How much does the 2026 BMW X3 cost?

Prices have softened 4.08% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,678 listings available, which suggests solid inventory availability for shoppers comparing trims and prices.

Is the 2026 BMW X3 a good car?

The 2026 BMW X3 earns an expert rating of 6.7/10.

The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

The X3 is aimed at you if you want a compact luxury crossover with a sports-sedan feel and SUV practicality. The base X3 30 xDrive is described as good enough that you may prefer its savings over the M50’s extra speed and capability, while the 2026 updates make the base model look and feel a little more upscale inside.

The trade-offs are clear: the design may be polarizing, the interior materials can feel cheap, and the technology is quirky.

Good and great deals account for 35.9% of listings, which gives you a decent chance to find a competitive price.

Is the 2026 BMW X3 reliable?

The 2026 BMW X3 is presented as a refined, smooth, and accurate SUV with a strong mix of comfort, technology, and driving dynamics.

Its performance hardware and standard all-wheel drive support confident everyday use, and the 48-volt mild hybrid system helps make the automatic engine stop/start system barely noticeable. BMW also includes complimentary scheduled maintenance for three years or 36,000 miles, which is a useful ownership perk for a used buyer.

The dependability picture is mixed in practice: the tech is polished in some situations, but the review also notes real-world hiccups with the infotainment and driver-assistance systems.

For long-term ownership, you should expect a premium SUV that can be rewarding to live with, but one that may require more patience with technology than a simpler rival.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 BMW X3?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 97.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report, verify service records, and prioritize a thorough test drive. Pay close attention to the cabin materials, the behavior of the infotainment system, and how the driver-assistance features respond in real traffic. If you’re considering a higher-trim example, make sure the added equipment is actually present and functioning as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes the 30 xDrive and M50. The 30 xDrive is the value play, while the M50 adds a more upscale feel inside along with more aggressive styling and performance-oriented hardware.
• Powertrain: The 30 xDrive uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 255 horsepower, while the M50 uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder with 393 horsepower and 428 pound-feet of torque. Both come standard with all-wheel drive, and the base model is described as surprisingly sprightly.
• Safety package: Standard features include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, and an active blind-spot monitor that can add steering to help prevent unsafe lane changes. The optional Driving Assistance Professional Package adds lane-centering assist, lane-change assist, evasive steering assist, and adaptive cruise control with hands-free traffic jam assist.
• Infotainment: The X3 uses a 12.3-inch digital driver display and a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It runs BMW Operating System 9 with QuickSelect, and it offers cloud-based navigation, Augmented View video, a BMW app store, and in-vehicle gaming and video streaming capability.
• Fuel efficiency: The base model is rated at 27 mpg in combined driving, and the review notes that BMW says the X3 is the most efficient of its compact luxury rivals.

Which 2026 BMW X3 trim should I buy?

The 2026 BMW X3 is offered in 2 trim levels: 30 xDrive and M50.

Here's the short version:

• 30 xDrive: This is the best-value choice. The review says it is good enough that you may prefer its significant savings over the M50’s extra speed and capability, and it still brings all-wheel drive, strong efficiency, and a satisfying driving experience.
• M50: Choose this if you want the quickest, most performance-focused X3. It adds the turbocharged inline-six, more aggressive hardware, and the most exciting acceleration, but it also comes with a much higher price and a firmer ride.

The safety package is broad, but the optional Driving Assistance Professional Package adds several of the most advanced features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 BMW X3?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,678 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.08% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 97.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $51,732, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2026 BMW X3's resale value?

The current average of $51,732 sits slightly below last year's $53,932.

That decline suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you as a buyer today. For a future seller, it means the X3 is holding value reasonably well, but not strongly enough to suggest a rising-price environment.

If you buy at the right price now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation later. The key is to avoid overpaying for options that the market may not fully reward at resale.

Is the 2026 BMW X3 safe?

The 2026 BMW X3 earns four-star ratings overall from NHTSA, with a mix of four- and five-star results across its crash tests, and it earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard driver-assistance suite includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, and an active blind-spot monitor that can add steering to help prevent unsafe lane changes. The optional Driving Assistance Professional Package adds lane-centering assist, lane-change assist, evasive steering assist, and adaptive cruise control with hands-free traffic jam assist.

The review also notes that the system can react too aggressively in some situations, including an unexpected hard-braking event when it mistook cyclists for obstacles. That means you should test the driver-assistance features carefully before you buy.

Should I buy a 2026 BMW X3 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 97.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.08% compared with last year.
• BMW’s 2026 updates make the base model look and feel a little more upscale inside.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $44,840, the 2025 costs less than the current year's $51,732 average.
• The 2025 is a stylish, rewarding compact luxury SUV with strong comfort, technology, and driving dynamics.

The bottom line: choose the 2026 if you want the updated feel and can find a good deal, but the 2025 is the smarter price-sensitive pick if you want a lower entry cost and can live with the earlier model year.
