Summary

Why it stands out
The refreshed 2025 Kia K5 stands out as a stylish midsize sedan with updated exterior lighting, revised front and rear styling, and redesigned wheels. Kia also gave it new technology, redesigned dashboard controls, and more standard features, which helps keep the K5 feeling modern and well equipped. Even with those changes, it remains a good value and continues to appeal to buyers who want a family sedan that looks more distinctive than many of its rivals.
There are tradeoffs, though. The only turbocharged version is now the GT sports sedan, while other K5 models use a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that has less real-world driving punch than the previously-standard turbo four. The car is also less enjoyable to drive because of this year’s engine swap, and it still does not offer a hybrid powertrain. Even so, the K5 remains stylish and comfortable, and its great ride quality and impressive technology make it an appealing choice for shoppers who prioritize comfort and features over outright performance.

Reviewed a 2025 Kia GT-Line FWD on Apr 26, 2025
I only had the car 2 month but drove it to Florida (all around) and back and put on 3,500 miles. My car is a GT-Line, Wolf Grey with the Red interior, Bose speakers etc. The car is a real pleasure to drive. Very Quiet on the road, and my mileage exceeded the 36 mpg epa rating, and that’s while maintaining speeds of 80 mph with 2 people and fully loaded with luggage. (about 38 mpg) Little if any wind noise. Note that at times I hit much higher speeds not knowing since it was so quiet & smooth. The engine RPM was mostly between 2 to 2.1 at 80mph. The power of the 2.5 liter is good, and slightly better than the 2019 Camry I had, which was a very good car as well. The Bose 12 speaker system sounded great, and all the alert sensors and some other sensors like keeping your car steering between the lines worked very well, but I preferred to turn that off most of the time. If you turn on your turning signals to changing lanes, and a car is present, not only does your side mirrors alert you, but you’ll get sound notices and the steering wheel will vibrate. Triple redundancy. The handling is very good, and secure, brakes are excellent and has a very good feel to them. A very important note is, I appreciate that the 2.5 engine has both Direct & Port Injectors on each cylinder. Port injectors will help cleaned the valves and clear any carbon build up. This is the same arrangement my Camry 2019 had which greatly reduces or eliminates carbon buildup in these Direct Inject Engines. The Nav system worked flawlessly and quickly. I also love you can remotely start your car with the key FOB (No additional charge) or with Kia Connect though Kia connect is only free the 1st 3 years. Also, happily, it doesn’t have the stop & start engine control which can cause more wear on your starter motor with little gain on MPG. The seats are very comfortable as I can attest driving 12 hours straight on my first stop. The car’s 8 spd auto shifted smoothly in all conditions. Plenty of room inside. Lot of storage in the console area for incidentals and drinks. I enjoyed the Panoramic roof. The negative was the Combine toggle Climate & Media control is a bit counter intuitive and sometimes causes more effort to control. Trunk space is good, as I had lots of luggage. The car feels solid & hopefully reliable down the line. The only other negative which is because I do my own oil changes etc, is this car takes a Cartridge oil filter (Not spin on) and takes 6.1 quarts of oil, (Not 5 qts) but I knew this well before I bought it but it’s location and design is good. So it’s not a real big deal, but this will cost a little more for oil changes. Recommended oil chg is 7,500 but I’ll be doing it every 5 to 6K for sure. BTW recommended oil is 0 -30W. Based on my limited time but very heavy usage I highly recommend this car, and I really enjoy driving it. Very sporty looking and lots of featrues.

