Is the 2025 Toyota Highlander a good car?

The 2025 Toyota Highlander stands out as a practical, comfort-focused midsize SUV rather than a flashy one. Toyota keeps the formula centered on comfort and everyday usefulness, with a reinforced body, upscale styling, and a cabin that emphasizes versatility.

It also gives you both gas and hybrid powertrains, and the hybrid is notable for returning 35 mpg combined, which is much more than most other midsize SUVs. Is the 2025 Toyota Highlander reliable?

The 2025 Toyota Highlander stands out as a practical, comfort-focused midsize SUV with a long reputation for reliability and everyday usefulness. Toyota’s formula here emphasizes a smooth ride, easy ownership, and family-friendly versatility.

It also comes with standard Toyota Safety Sense, plus an 8-inch touchscreen, USB inputs, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about complexity and more about whether the specific vehicle has been maintained well and used in a way that matches your needs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Toyota Highlander?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and confirm the listing’s condition matches the photos and description. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with incomplete service records. Focus on signs of wear in the cabin, tires, brakes, and any evidence that the vehicle was used heavily as a family hauler.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Toyota Highlander?

This looks like a moderate market where selective buyers can still find value if they shop carefully.

• Deal availability: 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,888 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.78% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 91.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $39,474, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Toyota Highlander's resale value?

The current average of $42,088 sits slightly below last year's $45,147.

That price movement suggests the Highlander has softened enough to create a better entry point for you as a buyer. For a future seller, it also means resale value may be more sensitive to mileage, condition, and trim than it would be in a stronger pricing environment. If you buy well now and keep the vehicle in clean condition, you should be in a better position when it’s time to sell.

Should I buy a 2025 Toyota Highlander or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.78% compared with last year.

The bottom line: The 2025 is the better primary choice if you want a comfortable, practical Highlander with a softer market and strong clean-inventory availability. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may be worth comparing for a lower entry cost, but the 2025 gives you a good balance of value and inventory quality.
