Is the 2025 Subaru Legacy a good car?

The 2025 Subaru Legacy stands out as a rare midsize sedan that made standard all-wheel drive part of its identity from the beginning and kept that advantage through the end of its run. It also built a reputation around safety and technology, with the final generation described as the safest and most technically advanced version of the model.

For 2025, DriverFocus became standard across all trims, adding a camera system that monitors the driver and issues alerts for fatigue or distraction. It also offers a mix of everyday comfort and useful equipment that should appeal to you if you want a practical sedan with more traction confidence than many rivals.

The Legacy’s standard AWD, comfortable ride, and long list of safety features are clear strengths, while its dull styling, cheap-feeling interior, and sluggish performance are the main tradeoffs. 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Subaru Legacy reliable?

The 2025 Subaru Legacy stands out as a rare midsize sedan that made standard all-wheel drive part of its identity from the beginning and kept that advantage through the end of its run. It also built a reputation around safety and technology, with the final generation described as the safest and most technically advanced version of the model.

For 2025, DriverFocus became standard across all trims, adding a camera system that monitors the driver and issues alerts for fatigue or distraction. That combination of standard AWD, safety focus, and late-generation equipment makes it a sensible choice if you want a used sedan with a practical ownership profile.

For long-term ownership, you should still budget for the usual wear items and verify that the car has been maintained consistently, since any used vehicle can become costly if prior care was neglected.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Subaru Legacy?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should prioritize a history report first, then inspect the car closely for signs of prior damage, uneven wear, or poor repairs. Focus on overall condition, because a clean-looking listing can still hide issues that matter once you start driving it every day.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Subaru Legacy?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer's market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly when a strong listing appears.

• Deal availability: 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 904 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.52% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 88.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $27,552, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Subaru Legacy's resale value?

The current average of $27,750 sits slightly below last year's $28,468.

That price movement suggests the Legacy has softened enough to help you buy more confidently today, but it also means future resale may depend heavily on condition, mileage, and maintenance history. If you keep the car clean and well documented, you should be in a better position when it is time to sell. If you buy at the right price now, you reduce the risk of taking a bigger hit later.

Should I buy a 2025 Subaru Legacy or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.52% compared with last year.

The bottom line: The 2025 is the right pick if you want the newest version of this generation with standard DriverFocus and a market that still offers some deal potential. If you are more price-sensitive, a nearby model year may give you a lower entry point while still delivering the Legacy’s core strengths, so compare condition and listing price closely before deciding.
