Used 2025 Toyota 4Runner for Sale nearDetroit, MI

How much does the 2025 Toyota 4Runner cost?

Prices have softened 8.43% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,405 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing options.

Is the 2025 Toyota 4Runner a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Toyota 4Runner earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Performance, Form and function, and Cost effectiveness.

The redesign brings more capability, power, comfort, and technology, while also making the 4Runner more composed on pavement. It still keeps the rugged, all-terrain character that makes it appealing if you want a vehicle built for longer adventures rather than just commuting.

The main trade-off is limited rear-seat space, so you should weigh that against your passenger needs. The expert notes also point to some road noise from the Trailhunter snorkel, which matters if you spend a lot of time on highways.

The market shows 32.8% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Toyota 4Runner reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2025 4Runner is described as a standout for reliability, and Toyota’s reputation is part of that case. The new generation also pairs its tougher character with a more contemporary powertrain lineup, which should help it feel less dated in everyday use.

Its standard four-cylinder is described as more powerful than the previous-generation V6, and the hybrid adds stronger usable power at lower speeds. That combination points to a vehicle that should feel more capable and less strained in daily driving and on rough terrain.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is not mechanical confidence so much as whether the cabin space and ride fit your needs over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Toyota 4Runner?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and verify that the specific truck you’re considering has a clean maintenance and accident record. A pre-purchase inspection is especially worthwhile if you’re looking at a higher-mileage example or one that has seen regular trail use. Focus on overall condition, interior wear, and signs of hard off-road use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The design is more of a significant evolution than a total reinvention, with a broad-shouldered exterior, a purposeful cabin, and a sliding rear window that helps cargo access. Base trims are more about the core 4Runner formula, while higher trims add more capability and refinement.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 317 horsepower and 278 pound-feet of torque, plus an available i-Force Max Hybrid that pairs the engine with an electric motor for 326 hp and 465 lb-ft. The standard engine is not weak, but the hybrid is the stronger choice if you want more low-speed punch.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard and includes frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, a traffic sign reader, automatic high beams, and Proactive Driving Assist. A blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alerts is optional.
• Infotainment: An 8-inch touchscreen is standard on supporting trims, while a 14-inch screen is available. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are offered, along with a wireless charging pad and a digital instrument panel on Hybrid variants.
• Fuel efficiency: The standard four-cylinder is estimated at 20 mpg city and 26 mpg highway, while the hybrid is estimated at 23/24/23.

Which 2025 Toyota 4Runner trim should I buy?

The 2025 Toyota 4Runner is offered in 9 trim levels: SR5, TRD Off-Road, TRD Pro, Trailhunter, and additional trims referenced in the expert coverage.

Here's the short version:

• SR5: This is the entry point if you want the core redesign, standard turbocharged four-cylinder power, and the basic 4Runner formula without paying for extra off-road hardware.
• TRD Off-Road: This is the best-value choice if you want stronger trail capability without jumping all the way to the most expensive adventure trims. It adds more off-road focus while staying more approachable than the top models.
• TRD Pro: Choose this if you want the most capable adventure-oriented version in the lineup and are willing to pay for it.
• Trailhunter: This is the pick for buyers who want a highly equipped overland-style 4Runner with serious trail intent and the most rugged character.

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 comes standard across the lineup, while blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts remains optional.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Toyota 4Runner?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to shop carefully and compare listings.

• Deal availability: 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,405 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.43% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 94.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $48,703, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Toyota 4Runner's resale value?

The current average of $48,873 sits slightly below last year's $53,373.

That softer pricing can help you buy more strategically now, but it also means future sellers may need to be realistic about where the market has settled. If prices continue to normalize, resale value will depend heavily on trim, condition, and how well the vehicle has been maintained.

The 4Runner’s strong reputation and high owner satisfaction should help support demand over time. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment are likely to remain easier to move than neglected ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Toyota 4Runner safe?

The 2025 Toyota 4Runner does not yet have crash test results from either NHTSA or IIHS.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 comes standard and includes frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, a traffic sign reader, automatic high beams, and Proactive Driving Assist. A blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alerts is optional.

The main caveat is that the available Proactive Driving Assist can feel too intrusive for some drivers, though it can be disabled.

Should I buy a 2025 Toyota 4Runner or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.43% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The redesign adds more capability, comfort, and technology while keeping the 4Runner’s rugged identity.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $46,975, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $48,873 average.
• It remains a rugged, off-road-focused SUV with strong reliability and durability.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It leans even more clearly into adventure while offering an available hybrid powertrain.

The bottom line: If you want the newest 4Runner with the best mix of capability, refinement, and tech, the 2025 is the better primary choice. If your budget is tighter, the 2024 can still make sense as a lower-cost path into the nameplate.
