New & Used 2026 Lexus GX for Sale nearOklahoma City, OK

Is the 2026 Lexus GX a good car?

The 2026 Lexus GX earns a 7/10 expert rating, and it’s a strong fit if you want a luxury SUV that can tow, carry people, and handle rough terrain. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

The GX’s appeal is built around its off-road focus, its ability to seat up to seven people, its towing capacity of just over 9,000 pounds when properly equipped, and more than 90 cubic feet of cargo space. It also comes with a twin-turbocharged V6 and standard four-wheel drive, so you’re getting serious capability rather than just rugged styling.

The trade-offs are just as clear: fuel economy is poor, getting in and out can be challenging, and the third row is cramped. Even so, if you want a premium SUV that can do real work and still feel useful every day, the GX makes a compelling case. Good and great deals account for 30.4% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2026 Lexus GX reliable?

The 2026 Lexus GX is presented as a rugged, body-on-frame luxury SUV with a twin-turbocharged V6, standard four-wheel drive, and hardware aimed at durability and trail use. That setup points to a vehicle built for demanding use rather than delicate commuting.

Its off-road-focused construction and standard 4WD support the idea that it’s engineered for long-term hard use, and the GX’s utility-first design suggests it’s meant to handle towing, rough terrain, and daily driving without drama. The performance content also shows that its systems are designed to keep the vehicle moving confidently in difficult conditions.

If you’re buying used, the main long-term ownership risk is that a vehicle this capable can be expensive to keep fed, maintained, and repaired if it has been used hard.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Lexus GX?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 98.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the SUV has been used for towing or off-road driving. Focus on wear items, underbody condition, and signs that the vehicle has been used as intended rather than just driven on pavement. Because this model is built around capability, condition matters as much as mileage.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Premium and Premium+ trims are the core luxury choices, while the Overtrail and Overtrail+ versions add the most rugged appearance and trail-focused equipment. The base setup is already well equipped, but the higher trims add more comfort and capability-oriented hardware.
• Powertrain: Every GX uses a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V6 with 349 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and standard full-time four-wheel drive. The Overtrail adds an electronic locking rear differential, Multi-Terrain Select, hill-descent control, and low-speed cruise control.
• Safety package: Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 includes high-beam assist, adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centering assist, and Proactive Driving Assist. Blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, and front and rear parking sensors with automatic low-speed braking are also standard.
• Infotainment: You get a 12.3-inch configurable digital driver display and a 14-inch touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the system includes connected services plus cloud-based navigation through Drive Connect.
• Fuel efficiency: The GX is rated at 17 mpg in combined driving, and testing returned 16.8 mpg on one route and 16 mpg on another.

Which 2026 Lexus GX trim should I buy?

The 2026 Lexus GX is offered in 6 trim levels: Premium, Premium+, Overtrail, Overtrail+, Luxury, and Luxury+.

Here's the short version:

• Premium: This is the entry point if you want the GX’s core strengths without paying for extra luxury or trail hardware. It gives you the standard twin-turbo V6, full-time 4WD, and the GX’s basic upscale utility.
• Premium+: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds more comfort and convenience while staying closer to the lower end of the lineup than the luxury-focused trims.
• Overtrail: This is the trim to choose if you care most about rugged looks and off-road capability. It adds the most trail-focused hardware and is the version most clearly aligned with the GX’s adventurous personality.
• Overtrail+: Choose this if you want the Overtrail’s capability with more equipment and a richer feature set.
• Luxury: This is the better pick if your priority is a more upscale daily driver and you care less about the GX’s trail-first character.
• Luxury+: This is the top luxury choice if you want the most premium version of the GX and are willing to pay for it.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, so you don’t need to move up a trim just to get the core driver-assistance features.

Is the 2026 Lexus GX safe?

The 2026 Lexus GX had no crash ratings released from either NHTSA or IIHS at the time of writing.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

A long list of driver-assistance systems is standard, and most of them are bundled into Lexus Safety System+ 3.0. That package includes high-beam assist, adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centering assist, and Proactive Driving Assist. You also get blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, and front and rear parking sensors with automatic low-speed braking.

Traffic Jam Assist is available as long as the Drive Connect plan is active. During testing, Proactive Driving Assist was helpful, but the automated braking could feel a bit intrusive. Lane-centering also produced some unnatural steering inputs in curves, though they were easy to override.

Should I buy a 2026 Lexus GX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 98.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Lexus reported no changes to the SUV for the 2026 model year.

Consider the 2025 if: The 2025 GX is a stylish, well-rounded luxury SUV with strong off-road ability and good standard tech.

The bottom line: If you want the latest version of the GX and are comfortable with its fuel economy and packaging compromises, the 2026 is the straightforward choice. If you’re shopping with price sensitivity in mind, the 2025 can make sense because it delivers much of the same core appeal and may be easier on your budget.
