Used 2025 Mazda CX-90 for Sale nearNew Brunswick, NJ

How much does the 2025 Mazda CX-90 cost?

Prices have softened 19.46% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,919 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for you to compare trims and prices.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-90 a good car?

The 2025 Mazda CX-90 earns a 6.2/10 expert rating.

The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

It stands out as a three-row SUV that takes a different approach from the typical midsize family hauler, with unusual powertrain choices, a stylish design, and premium interior materials. Those strengths make it appealing if you want something that feels more upscale and more engaging to drive than many rivals.

The trade-offs are real, though: the base engine is underwhelming, the technology is unintuitive, and the cabin sacrifices some passenger and cargo space. Even so, the CX-90 still makes sense if you value style and driving enjoyment alongside family-hauling ability.

With 39.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-90 reliable?

The CX-90’s appeal leans more on its premium feel, safety, and driving character than on a reputation for low-cost ownership. Mazda’s own materials emphasize that the SUV looks and feels more expensive than it is, and the expert evaluation also points to a well-built cabin and strong safety performance.

The powertrain is less convincing, though. The expert notes describe drivetrain refinement as lacking, especially at startup, with unpredictable power delivery and transmission behavior until the vehicle warms up. That kind of behavior can matter in daily use because it affects how settled the SUV feels in traffic and around town.

Mazda includes one year of complimentary Mazda Connected Services, which is a small ownership perk. For used buyers, the bigger long-term risk is that the CX-90’s complexity and refinement issues may be more noticeable as mileage adds up.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Mazda CX-90?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re comparing multiple trims or higher-mileage examples. Focus on how the drivetrain behaves from a cold start, how smoothly the transmission responds, and whether the cabin electronics and driver aids work as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes Select, Preferred, Premium, Premium Sport, and Premium Plus. Base versions miss some of the richer cabin touches and convenience equipment that help the CX-90 feel upscale.
• Powertrain: You can shop the turbocharged inline-six or the plug-in hybrid setup. The gas engine is rated at 280 horsepower in standard form, while the turbocharged six in higher output form and the PHEV give you different trade-offs between performance and efficiency.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beam headlights, and a vehicle exit warning system. Higher trims add steering assist for blind-spot monitoring, emergency lane-keeping assist, front cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, and a surround-view camera system.
• Infotainment: The cabin uses a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support touch operation, but the native Mazda Connect system relies on the center-console controller rather than touchscreen input.
• Fuel efficiency: The standard 3.3 Turbo and 3.3 Turbo S are rated at 25 mpg combined, and the plug-in hybrid offers 25 miles of electric range before operating at 25 mpg combined.

Which 2025 Mazda CX-90 trim should I buy?

The 2025 Mazda CX-90 is offered in 5 trim levels: Select, Preferred, Premium, Premium Sport, and Premium Plus.

Here's the short version:

• Select: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the CX-90’s core design, safety, and driving character at the lowest price.
• Preferred: This is the best-value trim if you want a more complete ownership experience without pushing too far up the price ladder.
• Premium: This is the sweet spot if you want a stronger luxury feel and more of the equipment that helps the CX-90 justify its upscale image.
• Premium Sport: Choose this if you want a more distinctive appearance and a richer feature mix while staying within the mainstream of the lineup.
• Premium Plus: This is the most fully equipped choice, and it suits you if you want the most upscale version of the CX-90.

Mazda adds more advanced safety equipment as you move up the trim ladder, including steering assist for blind-spot monitoring, emergency lane-keeping assist, front cross-traffic alert, parking sensors, and a surround-view camera system.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Mazda CX-90?

The current market looks moderately favorable if you’re a selective buyer.

• Deal availability: 39.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,919 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 19.46% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 91.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $32,369, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Mazda CX-90's resale value?

The current average of $32,369 sits slightly below last year's $40,189.

That drop suggests the CX-90 has become more affordable on the used market, which can help you buy in at a lower entry point. For a future seller, though, it also means you should expect resale values to reflect the model’s recent price softening rather than hold near last year’s level.

If you plan to sell later, the strongest protection against depreciation will likely come from choosing a desirable trim, keeping mileage reasonable, and maintaining the vehicle carefully. The current market trend favors buyers more than sellers.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-90 safe?

The 2025 Mazda CX-90 is a Top Safety Pick+ from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, and gas-only models get four-star ratings in frontal-impact testing from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Mazda makes a long list of driver aids standard, including forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beam headlights, and a vehicle exit warning system. Higher trims add steering assist for blind-spot monitoring, emergency lane-keeping assist, front cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, and a surround-view camera system.

One caveat is that the gas-only CX-90 does not match the plug-in hybrid’s full set of NHTSA crash results, so you should pay attention to which powertrain you’re shopping.

Should I buy a 2025 Mazda CX-90 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 39.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 19.46% compared with last year.
• It combines unusual powertrains, premium design, and strong safety in a family-size SUV.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $30,029, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $32,369 average.
• It emphasizes engaging handling and a premium feel.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It adds minor updates while keeping the CX-90’s premium look, solid safety, and enjoyable driving character.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of current pricing, strong safety, and upscale appeal, the 2025 is the primary path to consider. If your priority is spending less, the 2024 is the better value play.
