Yes — you rate it 5/5, and the expert rating is 8.2/10. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Technology.

The 2026 Kia EV9 stands out as a three-row electric SUV that blends practicality with a distinctive design and a strong technology focus. It is especially compelling if you want an EV that is roomy, comfortable, safe, and well-equipped. The main trade-offs are its high sticker price and the fact that certain Highway Driving Assist behaviors can be intrusive, while the steering wheel also blocks the climate system display.

Is the 2026 Kia EV9 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The EV9’s reliability case is supported by its strong safety and technology execution, plus the fact that it is built around a modern electric powertrain with fast charging and a well-integrated cabin.

The expert review describes the EV9 as a practical, comfortable, and technologically advanced EV, and it notes that the vehicle’s charging and driving systems are generally easy to live with. Kia also offers a no-cost CCS adapter, and the EV9’s charging setup is designed for convenient home and public charging use.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the battery, charging behavior, and driver-assistance systems are functioning as intended before you commit.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Kia EV9?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on an EV with advanced charging and driver-assistance hardware. Focus on overall condition, charging performance, and whether the cabin tech and safety systems behave consistently in real-world use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Light, Wind, Land, and GT-Line are the trims explicitly named here. The base setup is the single-motor rear-wheel-drive configuration, while higher trims add the dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup and more upscale equipment. The GT-Line stands out for its upscale touches, including a simulated suede headliner, ambient interior lighting, and a 12-inch head-up display.
• Powertrain: The EV9 offers single-motor rear-wheel drive or dual-motor all-wheel drive. The single-motor Light can be paired with standard-range or long-range battery packs, while other trims use the long-range dual-motor setup. The GT-Line’s dual motors make 379 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque, and the EV9 can feel quick off the line.
• Safety package: Highway Driving Assist is standard and combines adaptive cruise control, lane-centering assist, and lane-change assist. Forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking add intersection braking assistance, front cross-traffic braking assistance, and oncoming collision mitigation. Blind-spot monitors include steering assistance, while higher trims can add surround-view cameras, blind-spot cameras, low-speed braking, and Remote Smart Parking Assist.
• Infotainment: The EV9 uses triple screens in a curved display layout, including a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Wireless smartphone charging is standard, Kia Connect services are included, and the system supports over-the-air-style connected functionality through its digital services.
• Range & charging: The single-motor Light can deliver 230 miles or 305 miles depending on battery pack, while dual-motor versions offer up to 283 miles. The EV9 uses an 800-volt charging architecture and can DC fast charge at up to 350 kilowatts, with a 10% to 80% recharge in 24 minutes under optimum conditions. The usable battery capacity figures listed here are 76.1 kilowatt-hours and 99.8 kilowatt-hours.
• Battery health: On a used EV, check battery state-of-health, confirm that home charging and DC fast charging both work properly, and review charging habits if possible. You should also verify how much of the battery warranty remains so you know what coverage you still have if capacity or charging issues appear later.

Which 2026 Kia EV9 trim should I buy?

The 2026 Kia EV9 is offered in 4 trim levels: Light, Wind, Land, and GT-Line.

Here's the short version:

• Light: This is the entry point and the only trim with the single-motor rear-wheel-drive setup. It is the trim to consider if you want the most accessible path into the EV9 lineup, and it can be paired with either the standard-range or long-range battery pack.
• Wind: This trim moves you into the dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup and the long-range battery. It is a strong middle-ground choice if you want more capability and range without jumping all the way to the top trim.
• Land: This trim also uses the dual-motor long-range setup and is the better fit if you want a more upscale EV9 experience without going to GT-Line pricing.
• GT-Line: This is the most feature-rich version, with the dual-motor setup, upscale interior touches, a head-up display, and the most premium presentation. It is the best fit if you want the fullest EV9 experience and are willing to pay for it.

Kia offers additional safety and parking tech further up the trim ladder, including surround-view cameras, blind-spot cameras, low-speed braking, and Remote Smart Parking Assist.

Is the 2026 Kia EV9 safe?

The 2026 Kia EV9 earns a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA, and it earned the highest Top Safety Pick+ award from IIHS.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The EV9 comes standard with Highway Driving Assist, which pairs adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assist and lane-change assist. It also includes forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking with intersection braking assistance, front cross-traffic braking assistance, and oncoming collision mitigation, plus evasive steering assist and blind-spot monitoring with steering assistance.

Higher trims add surround-view cameras, blind-spot cameras, low-speed braking for parking situations, and Remote Smart Parking Assist. One caveat is that Highway Driving Assist can behave inconsistently in some situations, which can make it more annoying than helpful on certain drives.
