Is the 2025 Lexus IS a good car?

The 2025 Lexus IS stands out as a compact luxury sports sedan with a long-running reputation for being fun to drive. It sits at the entry point of the Lexus lineup, which helps explain its comparatively low price point and smaller footprint, and it has long appealed to buyers who want something sporty without moving up to a larger sedan.

It also has a broad performance history, having been sold over the years with a wagon body style, a convertible, and even a high-performance V8. For 2025, the IS remains attractive because it still offers the inline-four turbo that was available from 2015 to 2025, and it is also one of the model years in which a V8 was available. The model’s appeal is strengthened by its reputation for reliability and by the fact that it is aimed at young professionals or drivers who rarely carry passengers.

39.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Lexus IS reliable?

The 2025 Lexus IS has a reputation for reliability, and that is one of the reasons it continues to appeal to used-car shoppers. It also benefits from being a long-running Lexus model with a straightforward mission as a compact luxury sports sedan.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is finding a car that has been driven hard or maintained inconsistently, so condition and service history matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Lexus IS?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should prioritize a history report first, then focus on a pre-purchase inspection if the car looks promising. Pay close attention to signs of prior damage, uneven wear, and overall interior and exterior condition, since those details can tell you more than the listing photos.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Lexus IS?

This looks like a moderate market where selective buyers can still find value if they shop carefully.

• Deal availability: 39.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

If you find a listing below $45,288, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Lexus IS's resale value?

The current average of $45,364 sits slightly below last year's $46,463.

That price movement suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more confidently today. If you plan to sell later, the current softness means your eventual resale value will depend heavily on mileage, condition, and how well the car is documented. A clean history and strong maintenance records should matter more than ever if you want to protect value.

Should I buy a 2025 Lexus IS or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 39.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.37% compared with last year.

Consider the 2026 if:

• The 2026 adds updated digital tech, refreshed design, and re-tuned steering and suspension.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2025 is the stronger starting point because pricing has softened and there are still plenty of listings to compare. If you care more about newer tech and a more modern feel, the 2026 is the better alternative, but price-sensitive buyers should start with the 2025 and shop the cleanest examples first.
