New & Used 2026 Chevrolet Trax for Sale nearColorado Springs, CO

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Trax a good car?

The 2026 Chevrolet Trax earns a 7.67/10 expert rating, and it fits a clear role as Chevrolet’s cheapest new car in the United States. It takes the place of compact sedans and hatchbacks while competing with entry-level crossover SUVs, so you’re looking at a small, affordable vehicle that aims to deliver carlike value with SUV-style utility.

The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

That combination shows up in the Trax’s strengths: it’s described as stylish, pleasant to drive, and equipped with impressive infotainment tech. The trade-offs are just as clear, though, because all-wheel drive is not available and advanced safety features are not standard. Poor ergonomic design is another drawback to keep in mind.

If you want a budget-friendly crossover that emphasizes style, handling, and tech over rugged capability, the Trax makes a strong case for itself. With 37.4% of listings priced as good or great deals, the market also gives you a decent chance to find one at a competitive price.

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Trax reliable?

The 2026 Chevrolet Trax is positioned as a simple, low-cost small crossover, and its mechanical setup reflects that approach. It uses a 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine, a six-speed automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive, with no all-wheel-drive option. The engine is described as eager off the line, confident at higher speeds, and not especially stressed in normal driving.

Chevy also fits the Trax with a conventional automatic instead of a CVT, which helps drivability and avoids the rubber-band feel some shoppers dislike. The suspension is competent enough to handle rough pavement, and standard active noise cancellation helps improve refinement.

For ownership, the Trax comes with a three-year, 36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and a five-year, 60,000-mile powertrain warranty. That helps reduce early ownership risk, but the long-term picture still depends on how well you maintain a small turbocharged engine and how much you value the Trax’s economy-car hardware.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Chevrolet Trax?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re shopping outside the cleanest listings. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and whether the features you want are actually present, since some driver-assistance equipment is only available on higher trims or in option packages.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: LS models are the most basic, with 17-inch steel wheels, cloth upholstery, and an 8-inch touchscreen. Higher trims add larger wheels, nicer interior materials, and more upscale visual details, so base-trim shoppers should pay close attention to feature gaps.
• Powertrain: The Trax uses a 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine with 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic and front-wheel drive only. It’s tuned for everyday drivability rather than performance.
• Safety package: Standard driver-assist features include automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, automatic high beams, and a following distance indicator. Adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and rear park assist are available on higher trim levels in option packages for some lower trims.
• Infotainment: LS models get an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while higher trims upgrade to an 11-inch touchscreen, an all-digital 8-inch instrument cluster, and a six-speaker audio system. Rear-seat USB charging is standard on all but the LS.
• Fuel efficiency: The Trax is EPA-rated at 29 mpg combined, with 28 mpg city and 31 mpg highway.

Which 2026 Chevrolet Trax trim should I buy?

The 2026 Chevrolet Trax is offered in 5 trim levels: LS, 1RS, LT, 2RS, and Activ.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry price and can live with the basics. You still get wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but the smaller screen and simpler cabin make it the most stripped-down version.
• 1RS: This trim adds a more distinctive look and moves you into the better-equipped interior and tech setup. It’s a smart step up if you want more style without jumping all the way to the pricier trims.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for most buyers because it combines the larger touchscreen, digital instrument cluster, and nicer interior presentation without pushing into the highest price brackets.
• 2RS: Choose this if you want the most aggressive RS appearance and the biggest wheel setup in the lineup. It’s more about style than added capability.
• Activ: This is the trim to pick if you want the most rugged-looking Trax, with black-painted wheels, a black grille with chrome accents, and unique bumpers that are meant to suggest skid plates.

Some driver-assistance features are only available on higher trim levels in option packages, so if safety tech matters to you, check the equipment list carefully before you buy.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Chevrolet Trax?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you have room to shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 37.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 5,053 listings available.
• Clean inventory: 91.0% of listings are accident-free.

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Trax safe?

The 2026 Chevrolet Trax earns the lowest Poor rating in IIHS’s updated moderate overlap front crash test, while also earning a Good rating in the small overlap front test.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver-assist features include automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, automatic high beams, and a following distance indicator. Chevy also includes its Teen Driver monitoring system.

That said, advanced safety features are not standard, and some useful systems such as adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and rear park assist are reserved for higher trims or option packages. The crash-test picture also leaves room for concern, especially given the poor moderate-overlap result.

Should I buy a 2026 Chevrolet Trax or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 37.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• The 2026 Trax keeps the same appealing formula of affordability, style, and impressive infotainment tech, with only two new exterior colors added for the year.

The bottom line: If you want the Trax’s current design, strong value positioning, and up-to-date tech, the 2026 is the straightforward choice. If you’re mainly shopping on price, a nearby model year may still make sense, but you should compare equipment carefully because the Trax’s appeal depends heavily on trim and option content.
