How much does the 2025 Mazda CX-5 cost?

Prices have softened 7.56% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 7,831 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and prices.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-5 a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Mazda CX-5 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

The CX-5 stands out as a stylish, upscale-feeling compact SUV that still puts driving enjoyment first. It aims at you if you want a more engaging alternative to the usual practical crossovers, with premium interior materials and a sporty character that make it feel more special than many rivals.

The trade-offs are clear: rear-seat space is tighter than in some competitors, cargo room is limited, and fuel economy trails the class. Even so, the driving experience and polished cabin give it a strong appeal if you value feel and refinement over maximum utility.

42.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-5 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The CX-5’s reliability case is helped by its straightforward mechanical setup and the way its systems behaved during testing. The available information points to a vehicle that feels well sorted rather than overly complicated, which can be a plus when you’re shopping used.

Its performance hardware is conventional, with a six-speed automatic and standard all-wheel drive across the lineup, and that simplicity can be reassuring for ownership. The cabin and controls also lean toward durability and usability rather than gimmicks.

If you’re buying used, the main long-term risk is that a neglected example could be more expensive to live with if you prioritize fuel economy or want maximum practicality.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Mazda CX-5?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and verify that the specific car you’re considering has a clean maintenance and accident record. A pre-purchase inspection is especially worthwhile if you’re comparing higher-mileage examples or a turbo model, since you’ll want to confirm that the drivetrain and brakes feel tight and that the cabin shows normal wear.

Focus on how the car fits your needs in daily use: rear-seat room, cargo space, and fuel economy are the main compromises to evaluate. If those areas matter a lot to you, make sure the condition and price justify the trade-offs.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base trim is light on convenience features, while the S Select adds keyless entry, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, and synthetic leather seat upholstery. Higher trims add more luxury and convenience, so you should compare equipment carefully if you want the best value.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 187 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque, or a Turbo model with 256 hp and 320 lb-ft. The base engine is adequate, while the turbo feels much stronger and more confident.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. Higher trims add adaptive headlights, a surround-view camera system, parking sensors, traffic jam assist, driver attention monitoring, and rear automatic braking.
• Infotainment: Every model gets a 10.25-inch display. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, wireless phone integration arrives on the midrange Premium Plus trim, and that trim also adds a wireless charging pad. Premium Plus and above also get a head-up display.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine is rated at 26 mpg city, 30 mpg highway, and 28 mpg combined. The Turbo engine is rated at 22 mpg city, 27 mpg highway, and 24 mpg combined.

Which 2025 Mazda CX-5 trim should I buy?

The 2025 Mazda CX-5 is offered in 5 trim levels: S, S Select, Carbon Turbo, Premium Plus, Turbo Signature.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and are comfortable with a simpler feature set.
• S Select: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds keyless entry, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, and synthetic leather seat upholstery without jumping all the way to the turbo models.
• Carbon Turbo: This is the right pick if you want the stronger turbocharged engine and a more luxurious interior with genuine leather upholstery and upgraded trim elements.
• Premium Plus: This trim is the sweet spot if you want more convenience and tech, including wireless phone integration, a wireless charging pad, a head-up display, adaptive headlights, a surround-view camera system, and parking sensors.
• Turbo Signature: Choose this if you want the most fully equipped CX-5, including the premium audio upgrade, driver attention monitoring, and rear automatic braking.

All trim levels come standard with forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Mazda CX-5?

The market looks favorable for buyers right now.

• Deal availability: 42.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 7,831 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.56% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 91.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $27,714, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Mazda CX-5's resale value?

The current average of $27,714 sits slightly below last year's $29,980.

That price movement suggests the CX-5 has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. A softer market today can also make it easier for you to find a well-equipped example without paying peak pricing.

Because the model has strong appeal for shoppers who value style and driving enjoyment, demand should remain reasonably steady for clean, well-kept examples. Trim choice and condition will matter a lot, especially if you want to protect value later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-5 safe?

The 2025 Mazda CX-5 earns five-star ratings in all NHTSA evaluations except rollover protection, where it receives a four-star rating.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. Higher trims add adaptive headlights, a surround-view camera system, front and rear parking sensors, traffic jam assist, a driver attention monitor, and rear automatic braking.

The rollover result is the main caveat to keep in mind, even though the rest of the crash-test performance is strong.

Should I buy a 2025 Mazda CX-5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 42.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.56% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It keeps the CX-5’s sporty driving feel, upscale cabin, and standard all-wheel drive.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $26,867, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $27,714 average.
• It feels refined, well-rounded, and still highly appealing for active urban use.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It brings a full redesign with more space, more technology, and standard Google built-in.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of price, inventory, and the CX-5’s familiar strengths, the 2025 is the safe choice. If you’re focused on saving money, the 2024 is the value play. If you want the newest body and the most modern cabin, the 2026 is the upgrade path.
