How much does the 2025 Toyota Prius cost?

Prices have softened 7.95% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,427 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 Toyota Prius a good car?

The 2025 Toyota Prius earns an expert rating of 6.7/10.

The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

The Prius also stands out for its stylish design, easy-to-use technology, and strong efficiency-focused identity. The trade-offs are a cramped interior and limited trunk space, with the back seat especially tight. It is best suited to you if you want a hybrid with personality and strong fuel-economy appeal, but it is less convincing if everyday space matters more.

42.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.

Is the 2025 Toyota Prius reliable?

The 2025 Prius is presented as a long-running hybrid with a reputation built around efficiency and durability, and the expert review also emphasizes its strong safety credentials. Its hybrid powertrain is described as sprightly and capable of handling highway speeds and moderate traffic without strain.

The review also notes that Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 behaves as expected overall, with only occasional quirks in lane-centering behavior on curving roads and near freeway ramps. Toyota also includes helpful ownership-friendly tech such as Service Connect and Safety Connect at no charge for up to 10 years, which can make day-to-day use easier.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about mechanical drama and more about living with the Prius’s space limitations and real-world efficiency that may not always match expectations.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Toyota Prius?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example or a car with optional equipment. Focus on cabin condition, cargo-area wear, and whether the car’s features and trim level match the listing description.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes LE, XLE, Nightshade Edition, and Limited. The base trim gets the standard 8-inch touchscreen, while the Limited gets the larger 12.3-inch display, and the Nightshade adds blacked-out styling details that give the car a more distinctive look.
• Powertrain: The standard hybrid setup uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gas engine and an electric motor for 194 horsepower. AWD adds a second rear electric motor and raises output to 196 hp.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard and includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is also standard, while a surround-view camera is available on the Limited.
• Infotainment: Every Prius gets Toyota Audio Multimedia with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The standard screen is 8 inches on LE, XLE, and Nightshade Edition, while the Limited gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen; the larger display is optional on XLE and Nightshade.
• Fuel efficiency: The review cites an EPA estimate of 52 mpg in combined, city, and highway driving for the test vehicle, while the observed test result was 39.2 mpg.

Which 2025 Toyota Prius trim should I buy?

The 2025 Toyota Prius is offered in 4 trim levels: LE, XLE, Nightshade Edition, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the entry point if you want the Prius experience at the lowest price, with the standard 8-inch touchscreen and the full Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 suite.
• XLE: This is the best-value trim if you want a more upscale feel without jumping all the way to the top model, and it can be paired with the larger 12.3-inch touchscreen.
• Nightshade Edition: Choose this if you want the blacked-out styling treatment, including black 19-inch wheels, black exterior trim, and the exclusive Karashi paint color.
• Limited: This is the trim to buy if you want the most equipment, including the standard 12.3-inch touchscreen and the available surround-view camera system.

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard across the lineup, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is standard as well.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Toyota Prius?

The market leans in your favor right now, especially if you are comparing listings carefully and moving quickly on well-priced examples.

• Deal availability: 42.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,427 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.95% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 88.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $27,857, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Toyota Prius's resale value?

The current average of $28,088 sits slightly below last year's $30,515.

That price movement suggests the Prius has softened enough to help you buy more confidently today. If you sell later, you may not see the same pricing strength that the model had a year ago.

For a future seller, the upside is that the Prius still has strong name recognition and a clear efficiency story. The downside is that current market pricing shows buyers have alternatives, so resale value may depend heavily on trim, condition, and mileage.

Is the 2025 Toyota Prius safe?

The 2025 Toyota Prius earns a coveted Top Safety Pick+ nod from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and five-star ratings in all crashworthiness assessments from NHTSA, along with a four-star rating for rollover resistance.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard and includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is also standard, and Proactive Driving Assist is part of the package as well.

The system is generally well regarded, though lane-centering can feel a bit argumentative on curving roads and may briefly lose its footing near freeway ramps. Even so, the Prius remains one of the strongest safety choices in its class.

Should I buy a 2025 Toyota Prius or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 42.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.95% compared with last year.
• The 2025 adds a new Nightshade trim level with blacked-out styling.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $29,001, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $28,088 average.
• It blends style, practicality, and affordability for everyday use.

The bottom line: If you want the newer model-year update and better current pricing, the 2025 is the cleaner pick. If you are shopping strictly on price and want a strong everyday hybrid value, the 2024 still makes sense.
