How much does the 2025 Kia Sorento cost?

Prices have softened 7.45% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,311 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2025 Kia Sorento a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Kia Sorento earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.33/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Cost effectiveness.

It stands out as a family-friendly SUV that sits between a typical compact and many three-row midsize SUVs, so you get a “right-sized” package if you want extra seating without moving up to a larger vehicle. The turbo-gas version also brings a powerful engine, impressive technology, and a great warranty.

The trade-offs are clear: the interior materials feel cheap, the third row is cramped, and cargo space is limited.

36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2025 Kia Sorento reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Sorento’s appeal is reinforced by its great warranty and its easy daily livability. Its turbocharged powertrain is described as satisfying, and the SUV’s broad mix of gasoline, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid choices points to a well-developed lineup.

The turbo engine is paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, so you should expect a different driving feel than a conventional automatic. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the cabin’s cheaper materials and tight third row may age less gracefully than the mechanicals.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Kia Sorento?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with more equipment. Focus on cabin condition, since the interior materials are a known weak point, and make sure the third row and cargo area fit your real-world needs.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The core trim levels include LX, S, EX, SX, and SX Prestige. The LX and S use the less powerful 2.5-liter engine, while the higher trims upgrade to the turbocharged 2.5-liter. The X-Line appearance package adds blacked-out exterior trim and detailing, and the X-Pro SX Prestige adds exclusive front and rear bumper covers, enhanced utility roof rails, unique matte-black 17-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, and a higher towing capacity. The best-value trim is the one that gives you the equipment you want without pushing you into the priciest versions.
• Powertrain: The LX and S use a 191-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder with an eight-speed automatic and up to 26 mpg in combined driving. The other gas Sorentos use a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 281 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, and it is rated at 23 mpg in combined driving.
• Safety package: Highway Driving Assist is standard on all 2025 Sorento models except the LX. SX and SX Prestige add numerous active collision avoidance features, evasive steering assist, a camera-based Blind-Spot View Monitor, the surround-view camera system, machine learning for adaptive cruise control, and Highway Driving Assist 2 with lane-changing functionality.
• Infotainment: The Sorento uses a 24-inch panoramic display, and SX and SX Prestige pair a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Every 2025 Sorento has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Kia Connect adds voice recognition, 911 Connect, find-my-car, remote access, and safe driver settings.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine returns up to 26 mpg in combined driving, while the turbocharged engine is rated at 23 mpg in combined driving. During evaluation, the X-Pro SX Prestige averaged 23.4 mpg.

Which 2025 Kia Sorento trim should I buy?

The 2025 Kia Sorento is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, S, EX, SX, and SX Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point if you want the Sorento at the lowest cost, but it uses the less powerful engine and misses Highway Driving Assist.
• S: This trim keeps the lower-cost approach while adding more equipment than the LX, making it the sensible step-up choice if you want value without chasing luxury features.
• EX: This is where the turbocharged engine arrives, so it is the better pick if you want the stronger powertrain without jumping all the way to the top.
• SX: This trim adds more advanced technology and safety equipment, making it a strong choice if you want a more premium-feeling Sorento.
• SX Prestige: This is the most upscale mainstream trim, and it is the one to target if you want the richest feature set and the most advanced driver-assistance tech.

Highway Driving Assist is standard on all 2025 Sorento models except the LX, and SX and SX Prestige add Highway Driving Assist 2.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Kia Sorento?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay disciplined.

• Deal availability: 36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,311 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.45% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 94.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $31,842, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Kia Sorento's resale value?

The current average of $31,842 sits slightly below last year's $34,405.

That softer pricing suggests the Sorento is currently more buyer-friendly than it was a year ago, which can help you if you’re shopping now. For a future seller, it also means you should expect some depreciation pressure if you buy at the wrong price or overpay for a higher trim.

The good news is that the Sorento’s broad appeal as a family-friendly, right-sized SUV should help keep demand steady. Strong equipment, a good warranty, and a desirable feature mix can support resale strength over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Kia Sorento safe?

The 2025 Sorento earns five-star overall ratings from NHTSA, with four-star ratings in frontal impact and rollover resistance evaluations.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Kia installs plenty of standard safety features, and the higher trims add more advanced technology. SX and SX Prestige bring numerous active collision avoidance features, evasive steering assist, a camera-based Blind-Spot View Monitor, the surround-view camera system, machine learning for adaptive cruise control, and Highway Driving Assist 2 with lane-changing functionality.

One caveat is that the IIHS Top Safety Pick rating is tied to the 2024 calendar year, and the model may lose that badge in 2025.

Should I buy a 2025 Kia Sorento or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.45% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It keeps the right-sized family-SUV formula and adds a new gray paint color plus black badges on some models.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $29,134, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $31,842 average.
• It adds a visual glow-up plus major infotainment and safety updates.

The bottom line: If you want the latest version of this right-sized family SUV and are comfortable paying more, the 2025 is the cleaner choice. If your priority is saving money, the 2024 is the smarter value play because it delivers much of the same core appeal for less.
