New & Used 2026 Chevrolet Trax for Sale nearAuburn, ME

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Trax a good car?

The 2026 Chevrolet Trax earns a 7.67/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

That lines up with the Trax’s role as Chevrolet’s cheapest new car in the United States: it’s aimed at buyers who want compact-car affordability with crossover utility. The 2026 update is limited to two new exterior colors, and the overall package is still described as pleasant to drive with impressive infotainment tech.

The trade-offs are clear, though. All-wheel drive is not available, and advanced safety features are not standard. Poor ergonomic design is also part of the equation, so you’re getting style and value more than polish.

With 35.9% of listings priced as good or great deals, the market gives you a decent chance to find a strong-value example.

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Trax reliable?

The Trax’s basic mechanical formula is simple: a 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder, a six-speed automatic, and front-wheel drive. That kind of setup can be a plus for long-term ownership because there’s less complexity than you’d find in a more elaborate drivetrain, and the engine is described as not feeling overstressed in normal driving.

Chevrolet also backs the Trax with a three-year, 36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and a five-year, 60,000-mile powertrain warranty, which helps reduce early ownership risk. The cost-effectiveness notes also point to a well-tuned chassis and a conventional automatic transmission that helps drivability.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the Trax’s value proposition depends on accepting its safety and packaging compromises, so you should be especially careful about condition and maintenance history.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Chevrolet Trax?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a lower-trim example with fewer driver-assistance features. Pay close attention to interior condition and ergonomics, since the Trax is described as an economy model with some rough edges in day-to-day usability.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: LS models have 17-inch steel wheels and cloth upholstery, while LT, 1RS, and 2RS models add alloy wheels in 17-inch, 18-inch, and 19-inch sizes, respectively. Activ models get black-painted 18-inch wheels, a black grille with chrome accents, and different bumpers meant to look like skid plates.
• Powertrain: The Trax uses a 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine with a six-speed automatic and front-wheel drive only. It makes 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque, and the turbo setup is described as eager and not especially laggy.
• Safety package: Standard driver-assist features include automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, automatic high beams, and a following distance indicator. Adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and rear park assist are available on higher trim levels in option packages for some lower trims.
• Infotainment: LS models get an 8-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and a four-speaker audio system. Higher trims get an 11-inch touchscreen, an all-digital 8-inch instrument cluster, and a six-speaker sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: The Trax is EPA-rated at 29 mpg combined, including 28 mpg city and 31 mpg highway.

Which 2026 Chevrolet Trax trim should I buy?

The 2026 Chevrolet Trax is offered in 5 trim levels: LS, 1RS, LT, 2RS, and Activ.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the entry point, and it gives you the lowest price along with the standard 8-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and the full base safety suite. It makes sense if you want the cheapest way into the Trax, but it also has the fewest comfort and tech upgrades.
• 1RS: This trim adds a more distinctive look with alloy wheels and the RS treatment, while keeping the Trax’s core value intact. It’s a good fit if you want a little more style without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• LT: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it adds the larger 11-inch touchscreen, digital instrument cluster, and a more upscale cabin feel without reaching the top-trim price. If you want the strongest mix of equipment and cost, this is the one to target.
• 2RS: This trim builds on the RS theme with the largest 19-inch wheels and a more aggressive appearance. Choose it if style matters more to you than value.
• Activ: This is the most distinctive-looking version, with black-painted 18-inch wheels, a black grille with chrome accents, and skid-plate-style bumpers. It’s the right pick if you want the most rugged visual treatment in the lineup.

Some safety features, including adaptive cruise control and blind spot monitoring, are only available on higher trim levels in option packages for some lower trims.

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Trax safe?

The 2026 Chevrolet Trax earns the lowest Poor rating from IIHS in the updated moderate overlap front crash test, while also earning a Good rating in the small overlap front test.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver-assist features include automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, automatic high beams, and a following distance indicator. Adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and rear park assist are available on higher trim levels in option packages for some lower trims.

Chevy also includes its Teen Driver monitoring system. The bigger concern is that full safety ratings haven’t been published yet, and the crash-test results that are available are mixed.

Should I buy a 2026 Chevrolet Trax or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• The 2026 Trax adds two new exterior colors and keeps the same appealing mix of affordability, pleasant driving manners, and impressive infotainment tech.

The bottom line: If you want the Trax’s current formula and don’t mind shopping carefully around safety and equipment gaps, the 2026 is a sensible pick. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can also focus on whichever nearby year gives you the best listing mix and condition, since the core appeal here is the same value-first package.
