Used 2025 Mazda CX-90 for Sale nearSaint Joseph, MO

How much does the 2025 Mazda CX-90 cost?

Prices have softened 19.34% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,808 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-90 a good car?

The 2025 Mazda CX-90 earns an expert rating of 6.17/10.

The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

It stands out as a three-row SUV that aims to feel more upscale than many family haulers, with unusual powertrain choices for the segment and styling that helps it feel distinctive. The trade-offs are clear, though: the cabin is set farther back, which reduces passenger and cargo space, and the technology can be frustrating to use.

The main drawbacks are the underwhelming base engine and the noisy driving experience.

For shoppers who want a three-row SUV with personality and a premium lean, it makes sense to consider. The market also shows 39.5% good or great deals, which suggests there are worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-90 reliable?

The 2025 Mazda CX-90 is presented as a well-engineered SUV with strong safety credentials and a premium-feeling design, but its refinement is mixed. The powertrain can feel unpredictable before it warms up, and the drivetrain’s behavior can be less polished than the rest of the vehicle’s presentation.

The performance notes also point to unwanted engine surge and delayed response in some situations, which can undermine confidence in daily use. On the positive side, Mazda’s i-Stop system is intended to improve fuel economy, and the plug-in hybrid adds an electric-driving option for shorter trips.

For used buyers, the long-term ownership risk is less about outright durability than about living with a drivetrain and tech setup that may feel frustrating over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Mazda CX-90?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a thorough test drive, especially because the CX-90’s technology and drivetrain behavior can be polarizing. Pay close attention to how the transmission responds from a cold start, whether the infotainment controls feel manageable to you, and whether the cabin layout and space meet your needs.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes Select, Preferred, Premium, Premium Sport, and Premium Plus. Base trims are the ones most likely to leave you wanting more equipment, while higher trims add more upscale touches and convenience features.
• Powertrain: You can choose a turbocharged 3.3-liter inline six or a plug-in hybrid. The standard engine is rated at 280 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque, while the Turbo S version increases output to 319 hp and 369 lb-ft, or 340 hp with premium gas. The plug-in hybrid is rated for 25 miles of electric range.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beam headlights, and a vehicle exit warning system. Higher trims add steering assist for blind-spot monitoring, emergency lane-keeping assist, front cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, and a surround-view camera system.
• Infotainment: The CX-90 uses a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto allow touch operation, but the native Mazda Connect system relies on the center-console knob and buttons. There is no conversational digital voice assistant.
• Fuel efficiency: The 3.3 Turbo and 3.3 Turbo S are rated at 25 mpg combined, and the plug-in hybrid is rated for 25 miles of electric range before operating like the other models.

Which 2025 Mazda CX-90 trim should I buy?

The 2025 Mazda CX-90 is offered in 5 trim levels: Select, Preferred, Premium, Premium Sport, and Premium Plus.

Here's the short version:

• Select: This is the entry point, so it makes the most sense if you want the CX-90’s core design, safety, and driving character at the lowest price.
• Preferred: This is the best-value trim if you want a more satisfying mix of comfort and equipment without pushing too far up the price ladder.
• Premium: This is the sweet spot for shoppers who want a more upscale feel and more of the CX-90’s premium character.
• Premium Sport: Choose this if you want a more distinctive appearance and a richer feature set than the lower trims.
• Premium Plus: This is the trim to buy if you want the most upscale version and are willing to pay for it.

Higher trims also bring more advanced safety equipment, including steering assist for blind-spot monitoring, emergency lane-keeping assist, front cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, and a surround-view camera system.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Mazda CX-90?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop but still want to move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 39.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,808 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 19.34% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 92.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $33,554, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Mazda CX-90's resale value?

The current average of $33,554 sits slightly below last year's $41,600.

That drop suggests the CX-90 has moved into a more buyer-friendly pricing zone, which can help you if you’re shopping now. For a future seller, it also means you should expect more depreciation pressure than you would have seen a year ago.

If you buy at today’s average, your resale outcome will depend heavily on trim, condition, and mileage. Well-kept examples with strong equipment and clean history should hold up better than higher-mileage or heavily used versions.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-90 safe?

The 2025 Mazda CX-90 earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and five-star ratings in all crash tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, along with a four-star rollover resistance rating.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Mazda equips it with a long list of standard driver aids, including forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beam headlights, and a vehicle exit warning system.

Higher trims add steering assist to blind-spot monitoring, emergency lane-keeping assist, front cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, and a surround-view camera system. The main caveat is that the gas-only CX-90 models get four-star ratings in frontal-impact testing.

Should I buy a 2025 Mazda CX-90 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 39.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 19.34% compared with last year.
• It combines distinctive styling, unusual powertrains, and strong safety ratings.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $30,767, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $33,554 average.
• It emphasizes engaging handling and a more driver-focused feel.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It keeps the premium look and feel while adding minor lineup updates.
• It also brings solid safety ratings and a fairly fuel-efficient standard gasoline powertrain.

The bottom line: The 2025 is the right pick if you want the CX-90’s strongest mix of safety, style, and market availability. If your priority is saving money, the 2024 is the better value path; if you want the latest version with minor updates, the 2026 is the cleaner alternative.
