How much does the 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class cost?

Prices have softened 6.51% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 750 listings available, which gives you a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Technology.

It stands out for its unmistakable design, powerful engines, and impressive off-road capability, while still delivering the kind of luxury and tech you expect from a modern Mercedes. The trade-offs are clear: it is rougher around the edges than many luxury SUVs, and the expert review calls out not much cargo space and uncomfortable seats.

The market also looks reasonably supportive, with 30.9% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The 2025 G-Class is described as a modern Mercedes with updated powertrains and tech, and its off-road hardware and luxury features suggest a vehicle built to do more than just look the part.

The expert review also notes that the G-Class remains a real capability-focused SUV rather than a showpiece, which is a good sign if you want something engineered for serious use. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that its premium hardware and specialized nature can make upkeep and everyday practicality less forgiving than in more conventional SUVs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 96.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and verify that the truck has a clean maintenance record, especially given its premium positioning and specialized hardware. A pre-purchase inspection is worth prioritizing so you can check for wear, electronics issues, and signs that the vehicle has been used hard off-road or in city parking environments. Focus on overall condition, because this model’s value depends heavily on how well it has been cared for.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base G 550 brings the G-Class’s distinctive design, opulent cabin, and standard 19-inch wheels, while AMG models add a sportier steering wheel and more aggressive wheel options. If you want the best-value path, the base model gives you the core G-Class experience without moving into the more expensive AMG territory.
• Powertrain: The G 550 uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six with 443 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque, while the AMG G 63 keeps a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 with 577 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque. Both pair with a nine-speed automatic, mild-hybrid assistance, and permanent 4WD with locking differentials.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, park assist, a 360-degree camera system, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, safe exit assist, and traffic sign recognition. The 2025 model also adds route-based speed adaptation, automated lane centering, and an emergency-stop feature.
• Infotainment: You get MBUX with standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus dual 12.3-inch screens. The system also includes augmented reality navigation, excellent voice recognition, and an off-road menu with compass, tire pressure and temperature, and inclinometer readouts.
• Fuel efficiency: EPA fuel-economy ratings were not available at the time of publication.

Which 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class trim should I buy?

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class is offered in 2 trim levels: G 550 and AMG G 63.

Here's the short version:

• G 550: This is the smarter starting point if you want the classic G-Class look, strong performance, and the full luxury-and-tech experience without paying for the AMG upgrade. It still delivers serious off-road ability and the core character that makes the G-Class special.
• AMG G 63: Choose this if you want the most powerful and most dramatic version, along with the AMG-specific suspension tuning and a more performance-focused personality. It suits you best if you care more about speed and presence than value.

The safety package is strong across the lineup, with standard driver-assistance features and added 2025 enhancements that improve everyday usability.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you have room to shop carefully without waiting for a deep bargain cycle.

• Deal availability: 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 750 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.51% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 96.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $189,935, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class's resale value?

The current average of $189,943 sits slightly below last year's $203,178.

That softer pricing can help you buy more strategically now, but it also suggests the market has adjusted downward from where it was a year ago. If you plan to sell later, the G-Class’s strong brand appeal and distinctive identity should help support demand, especially for well-kept examples with desirable equipment.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class safe?

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) hadn’t released safety ratings for the G-Class at the time of publication.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver-assistance features include forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, park assist, a 360-degree camera system, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, safe exit assist, and traffic sign recognition. Mercedes also includes Pre-Safe, which can prepare the cabin for an imminent crash by tightening seatbelts and closing windows.

For 2025, the G-Class adds route-based speed adaptation for adaptive cruise control, automated lane centering, and an emergency-stop feature that can bring the vehicle to a standstill if the driver becomes incapacitated.

Should I buy a 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 96.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.51% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2025 model brings updated powertrains and tech while preserving the G-Class’s distinctive character.

The bottom line: If you want the freshest version of the G-Class with updated powertrains and tech, the 2025 model is the one to target. If you are more price-sensitive, a nearby model year may still give you much of the same personality and capability for less money.
