New & Used 2026 BMW iX for Sale nearSacramento, CA

Is the 2026 BMW iX a good car?

The 2026 BMW iX earns a 6.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 8/10.

The data points to a luxury electric SUV that is strongest when you care about driving feel, premium materials, and technology. The 2026 model year also brings minor styling updates, a more affordable entry-level version, and a more widely available M Sport Package, which helps keep the iX fresh while preserving its midsize EV identity.

The trade-offs are clear: the design may be polarizing, advanced safety features are not standard, and the technology can be unintuitive. Even so, if you want a midsize electric SUV that emphasizes style and driving enjoyment, the iX remains a compelling option.

Good and great deals account for 41.5% of listings, which gives you a decent amount of market choice.

Is the 2026 BMW iX reliable?

The 2026 BMW iX is presented as a well-developed luxury EV with improved battery technology, updated battery management, upgraded regenerative braking, and a standard heat pump that helps warm the battery more quickly in cold weather. Those changes point to a more refined ownership experience, especially in everyday and cold-weather use.

The performance notes also suggest a vehicle that is engineered for consistency: the dual-motor AWD setup is paired with improved power output and better overall efficiency, including in cold weather. BMW also says the battery preconditions for charging stops, which helps support predictable road-trip use.

If you buy used, your long-term ownership risk is mostly tied to the usual EV concerns around battery condition, software behavior, and how the previous owner charged and maintained the vehicle.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 BMW iX?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on a luxury EV with advanced electronics and optional driver-assistance equipment. Focus on overall condition, charging behavior, and whether the technology and safety systems operate as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes the xDrive45, xDrive60, and M70 xDrive. The xDrive45 is the entry-level model and is the value play, while the xDrive60 adds more horsepower and range, and the M70 xDrive sits at the top with the most performance-oriented positioning. The base model is the one to watch if you want the best balance of price and equipment.
• Powertrain: All models use a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive setup. The xDrive45 makes 402 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque, and the lineup benefits from improved power output and better overall efficiency.
• Safety package: BMW equips every iX with Driving Assistant Plus, which includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, Steering Assistant, and a blind-spot monitor that can actively try to prevent an unsafe lane change. The more advanced Driving Assistance Professional Package adds evasive steering assist, lane-change assist, automated parking assist, Highway Assistant, Parking Assistant Professional, Drive Recorder, and Anti-Theft Recorder.
• Infotainment: The iX uses BMW iDrive 8.5 with QuickSelect and the BMW Curved Display. It includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus access to BMW Maps, SiriusXM, Amazon Alexa, and the BMW ConnectedDrive Store. BMW Live Cockpit Professional adds a head-up display and Augmented View.
• Range & charging: The battery has a net usable capacity of 100.1 kilowatt-hours. EPA-rated range runs from 283 to 364 miles depending on model and wheel size. Home charging on an 11-kilowatt Level 2 charger takes 9.5 hours from empty to full, and DC fast charging can reach 175 kW on the xDrive45 and 195 kW on other models, with the xDrive45 taking 34 minutes for a 10-80% charge.
• Battery health: Check battery state-of-health, ask how often the car was charged at home versus on DC fast chargers, and confirm how much of the battery warranty remains. A used EV is best when the battery has been treated consistently and the charging history makes sense for the mileage.

Which 2026 BMW iX trim should I buy?

The 2026 BMW iX is offered in 3 trim levels: xDrive45, xDrive60, and M70 xDrive.

Here's the short version:

• xDrive45: This is the best-value choice. It brings the core iX experience, including the dual-motor AWD setup, strong standard equipment, and the same overall design and technology theme as the pricier versions. If you want the iX without overspending, this is the trim to target.
• xDrive60: This trim adds more horsepower and more range than the xDrive45, so it makes sense if you want a little more performance and distance without jumping all the way to the top model.
• M70 xDrive: This is the range-topping version and the one to choose if you want the most performance-focused iX in the lineup.

BMW’s standard Driving Assistant Plus suite is included on every iX, while the more advanced Driving Assistance Professional Package is optional.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 BMW iX?

This is a favorable time to shop if you want a used iX, because the market shows a solid share of discounted listings and a high proportion of clean inventory.

• Deal availability: 41.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 205 listings available.

Is the 2026 BMW iX safe?

BMW equips every iX with Driving Assistant Plus, which includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, Steering Assistant, and a blind-spot monitor that can actively try to prevent an unsafe lane change.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The available Driving Assistance Professional Package adds evasive steering assist, lane-change assist, automated parking assist, Highway Assistant, Parking Assistant Professional, Drive Recorder, and Anti-Theft Recorder. Highway Assistant is available for up to 85 mph and is complimentary for the first eight years of ownership.

The standard system worked well in testing, and the steering assist features feel natural rather than intrusive. The main caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard, so you need to check whether a used example has the optional package if you want the fuller suite.

Should I buy a 2026 BMW iX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 41.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• The 2026 model brings minor styling updates, a reworked lineup with a more affordable entry-level model, and improved battery technology that adds modest gains in power and range.

The bottom line: If you want the freshest version of the iX with the updated lineup and improved battery tech, the 2026 is the one to focus on. If you’re shopping mainly on price, a nearby model year may still make sense, but the 2026’s broader trim structure and stronger market availability make it the cleaner starting point.
