New & Used 2026 Lexus GX for Sale near Connecticut

Is the 2026 Lexus GX a good car?

The 2026 Lexus GX earns a 7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

It’s a luxury SUV built for buyers who want serious towing, real off-road ability, and everyday usefulness in the same package. Lexus says it can seat up to seven people, tow just over 9,000 pounds when properly equipped, and carry more than 90 cubic feet of cargo, while the expert summary also highlights its ability to go where few vehicles dare to tread.

The trade-offs are clear: fuel economy is poor, getting in and out can be challenging, and the third row is cramped. Even so, the GX’s mix of capability, cargo room, and easy-to-use technology makes it a strong fit if you want a premium SUV that can do more than just commute.

37.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2026 Lexus GX reliable?

The 2026 Lexus GX is presented as a rugged, body-on-frame luxury SUV with a twin-turbocharged V6, standard four-wheel drive, and hardware built for demanding use. The expert summary emphasizes that Lexus reported no changes for the model year, which suggests a stable setup rather than a fresh redesign.

Its performance content points to a durable, truck-based architecture shared with larger Lexus and Toyota off-road models, and the GX’s off-road systems are designed to handle difficult terrain without drama. The cost-effectiveness discussion also frames it as a Lexus with a stronger reliability track record than some rivals.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the GX’s capability comes with high fuel use and premium running costs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Lexus GX?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 98.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has been used for towing or off-road driving. Focus on wear items that can reveal hard use, and pay close attention to the condition of the cabin, suspension, tires, and underbody.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Premium, Premium+, Luxury, Luxury+, Overtrail, and Overtrail+ trims are all listed, and the + versions mean extra equipment. The Overtrail stands out with rock rails, a head-up display, trailering equipment, and a more rugged appearance, while the base setup still emphasizes utility over traditional luxury.
• Powertrain: Every GX uses a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V6 with 349 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and standard full-time 4WD. The Overtrail adds an electronic locking rear differential, Multi-Terrain Select, hill-descent control, and low-speed cruise control.
• Safety package: Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 includes high-beam assist, adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centering assist, and Proactive Driving Assist. The GX also adds blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, and front and rear parking sensors with automatic low-speed braking.
• Infotainment: Every GX has a 12.3-inch configurable digital driver display and a 14-inch touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the system includes connected services plus a conversational voice assistant.
• Fuel efficiency: The GX is rated at 17 mpg in combined city and highway driving, and testing returned 16.8 mpg on one route and 16 mpg on another.

Which 2026 Lexus GX trim should I buy?

The 2026 Lexus GX is offered in 6 trim levels: Premium, Premium+, Overtrail, Overtrail+, Luxury, and Luxury+.

Here's the short version:

• Premium: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core GX formula with the twin-turbo V6, standard 4WD, and the full safety and tech foundation. It makes sense if you want the GX’s capability without paying for extra luxury or trail hardware you may not use.
• Premium+: This is the best-value choice if you want a more complete daily driver. The + trims add extra equipment, so this is the sweet spot for shoppers who want more comfort and convenience without jumping all the way to the top of the range.
• Overtrail: This is the one to choose if you care most about off-road use. It adds the rugged hardware and trail-focused equipment that make the GX especially capable, and the content specifically calls it the most rugged-looking GX.
• Overtrail+: Choose this if you want the Overtrail’s trail gear plus more upscale equipment. It’s the right pick if you want off-road ability but don’t want to give up as much comfort.
• Luxury: This is the better fit if your priority is a more traditional premium-SUV feel rather than trail focus. It should appeal if you want the GX’s size and capability with a more upscale emphasis.
• Luxury+: Pick this if you want the most equipment and the most polished version of the GX. It’s the top-end choice for buyers who want the fullest luxury experience.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, so you don’t need to move up a trim just to get the core driver-assistance features.

Is the 2026 Lexus GX safe?

The 2026 Lexus GX does not yet have published crash-test ratings from NHTSA or IIHS in the provided data.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

A long list of driver-assistance systems is standard, and most of them are bundled into Lexus Safety System+ 3.0. That package includes high-beam assist, adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centering assist, and Proactive Driving Assist. The GX also adds blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, and front and rear parking sensors with automatic low-speed braking.

One caveat is that some of the assistance systems can feel less smooth than you might want in daily driving. The lane-centering assist can make unnatural steering inputs in curves, and the adaptive cruise control braking can feel abrupt when traffic cuts in.

Should I buy a 2026 Lexus GX or consider a different year?

• 37.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 98.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Lexus reported no changes to the SUV for the 2026 model year.

• The 2025 GX is a stylish, well-rounded luxury SUV with strong off-road ability and useful standard tech.
