How much does the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox cost?

Prices have softened 8.40% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 5,837 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of inventory to compare.

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox a good car?

Yes — the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

It’s a competently executed compact crossover that focuses on everyday usability, with stylish design, a well-executed interior, and easy-to-use technology. That makes it a strong fit if you want a balanced small SUV that feels polished without trying to reinvent the segment.

The trade-offs are a smaller cargo area than some rivals and fairly pedestrian performance, so you should expect competence more than excitement. Even so, 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there’s still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Equinox is built around a straightforward turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder setup, and the expert evaluation describes it as adequate for normal driving. It also notes that the vehicle is composed on the highway and benefits from standard active noise cancellation, which supports a calm day-to-day ownership experience.

Chevy’s maintenance and ownership story is helped by the model’s practical, mainstream positioning, and the cabin and tech package are designed to be easy to live with. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the transmission behavior and modest powertrain output may be more noticeable as mileage adds up.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Chevrolet Equinox?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re comparing multiple trims or higher-mileage examples. Focus on overall condition, transmission behavior, tire wear, and whether the equipment on the specific listing matches what you expect from the trim.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LT, Active, and RS each bring distinct styling cues, and the base LT is the most straightforward version with cloth seats and 17-inch wheels. The Active adds a more rugged look, all-terrain tires, and unique seat materials, while the RS leans sportier with more black trim, a wider grille, and 19-inch wheels.
• Powertrain: Every Equinox uses a turbocharged 1.5-liter inline-four. Front-wheel-drive models use a CVT, while all-wheel-drive versions use an eight-speed automatic and more torque, but the engine is described as merely adequate rather than quick.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, forward-collision warning, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, high-beam assist, blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert with braking, and rear park-assist. The Safety and Technology Package adds a surround-view camera system, digital rear-view mirror, rear pedestrian alert, and traffic-sign recognition.
• Infotainment: You get an 11-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11.3-inch touchscreen, plus wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Google built-in apps are included, and the system is designed to be easy to use.
• Fuel efficiency: The Equinox is rated at 27 mpg combined (26 mpg city, 29 mpg highway) with front-wheel drive, while all-wheel-drive models are rated 1 mpg lower in the combined and city categories.

Which 2026 Chevrolet Equinox trim should I buy?

The 2026 Chevrolet Equinox is offered in 3 trim levels: LT, Active, and RS.

Here's the short version:

• LT: This is the value play if you want the most affordable path into the lineup. It gives you the core Equinox experience with standard tech, cloth seats, and 17-inch wheels, so it makes the most sense if you care more about price and everyday usability than appearance upgrades.
• Active: This is the best fit if you want the most distinctive look and a little more rugged character. It adds the model’s unique exterior treatment, all-terrain tires, and unique seat materials, but the content suggests its off-road appeal is limited.
• RS: Choose this if you want the sportiest appearance in the lineup. It adds more black trim, a wider grille, and larger standard wheels, making it the trim for shoppers who care most about style.

The Safety and Technology Package adds useful driver-assistance upgrades, including a surround-view camera system and digital rear-view mirror.

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 5,837 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.40% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 93.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $28,579, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox's resale value?

The current average of $28,579 sits slightly below last year's $31,198.

That softer pricing can help you buy more efficiently now, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive resale environment if the market stays loose. The good news is that the Equinox’s broad appeal, strong user satisfaction, and mainstream positioning should help support demand over time.

If you keep the vehicle in clean condition and avoid overpaying today, you’ll be in a better position when it’s time to sell. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox safe?

The 2026 Chevrolet Equinox received a Good rating in the updated moderate overlap front and side-impact tests from the IIHS, along with Acceptable ratings in the whiplash and small overlap front tests.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, forward-collision warning, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, high-beam assist, blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert with braking, and rear park-assist. The Safety and Technology Package adds a surround-view camera system, digital rear-view mirror, rear pedestrian alert, and traffic-sign recognition.

The mixed IIHS results are the main caveat to keep in mind, especially the Acceptable ratings in whiplash and small overlap front testing.

Should I buy a 2026 Chevrolet Equinox or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.40% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It keeps the redesigned Equinox’s stylish design, well-executed interior, and easy-to-use technology.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $26,360, the 2025 costs less than the current year's $28,579 average.
• It brings a fresh redesign with new standard tech and safety features.

The bottom line: If you want the better-balanced shopping environment and don’t mind paying more for the current year, the 2026 is the cleaner choice. If your priority is saving money and you’re comfortable with the earlier redesign year, the 2025 is the more budget-friendly path.
