New & Used 2026 Lexus GX for Sale nearBrodhead, WI

Is the 2026 Lexus GX a good car?

The 2026 Lexus GX earns a 7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

It’s a luxury SUV that still leans hard into off-road capability, so you get a more rugged personality than many rivals in this class. The GX also brings a roomier cabin than its predecessor, a more conventional liftgate, and a lineup that spans six trim levels, which gives you a wide range of comfort and trail-focused equipment.

The trade-offs are clear: it emphasizes comfort over sporty handling, so it can feel soft and top-heavy on winding roads, and fuel economy trails more traditional luxury SUVs. Even so, the market signal is solid, with 34.8% of listings priced as good or great deals.

Is the 2026 Lexus GX reliable?

The 2026 Lexus GX is presented as a durable, body-on-frame luxury SUV with standard four-wheel drive and a locking center differential, which supports its long-term toughness. Its twin-turbocharged V6 and rugged GA-F platform point to a design built for heavy use, and the expert verdict frames it as a good luxury SUV for serious off-roading and towing.

The GX also benefits from Lexus’ broad standard equipment and a powertrain setup that’s shared with other large, truck-based models. On the cost side, the ownership picture is less rosy because it’s thirstier than some alternatives and carries a major price premium.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that higher fuel costs and more complex off-road hardware can make ownership more expensive than the badge alone suggests.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Lexus GX?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 98% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and verify that the specific truck you’re considering matches the equipment you want, especially if you’re shopping for a trail-focused trim. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on condition, signs of hard use, and whether the cabin and exterior show the wear you’d expect from a vehicle that may have been used off pavement. Pay extra attention to the features that matter most to your use case, since the GX’s trim spread is wide.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes Premium, Premium+, Luxury, Luxury+, Overtrail, and Overtrail+. The core trims lean more toward comfort, while the Overtrail versions add the rugged hardware and appearance that make the GX look and feel most capable. Base-trim buyers should check carefully for the feature gaps they care about, since the higher trims add more upscale and convenience equipment.
• Powertrain: Every GX uses a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V6 with 349 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic and full-time 4WD. The setup is quick enough for a 6.5-second 0-60 mph run, but fuel economy is a compromise.
• Safety package: Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 is standard and includes high-beam assist, adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centering assist, and Proactive Driving Assist. Blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, and front and rear parking sensors with automatic low-speed braking are also included.
• Infotainment: You get a 12.3-inch configurable digital driver display and a 14-inch touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the system includes connected services plus cloud-based navigation and a conversational assistant.
• Fuel efficiency: The GX is rated at 15/21 mpg city/highway, and the combined figure is 17 mpg.

Which 2026 Lexus GX trim should I buy?

The 2026 Lexus GX is offered in 6 trim levels: Premium, Premium+, Luxury, Luxury+, Overtrail, and Overtrail+.

Here’s the short version:

• Premium: This is the entry point if you want the GX’s core strengths without stretching too far on price. It gives you the standard twin-turbo V6, full-time 4WD, and the GX’s broad standard tech and safety foundation.
• Premium+: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more comfort and convenience without jumping all the way to the pricier luxury models.
• Luxury: Choose this if you want the more upscale side of the GX, with a stronger emphasis on comfort and premium cabin features.
• Luxury+: This is for buyers who want the most comfort-oriented GX experience and are willing to pay for it.
• Overtrail: This is the trim to buy if you want the GX’s rugged personality most fully realized. It adds the off-road hardware and trail-focused character that make the SUV stand out.
• Overtrail+: Pick this if you want the Overtrail formula with more equipment and a richer feature set.

Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 is standard across the lineup, so you’re not giving up the core driver-assistance package by choosing a lower trim.

Is the 2026 Lexus GX safe?

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

A long list of driver-assistance systems is standard on the 2026 Lexus GX. Most are bundled together in the Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 package, which includes high-beam assist, adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centering assist, and Proactive Driving Assist.

In addition to that suite, you also get blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, and front and rear parking sensors with automatic low-speed braking. Traffic Jam Assist is available as long as the Drive Connect plan is active.

The main caveat is that some of the assistance systems can feel less smooth than you’d want in everyday driving. The lane-centering feature can make unnatural steering inputs in curves, and the adaptive cruise control braking can feel abrupt when traffic cuts in.

Should I buy a 2026 Lexus GX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 98% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Lexus reported no changes to this SUV for the 2026 model year.

Consider the 2025 if:

• It looks great, drives well, and handles itself incredibly well off-road.

The bottom line: If you want the latest-year GX and the current market looks favorable, the 2026 is the straightforward pick because it carries over unchanged and still gives you the full mix of luxury, capability, and standard equipment. If you’re shopping with a tighter budget, the 2025 is worth a look because its core strengths are already well established and it may offer a better value proposition.
