How much does the 2026 Kia Sportage cost?

Is the 2026 Kia Sportage a good car?

The 2026 Kia Sportage earns an expert rating of 7.33/10.

The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

You’re looking at a compact crossover SUV that emphasizes stylish design, impressive technology, and strong safety ratings. The trade-offs are clear: performance is fairly pedestrian, and the X-Pro Prestige version does not fully deliver on Kia’s usual value reputation.

That makes the Sportage a better fit if you want a practical crossover with a polished presentation than if you’re shopping for something especially engaging to drive. The market also looks reasonably supportive, with 36.7% of listings priced as good or great deals.

Is the 2026 Kia Sportage reliable?

The 2026 Kia Sportage is presented as a competent, long-running nameplate with a current-generation platform that continues to evolve, and the expert writeup emphasizes Kia’s growth and the model’s broad everyday usefulness. Its conventional gasoline powertrain is described as doing just fine, while the hybrid and plug-in hybrid setups are noted as more refined thanks to their turbocharged and electrified torque delivery.

The expert materials also point to strong ownership support through Kia’s 10-year/100,00-mile powertrain warranty and five-year/60,000-mile limited warranty. That warranty coverage helps reduce long-term ownership risk for used buyers, especially if you plan to keep the vehicle for several years.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Kia Sportage?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and inspect the specific vehicle closely, especially if you’re comparing trims with different wheel, tire, and equipment packages. Pay extra attention to tire wear, interior condition, and whether the features you want are standard on the trim you’re considering.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The X-Line model adds different front and rear bumpers and a tread-like stitching pattern for its SynTex artificial leather upholstery, while X-Pro models have all-terrain tires on 17-inch wheels. The base LX trim is the one to watch most closely for feature gaps, since wireless phone charging is not standard there.
• Powertrain: Non-hybrid models use a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 187 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque paired with a six-speed automatic. Hybrid models use a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with an electric motor for 232 hp and 271 lb-ft, while plug-in hybrids increase output to 268 hp.
• Safety package: Standard driver-assist features include adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, lane following assist, and front and rear parking sensors. Higher trims add navigation-linked adaptive cruise control, Highway Driving Assist, a surround-view camera system, and Blind-spot View Monitor.
• Infotainment: A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 12.3-inch touchscreen are standard, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and SiriusXM satellite radio. Wireless phone charging is standard on all but the base LX trim, and X-Line and X-Pro models feature digital key functionality.
• Fuel efficiency: Non-hybrid models are rated at 28 mpg combined with FWD and 26 mpg combined with AWD, while the X-Pro is rated at 24 mpg combined. The hybrid is rated at 42 mpg combined, and the plug-in hybrid gets up to 34 miles of all-electric range.

Which 2026 Kia Sportage trim should I buy?

The 2026 Kia Sportage is offered in 6 trim levels: LX, EX, SX, SX-Prestige, X-Line, and X-Pro Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Sportage experience at the lowest price. It’s the trim to choose if you want the most affordable way into the lineup, but you’ll want to compare its equipment carefully against the higher trims because some convenience features are reserved for the upper grades.
• EX: This is the sensible step up if you want a better balance of equipment and price. It should appeal to you if you want more comfort and convenience without jumping all the way to the premium-oriented trims.
• SX: This is the trim where the Sportage starts leaning harder into tech and premium features. It’s also the first grade where the Harman Kardon premium audio system becomes standard, so it makes sense if you care about a richer cabin experience.
• SX-Prestige: This is the better choice if you want a more upscale version of the Sportage without going into the rugged-themed models. It’s the trim to consider if you want more of the high-end feel and available all-wheel drive.
• X-Line: This is the best-value pick if you want the rugged styling and extra visual distinction without paying for the most expensive version. It adds different bumpers, all-wheel drive, and digital key functionality, making it a strong choice for shoppers who want style and substance together.
• X-Pro Prestige: This is the most expensive and most specialized version, aimed at buyers who want the X-Pro look and capability. It adds all-terrain tires and the most distinctive off-road-oriented presentation, but the expert verdict says it does not fully live up to Kia’s value reputation.

Higher trims also bring more advanced safety tech, including navigation-linked adaptive cruise control, Highway Driving Assist, a surround-view camera system, and Blind-spot View Monitor.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Kia Sportage?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without waiting for a dramatic bargain.

• Deal availability: 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,085 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.80% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 94.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $27,505, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2026 Kia Sportage's resale value?

The current average of $28,147 sits slightly below last year's $31,914.

That price movement suggests the Sportage has softened enough to create a more favorable buying window now, but it also means a future seller may face some depreciation pressure if the market stays soft. If you buy at the right price today, you can help protect yourself from taking the steepest part of the decline later. The strongest resale case will likely come from well-equipped, clean-history examples that remain desirable on the used market.

Is the 2026 Kia Sportage safe?

The 2026 Kia Sportage received the highest Top Safety Pick+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and earns five-star overall safety ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, with five-star ratings in frontal and side crash testing and four-star rollover crash performance.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver-assist features include adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, lane following assist, and front and rear parking sensors. It also adds fatigue warning, rear-seat reminder, and safe-exit-style alerts for oncoming cars or cyclists.

Higher trims add navigation-linked adaptive cruise control, Highway Driving Assist with automated lane centering, a surround-view camera system, and Blind-spot View Monitor. That means you can get a very robust safety package, but some of the most advanced features are reserved for the upper trims.

Should I buy a 2026 Kia Sportage or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.80% compared with last year.
• The refreshed styling, strong safety score, and updated presentation matter to you.

The bottom line: If you want the freshest styling and the strongest safety story, the 2026 is the one to target. If your priority is stretching your budget further, a nearby model year may still make sense, but the 2026 gives you a compelling mix of price softness, inventory depth, and updated appeal.
