How much does the 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class cost?

Prices have softened 7.54% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 773 listings available, which gives you a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Technology.

You get a vehicle with unmistakable design, strong personality, and a rare mix of luxury and ruggedness. It is aimed at you if you want something far less conventional than a typical luxury SUV, and the 2025 refresh adds updated powertrains and tech.

The trade-offs are real: it is not especially strong on cargo space, and the seats are described as uncomfortable. It also lands poorly on value for money.

33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The G-Class is described as a modern Mercedes with updated powertrains and tech, and its rugged character is paired with a strong off-road focus. The new mild-hybrid setup and downsized G 550 engine are presented as part of a broader refresh, while Mercedes also backs it with a four-year, 50,000-mile new-vehicle warranty.

The performance content emphasizes that the G-Class remains genuinely quick and capable, and the cost-effectiveness content notes that the mild-hybrid systems and smaller engine might improve efficiency over the prior model year. For a used buyer, the main long-term ownership risk is that this is still a costly, high-maintenance luxury SUV with fuel consumption that will not be frugal.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 97% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially because this is a high-value luxury SUV where repairs can be expensive. Focus on overall condition, signs of hard use, and whether the vehicle’s equipment and electronics work as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base G 550 gets 19-inch wheels, while 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires and 20-inch wheels are also available; AMG G 63 models come standard with 20-inch wheels, with 22-inch wheels and carbon-fiber exterior trim optional. The cabin is opulent even in off-the-rack form, but AMG models add a sportier steering wheel and a more performance-focused feel.
• Powertrain: The G 550 uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six rated at 443 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque, while the AMG G 63 keeps a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with 577 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque. Both use a nine-speed automatic, permanent 4WD, and locking front, center, and rear differentials.
• Safety package: Standard driver-assistance features include forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, park assist, a 360-degree camera system, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, safe exit assist, and traffic sign recognition. The 2025 model also adds route-based speed adaptation, automated lane centering, and an emergency-stop feature.
• Infotainment: You get dual 12.3-inch screens, standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and MBUX with augmented reality navigation and excellent voice recognition. The Transparent Hood feature is especially useful if you plan to use the G-Class off-road or in tight urban spaces.
• Fuel efficiency: EPA fuel-economy ratings were not available at the time of publication, and the model is expected to remain thirsty.

Which 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class trim should I buy?

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class is offered in 2 trim levels: G 550 and AMG G 63.

Here's the short version:

• G 550: This is the better-value choice if you want the G-Class experience without paying for the AMG upgrade. You still get the distinctive design, strong off-road capability, and the updated inline-six powertrain, plus the standard tech and driver-assistance features.
• AMG G 63: Choose this if you want the most powerful and most dramatic version, with the twin-turbo V8, stronger acceleration, and the new AMG Active Ride Control suspension. It suits you best if performance and presence matter more than value.

The standard safety and driver-assistance package is broad, but the IIHS and NHTSA had not released ratings at the time of publication.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find opportunities.

• Deal availability: 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 773 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.54% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 97.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $190,185, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class's resale value?

The current average of $190,185 sits slightly below last year's $205,697.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you as a buyer now but may also mean future sellers need to be realistic on pricing. Because the model still carries strong desirability and a distinctive image, it should remain easier to market than a more ordinary luxury SUV.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class safe?

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class had not yet received IIHS or NHTSA crash-test ratings at the time of publication.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver-assistance features include forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, park assist, a 360-degree camera system, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, safe exit assist, and traffic sign recognition. Mercedes also includes Pre-Safe, which can tighten seatbelts and close windows if a crash appears imminent.

For 2025, the G-Class adds route-based speed adaptation for adaptive cruise control, automated lane centering, and an emergency-stop feature that can bring the SUV to a standstill if the driver becomes incapacitated.

Should I buy a 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 97% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.54% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2025 model brings updated powertrains and tech, while keeping the G-Class's distinctive character and off-road capability.

The bottom line: If you want the freshest version of the G-Class with updated hardware and tech, the 2025 is the right target. If your priority is simply getting into a G-Class for less money, a nearby model year may be worth considering, especially if you can find a well-kept example with the equipment you want.
