New & Used 2026 Chevrolet Equinox for Sale nearBernalillo, NM

How much does the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox cost?

Prices have softened 11.22% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 6,770 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and prices.

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox a good car?

Yes — the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating, which points to broad appeal with some clear compromises. It stands out as a balanced, well-rounded compact crossover with stylish design, a well-executed interior, and easy-to-use technology.

The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

It fits buyers who want a straightforward compact SUV that handles the basics well, and it benefits from being part of General Motors’ core crossover lineup. The trade-offs are less cargo space than rivals and fairly pedestrian performance, plus an irritating transmission.

With 35.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitively priced example.

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Equinox is presented as a familiar, mainstream crossover rather than a high-strung or overly complex one, which generally supports confidence for used buyers. Its straightforward layout and broad-market positioning also suggest it is built for everyday ownership rather than niche use.

The performance notes point to an engine and drivetrain setup that is adequate rather than demanding, which can be a plus for long-term durability if you value simplicity. The main ownership risk for used buyers is that the transmission behavior and modest performance may be more noticeable over time than any outright mechanical drama.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Chevrolet Equinox?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re comparing multiple trims or higher-mileage examples. Focus on overall condition, interior wear, and how the transmission feels in normal driving, since that’s one of the model’s more noticeable weak points.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LT, Active, and RS each bring distinct styling, with the LT using standard chrome grille mesh and 17-inch wheels, the RS adding more black trim and larger wheels, and the Activ leaning into a more rugged look with a prominent lower front fascia, more chrome trim, and all-terrain tires. The base LT is the most straightforward choice, while the Activ’s unique seats and visual upgrades make it the most distinctive if you want a more upscale or outdoorsy feel.
• Powertrain: The only engine is a turbocharged 1.5-liter inline-four with 175 horsepower. Front-wheel-drive models use a CVT, while all-wheel-drive models use an eight-speed automatic and make more torque.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, forward-collision warning, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, high-beam assist, blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert with braking, and rear park-assist. The Safety and Technology Package adds a surround-view camera system, a digital rear-view mirror, rear pedestrian alert, and traffic-sign recognition.
• Infotainment: You get an 11-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11.3-inch touchscreen, plus wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Google built-in apps are included, and the system supports over-the-air-style connected functionality through its Android-based setup.
• Fuel efficiency: The Equinox is rated at 27 mpg combined, 26 mpg city, and 29 mpg highway. AWD models are rated 1 mpg lower in the combined and city categories.

Which 2026 Chevrolet Equinox trim should I buy?

The 2026 Chevrolet Equinox is offered in 3 trim levels: LT, Active, RS.

Here's the short version:

• LT: This is the most straightforward choice if you want the Equinox’s core strengths without paying for extra styling. It gives you the standard tech and safety equipment, and it’s the trim that best fits buyers who want value and simplicity.
• Active: This is the best-value trim if you want the most distinctive look and a more upscale cabin feel. Its unique seats and rugged styling cues make it the most characterful choice, though its all-terrain tires are more about appearance and noise than real off-road ability.
• RS: Choose this if you want the sportiest appearance, with more black trim, a wider grille, and larger wheels. It’s the most style-forward trim, but the content here points more to visual upgrades than a meaningful performance jump.

The Safety and Technology Package adds useful camera and alert features, so it’s worth considering if you want the most complete safety setup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Chevrolet Equinox?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough price softness to create opportunities.

• Deal availability: 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,770 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.22% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 93.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $27,610, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox's resale value?

The current average of $27,610 sits slightly below last year's $31,099.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may limit near-term upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the current pricing trend means you should expect a more competitive resale environment than last year.

The good news is that the Equinox’s broad appeal, mainstream positioning, and strong user satisfaction can help support demand over time. If you keep mileage reasonable and maintain the vehicle well, it should remain easy to market to compact-SUV shoppers.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox safe?

The 2026 Equinox received mixed safety ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, earning Good results in the updated moderate overlap front and side-impact tests, but Acceptable results in the whiplash and small overlap front tests.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver-assistance features include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, forward-collision warning, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, high-beam assist, blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert with braking, and rear park-assist. GM also includes a vibrating driver’s seat for alerts and the Teen Driver system.

The Safety and Technology Package adds a surround-view camera system, a digital rear-view mirror, rear pedestrian alert, and traffic-sign recognition. The mixed IIHS results mean you should pay attention to the specific safety equipment on any used example you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2026 Chevrolet Equinox or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.22% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It keeps the redesigned Equinox formula focused on everyday usability, with standard drive-mode selection and a new Polar White exterior color.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $25,966, the 2025 costs less than the current year's $27,610 average.
• It brings a fresh redesign with new standard tech and safety features.

The bottom line: Choose the 2026 if you want the latest version of the redesigned Equinox and are shopping the current market for a well-equipped compact SUV. If your priority is saving money, the 2025 is the better value play because it delivers much of the same core appeal for less.
