How much does the 2025 Kia Sorento cost?

Prices have softened 7.32% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,378 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 Kia Sorento a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Kia Sorento earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.33/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Cost effectiveness.

It stands out as a “right-sized” SUV that is larger than a typical compact but smaller than many three-row midsize SUVs, so it fits you well if you want occasional third-row use rather than a full-time people mover. The turbo-gas version also brings a powerful engine, impressive technology, and Kia’s great warranty.

The trade-offs are clear: the interior materials feel cheap, the third row is cramped, and cargo space is limited. Even so, the combination of strong power, useful tech, and family-friendly packaging makes it appealing if you want versatility without moving up to a larger SUV.

Only 37.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market is selective rather than deeply discounted.

Is the 2025 Kia Sorento reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Sorento’s appeal is reinforced by Kia’s great warranty and its easy daily livability. The turbo-gas version is also described as rewarding in everyday driving, and the model’s strong powertrain and tech package support confidence in ownership.

The turbocharged engine is presented as a far more satisfying choice than the base setup, and the vehicle’s long warranty coverage adds peace of mind. Kia Connect is complimentary for three years, which can also help reduce early ownership friction if you use the connected features.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the cabin materials and packaging compromises may age less gracefully than the mechanical and tech strengths.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Kia Sorento?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re shopping higher-mileage examples or trims with more equipment. Focus on cabin condition, because the interior materials are described as a mixed bag, and check that the third row and cargo area meet your real-world needs.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The core trim levels include LX, S, EX, SX, and SX Prestige. The LX is the most basic version, while the higher trims add more upscale equipment and, in some cases, more sophisticated safety technology. The X-Line appearance package is available on the EX and SX and comes standard on the SX Prestige, while the X-Pro SX Prestige sits at the top of the lineup with exclusive enhancements. If you want the best value, the EX is the trim to study closely because it moves you into the stronger turbocharged engine and more desirable equipment without going all the way to the top.
• Powertrain: LX and S use a 191-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder with an eight-speed automatic, and it can return up to 26 mpg in combined driving. All other gas Sorentos use a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 281 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The turbo engine is the more satisfying choice if you want stronger acceleration.
• Safety package: Highway Driving Assist is standard on all 2025 Sorento models except the LX. SX and SX Prestige add numerous active collision avoidance features, evasive steering assist, a camera-based Blind-Spot View Monitor, and the surround-view camera system. SX and SX Prestige also upgrade Highway Driving Assist to HDA 2 with lane-changing functionality.
• Infotainment: The Sorento uses a 24-inch panoramic display, and SX and SX Prestige pair a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Every 2025 Sorento has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Digital Key technology is part of the infotainment system.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine returns up to 26 mpg in combined driving, while the turbocharged engine is rated at 23 mpg in combined driving. During evaluation, the X-Pro SX Prestige averaged 23.4 mpg.

Which 2025 Kia Sorento trim should I buy?

The 2025 Kia Sorento is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, S, EX, SX, and SX Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point if you want the Sorento’s size and packaging at the lowest cost, but it uses the less powerful 191-horsepower engine and misses out on Highway Driving Assist.
• S: This trim keeps the lower-cost powertrain but adds more equipment than the LX, making it a sensible step up if you want value without chasing the turbo engine.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it brings the turbocharged 2.5-liter engine and can be paired with the X-Line appearance package.
• SX: This trim adds more upscale equipment and can also get the X-Line package, so it suits you if you want a more premium feel without going all the way to the top.
• SX Prestige: This is the most luxurious mainstream choice, with standard X-Line treatment, more advanced safety tech, and the most upscale presentation in the gas lineup.

The X-Pro SX Prestige adds rugged-looking hardware and exclusive enhancements, but it is more about appearance and equipment than true off-road capability.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Kia Sorento?

The market looks moderate and selective, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 37.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,378 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.32% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 94.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $31,601, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Kia Sorento's resale value?

The current average of $31,601 sits slightly below last year's $34,096.

That price movement suggests the Sorento has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right number. If you shop carefully now, you may reduce the amount of value loss left in the vehicle by the time you sell it.

The model’s strong equipment mix and broad appeal should help it remain attractive to used buyers, especially if you choose a well-equipped trim with desirable tech and safety features.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Kia Sorento safe?

The 2025 Sorento earns five-star overall and individual four-star ratings for its frontal impact and rollover resistance evaluations from NHTSA, and it earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS, though that accolade is valid only for the 2024 calendar year.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Kia installs plenty of standard safety features, and higher trims add more advanced technology. Highway Driving Assist is standard on all 2025 Sorento models except the LX, and SX and SX Prestige add numerous active collision avoidance features, evasive steering assist, a camera-based Blind-Spot View Monitor, and the surround-view camera system. SX and SX Prestige also add lane-changing functionality to create Highway Driving Assist 2.

A key caveat is that the Sorento may lose its IIHS Top Safety Pick rating in 2025, so safety-minded shoppers should pay close attention to the latest test results and trim-specific equipment.

Should I buy a 2025 Kia Sorento or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 37.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.32% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It keeps the refreshed look, strong turbo-gas powertrain, and broad tech package from the recent update.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $28,983, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $31,601 average.
• It brings a value-minded middle ground with a standard third row and a fresher update package.

The bottom line: If you want the latest pricing data and the current-year market mix, the 2025 is the better target. If your priority is saving money up front, the 2024 is the smarter path because it delivers much of the Sorento’s core appeal for less.
