 mpg city/highway for the front-wheel-drive model, the RX 350h returns 37/34 mpg city/highway, and the plug-in RX 450h+ is estimated at 36/33 mpg city/highway once the battery is depleted. Lexus also equips the RX with a long list of features, including a 9.8-inch touchscreen, tri-zone climate control, a power liftgate, and Safety System+ 3.0. Higher trims add amenities such as ventilated front seats, leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, surround-view cameras, and a hands-free driving function for dense traffic.
The RX’s appeal is strongest for buyers who want a polished, easy-to-live-with luxury SUV rather than one that prioritizes sportiness. Handling is tuned more for comfort than performance, and even the sportier versions are described as not especially sporty. The F-Sport suspension can also hurt ride comfort without delivering much in the way of handling gains. Still, the RX remains attractive because it combines a refined driving character with strong fuel economy, a reputation for reliability, and a feature set that covers the essentials well.

The 2026 Lexus RX is a strong choice if you want a luxury SUV that emphasizes comfort, refinement, and reliability over flashier ambitions. Lexus positions it as a mainstream luxury crossover, and this year’s RX continues that approach with a smooth driving experience, strong efficiency, and a broad range of powertrains, including hybrid and plug-in hybrid options.
It is especially appealing if you want a polished, easy-to-live-with SUV rather than one that prioritizes sportiness. The RX is tuned more for comfort than performance, and even the sportier versions are described as not especially sporty.
With 34.5% of listings priced as good or great deals, the market offers a moderate amount of value for shoppers who are willing to compare carefully.
Is the 2026 Lexus RX reliable?
The 2026 Lexus RX is presented as a luxury SUV with a reputation for reliability, alongside its comfort-focused driving character and strong fuel economy. Lexus also equips it with a feature set that covers the essentials well, which supports its appeal as a practical long-term luxury choice.
For used buyers, that combination points to relatively manageable long-term ownership risk compared with more complicated or performance-focused alternatives.
What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Lexus RX?
Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
You should still run a history report on any RX you’re considering and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the vehicle has higher mileage or a long option list. Focus on overall condition, maintenance records, and signs of wear in the cabin and suspension, since comfort-oriented luxury SUVs can hide expensive upkeep if they were neglected.

Should I buy a 2026 Lexus RX or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2026 if:
- 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
The bottom line: The 2026 Lexus RX is the better path if you want the latest version of this comfort-first luxury SUV and you value a broad mix of powertrains, strong efficiency, and a polished driving feel. If you’re more price-sensitive, a nearby model year may be the better place to start, especially if you can find a well-kept example with the right equipment and a clean history.