How much does the 2025 Kia K5 cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $27,428 |
| Year-Round Low | $23,989 |
| Year-Round High | $27,901 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $27,880 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −1.62% |
Prices have softened 1.62% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 2,416 listings available, which suggests you have a decent amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2025 Kia K5 a good car?
Yes — the 2025 Kia K5 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.33/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.
The refreshed K5 is positioned as a stylish midsize sedan with updated exterior lighting, revised front and rear styling, redesigned wheels, new technology, redesigned dashboard controls, and more standard features. It fits you well if you want a family sedan that feels modern and well equipped without moving into a more expensive class.
The trade-offs are that the only turbocharged version is now the GT sports sedan, and the other models use a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with less real-world punch than the previously standard turbo four. It’s also less enjoyable to drive than before, especially if you prioritize engagement over comfort.
Even so, the K5 remains stylish and comfortable, and its great ride quality and impressive technology make it appealing if you care more about comfort and features than outright performance. 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2025 Kia K5 reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The K5’s overall package points toward solid everyday dependability: it’s comfortable, well equipped, and built around a straightforward gasoline powertrain rather than a more complex hybrid setup. The 2.5-liter four-cylinder is described as adequate and reasonably quiet, and Kia calibrates the transmission to make the most of the available power.
The cost-effectiveness notes also point to strong ownership value, since you can get a well-equipped K5 and still save a meaningful amount versus the average new vehicle transaction price. That said, the lack of a hybrid option and the quirky controls are the main ownership annoyances to keep in mind.
For used buyers, the biggest long-term risk is that the car’s appeal depends heavily on trim and equipment, so you’ll want to make sure the specific example you choose has the features and condition you expect.
What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Kia K5?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re shopping outside the cleanest listings. Focus on how the car’s controls, driver-assistance systems, and interior surfaces have held up, since those are the areas most likely to affect day-to-day satisfaction.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base LXS, sporty-looking GT-Line, upscale EX, and GT each bring different equipment levels, and the base trim misses some of the richer features found higher up. The EX stands out for its more premium feel, while the GT is the performance-oriented choice.
- Powertrain: Most models use a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with an eight-speed automatic, while the GT gets a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 290 hp and 311 lb-ft. The standard engine is adequate but less lively than the outgoing turbo four, and AWD is optional with GT-Line.
- Safety package: Every K5 gets a long list of driver-assist features, including intersection turn assistance, active blind-spot collision avoidance, and a leading vehicle departure alert. GT-Line adds Highway Driving Assist and curve speed reduction with navigation, while EX and the GT1 Package add a surround-view camera system, blind-spot cameras, side parking sensors, and reverse automatic braking.
- Infotainment: Every 2025 K5 has a 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, multi-device Bluetooth pairing, SiriusXM, and Kia Connect services. Navigation and wireless charging start with GT-Line, and EX adds a 12.3-inch digital instrumentation panel.
- Fuel efficiency: The official EPA fuel economy estimate is 29 mpg in combined driving, and the test car averaged 24.9 mpg on a mountainous testing loop.
Which 2025 Kia K5 trim should I buy?
The 2025 Kia K5 is offered in 4 trim levels: LXS, GT-Line, EX, GT.
Here's the short version:
- LXS: This is the entry point if you want the K5’s style, standard 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, and broad driver-assistance coverage at the lowest price. It makes sense if you want the value play and don’t need the extra comfort or convenience features found higher up.
- GT-Line: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds navigation, wireless charging, and available AWD, while also bringing Highway Driving Assist and curve speed reduction with navigation. If you want the most balanced mix of features and winter-friendly flexibility, this is the one to target.
- EX: This is the comfort-and-tech choice, with the 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, surround-view camera system, blind-spot cameras, side parking sensors, reverse automatic braking, and a more upscale feel. It’s the trim to buy if you want the most premium everyday experience.
- GT: This is the performance model, with the turbocharged 2.5-liter engine, sport-tuned suspension, faster steering ratio, and larger brakes. Choose it if you care most about power and driving character rather than maximum comfort or efficiency.
The safety-package upgrades on GT-Line and EX are especially worth considering if you want the most confidence and convenience features.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Kia K5?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,416 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.62% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 88.7% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $23,989, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2025 Kia K5's resale value?
The current average of $27,428 sits slightly below last year's $27,880.
That softer pricing suggests the K5 has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. If you shop near the lower end of the range, you may have a better chance of limiting your loss when it’s time to sell.
The model’s strong value proposition and broad appeal should help keep demand steady, especially for well-equipped trims. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2025 Kia K5 safe?
The 2025 Kia K5 earns a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA.
It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Kia equips every K5 with a long list of driver-assist features, including intersection turn assistance, active blind-spot collision avoidance, and a leading vehicle departure alert when traffic ahead starts moving again. GT-Line adds Highway Driving Assist, and EX or the GT1 Package adds a surround-view camera system, blind-spot cameras, side parking sensors, and reverse automatic braking.
One caveat is that the lane-keeping and lane-centering assist systems can be aggravating when Highway Driving Assist isn’t active, and the controls for turning them off are buried in the menus. That makes the safety tech feel more impressive on paper than it does in everyday use.
Should I buy a 2025 Kia K5 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2025 if:
- 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.62% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The refresh brings updated exterior lighting, revised styling, redesigned wheels, new technology, redesigned dashboard controls, and more standard features.
Consider the 2024 if:
- At $24,840, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $27,428 average.
- It is a stylish, comfortable, enjoyable, and technologically advanced midsize sedan.
The bottom line: If you want the newest styling, updated tech, and the strongest current-market inventory signals, the 2025 is the better target. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2024 is the smarter value play, especially if you can live with the older setup.
