What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Lexus GX?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 97.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and verify that the specific truck you’re considering matches the equipment you want. A pre-purchase inspection is especially important if you plan to use the GX for towing, commuting, or off-road travel, since those use cases can reveal wear that isn’t obvious in photos. Focus on overall condition, tire wear, and signs that the vehicle has been used hard.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Premium trim gives you the core GX experience, while the Overtrail and Overtrail+ add the off-road hardware that the base setup does not include. The cabin is described as clean and elegant, with quality-feeling switchgear and a chic dashboard, center console, and door design.
• Powertrain: Every GX trim uses a twin-turbo 3.4-liter V6 with 349 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and full-time four-wheel drive. The GX is also rated at 15 mpg city, 21 mpg highway, and 17 mpg combined.
• Safety package: Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 includes adaptive cruise control with Curve Speed Management, lane-centering assistance, road sign assist, lane-departure alert, automatic high-beams, rear cross-traffic alert, and blind-spot monitoring. The Overtrail+ tester also included pedestrian detection as standard.
• Infotainment: The GX uses a 14-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 12.3-inch gauge cluster. Wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth are standard.
• Fuel efficiency: The GX is rated at 15 mpg city, 21 mpg highway, and 17 mpg combined, and mixed driving returned 14.9 mpg in testing.

Which 2025 Lexus GX trim should I buy?

The 2025 Lexus GX is offered in 6 trim levels: Premium, Premium+, Overtrail, Overtrail+, Luxury, and Luxury+.

Here's the short version:

• Premium: This is the entry point and the best-value choice if you want the GX’s core strengths without paying for extra luxury or trail hardware. It gives you the athletic powertrain, strong standard tech, and the upscale feel that define the model.
• Premium+: This is the trim to consider if you want a more rounded daily driver with added comfort and convenience while staying below the more specialized versions. It’s the sensible step up for shoppers who want more equipment without jumping straight to the off-road or luxury-focused trims.
• Overtrail: This is the trim to buy if you want the GX’s off-road character to be a real part of the package. It adds the hardware that makes the GX especially capable away from pavement, and it’s the right pick if trail use matters to you.
• Overtrail+: This is the most capable choice for buyers who want the fullest off-road setup and are willing to pay for it. It’s the trim that best matches the GX’s adventurous personality.
• Luxury: This trim shifts the focus toward comfort rather than trail-readiness. It suits you if you want the GX’s style and refinement first, with less emphasis on rugged use.
• Luxury+: This is the most comfort-oriented version and the one to choose if you want the most upscale GX experience.

The safety suite is standard across the lineup, which makes the trim decision more about comfort, luxury, and off-road equipment than basic protection.

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market.

• Deal availability: 37.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 927 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.62% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 97.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $85,928, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Lexus GX's resale value?

The current average of $85,928 sits slightly below last year's $93,013.

That price movement suggests the GX has softened enough to create a better entry point for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to be realistic about pricing. If you buy well now, you may have less downside risk than someone who paid closer to the prior-year average. The GX’s strong appeal and broad capability should help support demand, especially for well-kept examples.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Lexus GX safe?

The 2025 Lexus GX has not been rated by IIHS or NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 is the standard driver-assistance suite, and it includes adaptive cruise control with Curve Speed Management, lane-centering assistance, road sign assist, lane-departure alert, automatic high-beams, rear cross-traffic alert, and blind-spot monitoring. A 360-degree camera system and rearview camera also help visibility, and the Overtrail+ tester added trail-viewing cameras.

Should I buy a 2025 Lexus GX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 37.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 97.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.62% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines great looks, easy-to-use technology, and serious off-road capability.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It adds a clearer luxury-off-roading identity with more explicit towing and cargo emphasis.

The bottom line: The 2025 is the better buy if you want a well-rounded GX with strong market availability and a softer price than last year. If you’re shopping primarily for the newest version of the same formula and don’t mind paying more, the 2026 is the cleaner alternative. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2025’s current market position makes it the more compelling path.
