Is the 2026 Honda Accord a good car?

The 2026 Honda Accord earns an expert rating of 7/10. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

That score lines up with what you get: a roomy midsize sedan with cabin space described as full-size-car-like, more trunk room than its rivals, and a starting price below $30,000. It also brings strong safety credentials and a driving character that’s more engaging than you might expect in this class.

The trade-offs are real, though. All-wheel drive isn’t available, the front seats are described as dissatisfying, and the technology is called unimpressive.

For shoppers who want an affordable, practical sedan with space, efficiency, and safety at the center of the package, the Accord makes a strong case. Good and great deals account for 37.4% of listings, which suggests there’s still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2026 Honda Accord reliable?

The 2026 Honda Accord is presented as a practical, long-lasting sedan that can fit through multiple life stages, from early adulthood to family use and beyond. Its overall positioning emphasizes everyday usability, efficiency, and safety, which are all traits that tend to matter when you’re thinking about ownership over time.

On the mechanical side, the turbo 1.5-liter four-cylinder delivers smooth, consistent acceleration, and the CVT is described as agreeable most of the time thanks to simulated gear changes. The ride and handling are also described as finely tuned, which supports the sense that the car is engineered to be easy to live with.

Honda also includes a wireless smartphone charger as standard for 2026, and the infotainment setup is straightforward to operate. That said, the system can occasionally be finicky about reconnecting with a device.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the Accord’s value proposition depends on getting a well-kept example, since the car’s appeal is strongest when its comfort, tech, and driver-assistance systems are all working as intended.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Honda Accord?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free status is only a starting point. Prioritize a thorough inspection of the cabin, infotainment behavior, and driver-assistance operation, since those are the areas where the car’s value proposition is most tied to day-to-day satisfaction. Pay close attention to overall condition, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one that has seen heavy commuting use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Accord is available in LX and SE trim levels. The SE is the one to target if you want blind-spot monitors and rear cross-traffic alert, since those features are unavailable on the base LX.
• Powertrain: The turbo 1.5-liter four-cylinder makes 192 horsepower and 192 pound-feet of torque, and the Accord is front-wheel drive only. The powertrain is tuned for smooth, consistent acceleration rather than speed.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes high-beam assist, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and lane-centering assist. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are not standard on the base LX.
• Infotainment: Every Accord has a 9-inch touchscreen, a 10.2-inch digital instrumentation panel, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a wireless smartphone charger.
• Fuel efficiency: The Accord SE is rated at 31 mpg combined, while the LX is rated at 32 mpg combined.

Which 2026 Honda Accord trim should I buy?

The 2026 Honda Accord is offered in 2 trim levels: LX and SE.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, but it leaves out blind-spot monitors and rear cross-traffic alert. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and can live without those extra safety features.
• SE: This is the best-value trim. It adds blind-spot monitors and rear cross-traffic alert, and it also gets the more appealing 19-inch wheels that improve the car’s look. If you want the most well-rounded Accord, this is the one to buy.

Honda Sensing is standard, but blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert require the SE trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Honda Accord?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it’s a reasonable time to shop if you’re willing to compare listings carefully and wait for the right example.

• Deal availability: 37.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,793 listings available.
• Clean inventory: 89.0% of listings are accident-free.

Is the 2026 Honda Accord safe?

The 2026 Honda Accord earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in every individual assessment, including rollover resistance. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety calls it a Top Safety Pick.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard and includes high-beam assist, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and lane-centering assist. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are not standard on the base LX and require the SE trim.

One caveat is that the Accord missed the higher Top Safety Pick+ rating because pedestrian detection is rated Acceptable instead of Good. The safety tech also had occasional false lane-departure warnings and one inaccurate forward collision warning in testing.

Should I buy a 2026 Honda Accord or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 37.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• The 2026 model adds a larger standard infotainment touchscreen, additional tech features, and sporty new 19-inch wheels for the SE trim level.

The bottom line: If you want the Accord with the latest tech updates and a strong safety story, the 2026 is the one to focus on. If you’re more price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby model years and shop for the best-equipped example you can find.
