New & Used 2026 Lexus NX for Sale nearPrinceton, NJ

Is the 2026 Lexus NX a good car?

The 2026 Lexus NX earns an 7.00/10 expert rating, and it stands out for its range of powertrains, standard advanced safety features, and fuel-efficient hybrid models. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 9/10. In practical terms, that makes it a strong fit if you want a luxury crossover with efficiency and variety, especially since Lexus also made the hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions more affordable for 2026. The trade-offs are clear, though: the design may be polarizing, the ride quality is poor, and cargo space trails rivals. With 35.5% of listings priced as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2026 Lexus NX reliable?

The 2026 Lexus NX is presented as a compact luxury SUV with a conservative ownership case, and the overview emphasizes the brand’s strong reputation for reliability. The expert review also points to a broad powertrain lineup and a value-oriented hybrid strategy, which can help you choose a version that better matches your long-term priorities. The performance notes suggest the NX’s mechanical setup is straightforward, with familiar turbocharged and hybrid powertrains rather than anything especially exotic. If you’re buying used, the main long-term ownership risk is that the NX’s appeal depends heavily on choosing the right powertrain and trim, since the less efficient versions don’t deliver as much value.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Lexus NX?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and verify that the specific vehicle’s equipment matches the trim you want, since the NX lineup spreads features across multiple versions. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on ride quality, cabin condition, and whether the tech and safety features work as expected. Because the NX’s value changes a lot by powertrain and trim, it’s worth paying close attention to how the car was equipped.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base NX 350 can feel short on luxury relative to the rest of the lineup, while the Premium trim adds heated and ventilated front seats and a power-adjustable steering column. The Luxury grade adds leather upholstery, and the F Sport Handling trim brings adaptive dampers, black 20-inch wheels, a different front fascia, black roof rails, and black window framing.
• Powertrain: The NX 350 uses a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder with 275 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque, while the NX 350h hybrid uses a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid setup with 240 hp. The NX 450h+ plug-in hybrid raises output to 304 hp and offers more continuous electric power.
• Safety package: Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 is standard and includes forward collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, left-turn oncoming vehicle detection and braking, Risk Avoidance Emergency Steer Assist, adaptive cruise control, lane-centering assist, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and traffic-sign recognition. Safe Exit Assist is also standard, while park assist, front cross-traffic alert, lane-change assist, and a 360-degree camera system are available.
• Infotainment: A 9.8-inch touchscreen is standard on base and Premium trims, while a 14-inch display is optional on Premium and standard on higher trims. Wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, and six USB ports are standard, with wireless charging, a head-up display, and a 17-speaker Mark Levinson audio system available.
• Fuel efficiency: The non-hybrid NX 350 is rated at 24 mpg combined, with 21 mpg city and 28 mpg highway. The NX 350h is rated at 40 mpg combined, with 42 mpg city and 38 mpg highway in FWD form, and the NX 450h+ is rated at 36 mpg combined in hybrid mode with 37 miles of all-electric range.

Which 2026 Lexus NX trim should I buy?

The 2026 Lexus NX is offered in 4 trim levels: base, Premium, Luxury, and F Sport Handling.

Here's the short version:

• base: This is the entry point, but the review suggests it doesn’t fully deliver the upscale feel you may expect from a Lexus. It makes the most sense if you want the NX’s core design, safety, and powertrain choices at the lowest price.
• Premium: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds heated and ventilated front seats and a power-adjustable steering column, while also serving as the step where the larger 14-inch display becomes available. If you want the most balanced mix of comfort and tech, this is the trim to target.
• Luxury: This trim is the one to choose if you want the NX to feel more genuinely premium, since it adds leather upholstery. It’s the better pick if cabin materials matter more to you than sportier styling.
• F Sport Handling: This is the choice if you want the most aggressive look and chassis tuning, with adaptive dampers, black 20-inch wheels, and unique exterior details. It suits you best if appearance and a firmer setup matter more than ride comfort.

The standard Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 suite is included across the lineup.

• Clean inventory: 94.5% of listings are accident-free.

Is the 2026 Lexus NX safe?

The 2026 Lexus NX earns a 2025 Top Safety Pick from the IIHS, but it missed the higher Top Safety Pick+ award because of an Acceptable score in the updated moderate overlap front crash test. It also has no published NHTSA rating yet.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 is standard and includes forward collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, left-turn oncoming vehicle detection and braking, Risk Avoidance Emergency Steer Assist, adaptive cruise control, lane-centering assist, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and traffic-sign recognition. Safe Exit Assist is also standard, and available features include park assist, front cross-traffic alert, lane-change assist, and a 360-degree camera system. The main caveat is the lower IIHS moderate overlap front crash result, which kept the NX from the top award.

Should I buy a 2026 Lexus NX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• The 2026 NX gets minimal updates, but Lexus made the hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions more affordable.

The bottom line: If you want the NX’s current mix of styling, safety, and powertrain variety, the 2026 model is the straightforward choice. If you’re price-sensitive, a nearby model year may still be worth a look, especially if you can find the right equipment at a lower asking price.
