Used 2025 Subaru Outback for Sale nearNew Bedford, MA

How much does the 2025 Subaru Outback cost?

Prices have softened 7.53% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 6,898 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and prices.

Is the 2025 Subaru Outback a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Subaru Outback earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

You get a rugged wagon shape instead of the usual crossover formula, plus practical everyday usability, great ride quality, standard all-wheel drive, and strong safety ratings. The trade-offs are clear: the base engine is underwhelming, and the touchscreen response is sluggish.

That mix makes the Outback especially appealing if you want a practical vehicle with a distinct identity and confidence in poor weather. The market also shows 38.4% good or great deals, which gives you room to shop carefully.

Is the 2025 Subaru Outback reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Outback’s reliability case is helped by its straightforward gasoline powertrain, standard all-wheel drive, and comfort-focused setup. Its performance notes point to a smooth, comfortable road feel, with a CVT that is generally unobtrusive even if it can hesitate during throttle changes.

You also get a practical ownership profile from the cost side, including regular unleaded fuel and competitive fuel economy for the class. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the tech and drivetrain feel less polished than the rest of the package.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Subaru Outback?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or a trim with more equipment. Focus on overall condition, infotainment responsiveness, and how the drivetrain behaves in normal driving.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Base and Premium trims use cloth upholstery and 17-inch wheels, while Onyx and Wilderness models use StarTex synthetic leather. Limited adds a power moonroof, DriverFocus anti-distraction tech, navigation, a 360-degree heated steering wheel, an 11.6-inch infotainment system, leather interior, and heated seats front and rear. Touring XT adds Nappa leather upholstery and ventilated front seats.
• Powertrain: The standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder makes 182 horsepower and 176 pound-feet of torque, while XT trims use a turbocharged 2.4-liter engine with 260 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque. Both use a CVT and standard all-wheel drive, and the turbo setup is the stronger choice if you want more urgency.
• Safety package: Subaru’s EyeSight driver-assist technology includes adaptive cruise control with lane centering, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and automatic emergency steering. Onyx and higher trims also add blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist and rear cross-traffic alert.
• Infotainment: Most Outbacks use an 11.6-inch touchscreen, while the base model has twin 7-inch displays. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, wireless unless you have the base model’s twin 7-inch displays.
• Fuel efficiency: The base 2.5-liter model earns 26 mpg city, 32 mpg highway and 28 mpg combined. Turbocharged XT models drop to 22 mpg city, 29 mpg highway and 25 mpg combined. The Wilderness model returns 21 mpg city, 26 mpg highway and 23 mpg combined.

Which 2025 Subaru Outback trim should I buy?

The 2025 Subaru Outback is offered in 6 trim levels: Base, Premium, Onyx Edition, Wilderness, Limited, and Touring.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the entry point if you want the Outback’s wagon shape, standard all-wheel drive, and core practicality at the lowest cost. It makes the most sense if you care more about value and everyday usefulness than upscale features.
• Premium: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more comfort and convenience without pushing too far up the price ladder. It’s the trim to target if you want a balanced mix of equipment and affordability.
• Onyx Edition: This trim adds a more rugged, easy-to-clean interior treatment and also brings the extra safety tech that starts here. It suits you if you want a more adventure-ready feel and the added driver-assist coverage.
• Wilderness: This is the choice if you want the most serious off-road character in the lineup, with more ground clearance and added trail-focused hardware. It’s the right pick if your driving regularly takes you beyond pavement.
• Limited: This is the step-up trim for shoppers who want a more upscale cabin and more convenience features, including the larger infotainment setup and added comfort equipment. It’s a strong choice if you want a near-luxury feel without going all the way to the top.
• Touring: This is the most luxurious version, with Nappa leather and ventilated front seats. Choose it if you want the most comfort-focused Outback experience.

Onyx and higher trim levels also have blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist and rear cross-traffic alert.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Subaru Outback?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 38.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,898 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.53% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 93.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $31,282, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Subaru Outback's resale value?

The current average of $31,282 sits slightly below last year's $33,829.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more favorably now but may also limit near-term upside if you plan to resell soon. If you’re a future seller, the current softness means you should pay close attention to trim, condition, and mileage because those details will matter more when the market is already easing.

The Outback’s distinct wagon identity and strong buyer appeal can still support demand over time. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Subaru Outback safe?

The 2025 Outback earns a Top Safety Pick designation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and a five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Subaru’s EyeSight driver-assist technology includes adaptive cruise control with lane centering, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and automatic emergency steering. Onyx and higher trims also add blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist and rear cross-traffic alert.

One caveat is that the lane-centering behavior can feel a little busy, with more side-to-side movement than ideal. DriverFocus also produced a few false notifications, though the system is still a useful added layer of monitoring.

Should I buy a 2025 Subaru Outback or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 38.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.53% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2025 stands out as one of the last remaining station wagons, with standard all-wheel drive and strong safety ratings.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $28,232, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $31,282 average.
• It keeps the raised station wagon character and broad trim range.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It is all-new and shifts to an SUV-like form while keeping wagon practicality.
• It adds numerous feature enhancements and broadens its appeal with stronger price, performance, and practicality.

The bottom line: If you want the current Outback’s distinctive wagon shape and a market that has softened, the 2025 is the right target. If your priority is lower purchase price, the 2024 is the value play. If you’d rather wait for the redesign, the 2026 brings a more SUV-like take on the formula.
