Is the 2025 Volkswagen Taos a good car?

Generally — the 2025 Volkswagen Taos earns a 4/5 user rating, which points to a strong overall fit for shoppers who want a roomy subcompact SUV with a practical, comfortable cabin. The overview highlights its standout interior space, higher seating position, composed driving manners, and useful everyday layout, so it makes the most sense if you value passenger room and utility over outright power. Is the 2025 Volkswagen Taos reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview points to a refreshed 2025 model with an improved powertrain and more standard safety tech, which should help it feel more polished than earlier versions. It also notes that Volkswagen standardized the smoother eight-speed automatic, addressing the jerky behavior that could show up with the earlier setup. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk looks more manageable than it did on earlier Taos models, especially if you focus on well-maintained examples.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Volkswagen Taos?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and confirm the car’s maintenance record before you buy. Put the inspection focus on overall condition, especially signs of prior bodywork, tire wear, brake wear, and any issues with the cabin electronics or infotainment system. Because this model is valued for comfort and practicality, make sure the interior, seating, and controls all feel consistent with the mileage and asking price.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Volkswagen Taos?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 38.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,981 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.89% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 93.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $23,270, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Volkswagen Taos's resale value?

The current average of $23,270 sits slightly below last year's $27,341.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, the softer pricing means resale upside may be more limited unless the vehicle is especially clean, well-equipped, and lightly used. If you buy smart now, you may be better positioned to minimize depreciation later.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2025 Volkswagen Taos or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 38.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.89% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2025 is the better pick if you want the roomiest, most up-to-date Taos with the refreshed powertrain and stronger standard equipment. If your priority is stretching your budget as far as possible, a nearby older year may be worth comparing, but the 2025 gives you the best mix of space, features, and current-market pricing.
