Used 2025 Subaru Outback for Sale nearCape Girardeau, MO

How much does the 2025 Subaru Outback cost?

Prices have softened 5.64% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 6,615 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 Subaru Outback a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Subaru Outback earns 4.5/5 from users and 7.5/10 from experts. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

It stands out as a rugged wagon with standard all-wheel drive, great ride quality, and a distinctive shape that separates it from more conventional SUVs. The trade-offs are the underwhelming base engine and sluggish touchscreen response, so you should expect comfort and capability more than quick acceleration or polished tech feel.

35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2025 Subaru Outback reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Outback’s comfort-focused setup and standard all-wheel drive support its reputation as a dependable daily driver, and the expert evaluation highlights strong safety and a well-rounded ownership experience. Its performance is described as smooth and comfortable on the road, with a CVT that is generally unobtrusive.

If you buy used, the main long-term ownership risk is that the base powertrain and infotainment can feel dated or frustrating if you expect a more modern driving experience.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Subaru Outback?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with off-road use. Focus on overall condition, interior wear, and how the tech and driver-assist systems operate in real-world use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Base and Premium trims use cloth upholstery and 17-inch wheels, while Onyx and Wilderness models use easy-to-clean StarTex synthetic leather. Limited adds a power moonroof, DriverFocus anti-distraction tech, navigation, a 360-degree heated steering wheel, leather interior, and heated seats front and rear, while Touring XT adds Nappa leather upholstery and ventilated front seats.
• Powertrain: The standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder makes 182 horsepower and 176 pound-feet of torque, while XT trims use a turbocharged 2.4-liter engine with 260 hp and 277 lb-ft. Both use regular unleaded gas, and the turbo model is the better choice if you want stronger acceleration.
• Safety package: EyeSight includes adaptive cruise control with lane centering, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and automatic emergency steering. Onyx and higher trims also add blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist and rear cross-traffic alert.
• Infotainment: Most trims use an 11.6-inch touchscreen, while the base model uses twin 7-inch displays. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, wireless unless you have the base model’s twin 7-inch displays.
• Fuel efficiency: The base 2.5-liter model earns 26 mpg city, 32 mpg highway, and 28 mpg combined. Turbocharged XT models return 22 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined, while Wilderness drops to 21 mpg city, 26 mpg highway, and 23 mpg combined.

Which 2025 Subaru Outback trim should I buy?

The 2025 Subaru Outback is offered in 5 trim levels: Base, Premium, Onyx, Wilderness, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the least expensive way into the Outback, but it’s also the most stripped-down version, with cloth upholstery and twin 7-inch displays. It makes sense if you want the wagon shape, standard all-wheel drive, and the lowest entry price.
• Premium: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it keeps the core Outback formula while adding a more complete everyday experience than the base model. If you want a balanced mix of comfort and value, this is the trim to focus on.
• Onyx: This trim adds StarTex synthetic leather and the extra driver-assistance features that come with higher trims, making it a smart pick if you want a more rugged-feeling interior and more safety tech.
• Wilderness: This is the choice for buyers who want the most serious adventure focus, with 9.5 inches of ground clearance, a front skid plate, and extra X-Mode settings. It’s the one to choose if rough terrain matters most.
• Limited: This is the most upscale non-Wilderness choice, adding a power moonroof, DriverFocus, navigation, a heated steering wheel, leather, and heated front and rear seats. It suits you if comfort and convenience matter more than off-road emphasis.

Onyx and higher trims also add blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist and rear cross-traffic alert.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Subaru Outback?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop around but still room for good deals.

• Deal availability: 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,615 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.64% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 93.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $31,980, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Subaru Outback's resale value?

The current average of $31,980 sits slightly below last year's $33,892.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. For a future seller, that also means resale value may depend more on condition, mileage, and trim desirability than on broad market momentum.

Well-equipped trims and clean history examples should hold up better than base models with the least desirable equipment. If you buy carefully now, you improve your odds of getting a stronger return later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Subaru Outback safe?

The 2025 Subaru Outback earns a Top Safety Pick designation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and a five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Subaru’s EyeSight driver-assist technology includes adaptive cruise control with lane centering, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and automatic emergency steering. Onyx and higher trims also add blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist and rear cross-traffic alert.

One caveat is that the lane-centering behavior can feel a little busy, with more side-to-side movement than ideal.

Should I buy a 2025 Subaru Outback or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.64% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It remains one of the last remaining station wagons, giving you a distinctive alternative to a conventional crossover.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $28,713, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $31,980 average.
• It keeps the raised station wagon formula with a broad trim spread and strong safety ratings.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It is all-new and brings an SUV-like shape with wagon advantages.
• It adds numerous feature enhancements and strong off-road and on-pavement capability.

The bottom line: If you want the current Outback’s distinctive wagon shape and a market that has already softened, the 2025 is the better buy. If your priority is saving money, the 2024 is the value play. If you’d rather wait for the redesign and want the newest version, the 2026 is the path to consider.
