How much does the 2025 Mazda CX-5 cost?

Prices have softened 7.11% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 8,049 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and prices.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-5 a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Mazda CX-5 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

It stands out in the compact SUV class by blending practicality with a more engaging driving character than many rivals. Mazda positions it as an attractive, upscale alternative that still delivers driving enjoyment, and the styling, premium interior materials, and sporty feel support that goal.

The trade-offs are clear: rear-seat space is tighter than in some rivals, cargo capacity is limited, and fuel economy trails the class. Even so, if you want a compact SUV that feels more rewarding to drive than most, the CX-5 fits that use case well.

Good and great deals: 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-5 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The CX-5’s reliability case is helped by its straightforward mechanical setup and the fact that its systems operated without false alarms or technical glitches during testing. Its standard advanced safety equipment and generally polished execution also point to a vehicle that should feel well sorted in daily use.

The base engine is described as adequate for most drivers, and the turbocharged version adds confidence and ease when you want stronger acceleration. Mazda also notes that the adaptive cruise control smoothly maintains a consistent gap to traffic ahead.

If you buy used, the main long-term ownership risk is that the same sporty tuning that makes it appealing can also mean higher running costs if you prioritize fuel economy and space.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Mazda CX-5?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re comparing multiple trims or higher-mileage examples. Focus on cabin condition, tire wear, brake feel, and whether the features you want are actually present on the specific trim you’re considering.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin emphasizes usability over flash, with traditional physical buttons, knobs, and gauges instead of a massive touchscreen or customizable instrument panel. Base trims are simpler, while higher trims add more upscale equipment and convenience features.
• Powertrain: The CX-5 is available with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder base engine and a turbocharged version. The base engine is adequate for most drivers, while the turbo model delivers much stronger acceleration and a more confident feel.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. Higher trims add features such as adaptive headlights, a surround-view camera system, parking sensors, traffic jam assist, driver attention monitoring, and rear automatic braking.
• Infotainment: Every model gets a 10.25-inch infotainment display. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, and wireless phone integration arrives on the midrange Premium Plus trim; that trim also adds wireless charging.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine is estimated at 26 mpg city and 30 mpg highway, while the turbo engine is rated at 22 mpg city and 27 mpg highway. The CX-5’s fuel economy trails many rivals.

Which 2025 Mazda CX-5 trim should I buy?

The 2025 Mazda CX-5 is offered in 6 trim levels: S, S Select, Premium Plus, Carbon Turbo, Turbo Premium, Signature.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the CX-5’s style and driving character. It gets the core package, but you’ll miss some convenience and comfort upgrades found higher up.
• S Select: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds keyless entry, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, and synthetic leather seat upholstery. If you want a more comfortable daily driver without jumping too far in price, this is the sweet spot.
• Premium Plus: This trim is the best choice if you want the most useful tech and convenience upgrades without going all the way to the turbo models. It adds wireless phone integration, wireless charging, a head-up display, adaptive headlights, a surround-view camera system, and front and rear parking sensors.
• Carbon Turbo: This is the first turbo model and the right pick if you care most about stronger acceleration and a more luxurious feel. Mazda says the turbo models deliver a more refined interior with genuine leather upholstery and upgraded trim elements.
• Turbo Premium: Choose this if you want the turbo powertrain plus added driver-assistance support. It includes traffic jam assist, which combines lane-keep assist and adaptive cruise control to reduce some of the burden of driving.
• Signature: This is the top trim for shoppers who want the most upscale CX-5 experience. It adds a 10-speaker Bose premium audio system, a driver attention monitor, and rear automatic braking.

All trim levels come standard with the core advanced safety features, while the upper trims add more convenience and driver-assistance equipment.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Mazda CX-5?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 8,049 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.11% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 90.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $27,566, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Mazda CX-5's resale value?

The current average of $27,566 sits slightly below last year's $29,676.

That price movement suggests the CX-5 has become more approachable for used buyers, which can help demand in the near term. For a future seller, the current softness means you may not see the same pricing strength that existed a year ago, especially if your vehicle has higher mileage or lacks desirable equipment.

On the other hand, the CX-5’s strong appeal as a stylish, enjoyable-to-drive compact SUV should help it remain attractive to shoppers who value feel and refinement. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-5 safe?

The 2025 Mazda CX-5 earns five-star ratings in all NHTSA evaluations except rollover protection, where it received a four-star rating.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

All trim levels come standard with forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. Higher trims add adaptive headlights, a surround-view camera system, front and rear parking sensors, traffic jam assist, a driver attention monitor, and rear automatic braking.

A key caveat is that current IIHS results for this model year were not yet available in the source material, so the most current crash-test picture comes from NHTSA.

Should I buy a 2025 Mazda CX-5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.11% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It balances sporty driving feel with upscale materials and a practical compact-SUV footprint.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $26,748, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $27,566 average.
• It feels better than ever thanks to continuous refinement.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It brings a full redesign with more space, more technology, and standard all-wheel drive.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of current pricing, strong satisfaction, and sporty character, the 2025 is the safer all-around pick. If your priority is saving money, the 2024 is the value play; if you want the newest design and more space, the 2026 is the upgrade path.

How does the 2025 Mazda CX-5 compare to the 2025 Honda CR-V?

The CX-5 is the better pick if you want a lower used price and a more engaging driving character. The CR-V is the stronger choice if you care more about efficiency and a roomier, more practical package.
