CarGurus Analysis: 2025 Kia K5
overall

Summary
With 2,313 currently listed for sale and an average price of $27,608, 31.6% of 2025 Kia K5s for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2025 Kia K5 5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.33 / 10.
89.8% of 2025 K5 models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2025 Kia K5 stands out as a refreshed midsize sedan that leans heavily on style and value. Kia updated it with new exterior lighting, revised front and rear styling, and redesigned wheels, giving the car a sharper look without changing its basic mission as a family sedan. It remains a good value, and the combination of stylish design and a comfortable ride helps it appeal to buyers who want something more distinctive than a typical commuter car.
The 2025 model also brings new technology, redesigned dashboard controls, and more standard features, which strengthens its appeal for shoppers who care about modern cabin equipment. At the same time, the car’s powertrain lineup is less compelling than before: the only turbocharged version is now the GT sports sedan, while other K5 models use a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with less real-world driving punch than the previously-standard turbo four. That means the K5 is still attractive and well-equipped, but it is not especially fun to drive in most versions, and it still does not offer a hybrid powertrain.

Reviewed a 2025 Kia GT-Line FWD on Apr 26, 2025
I only had the car 2 month but drove it to Florida (all around) and back and put on 3,500 miles. My car is a GT-Line, Wolf Grey with the Red interior, Bose speakers etc. The car is a real pleasure to drive. Very Quiet on the road, and my mileage exceeded the 36 mpg epa rating, and that’s while maintaining speeds of 80 mph with 2 people and fully loaded with luggage. (about 38 mpg) Little if any wind noise. Note that at times I hit much higher speeds not knowing since it was so quiet & smooth. The engine RPM was mostly between 2 to 2.1 at 80mph. The power of the 2.5 liter is good, and slightly better than the 2019 Camry I had, which was a very good car as well. The Bose 12 speaker system sounded great, and all the alert sensors and some other sensors like keeping your car steering between the lines worked very well, but I preferred to turn that off most of the time. If you turn on your turning signals to changing lanes, and a car is present, not only does your side mirrors alert you, but you’ll get sound notices and the steering wheel will vibrate. Triple redundancy. The handling is very good, and secure, brakes are excellent and has a very good feel to them. A very important note is, I appreciate that the 2.5 engine has both Direct & Port Injectors on each cylinder. Port injectors will help cleaned the valves and clear any carbon build up. This is the same arrangement my Camry 2019 had which greatly reduces or eliminates carbon buildup in these Direct Inject Engines. The Nav system worked flawlessly and quickly. I also love you can remotely start your car with the key FOB (No additional charge) or with Kia Connect though Kia connect is only free the 1st 3 years. Also, happily, it doesn’t have the stop & start engine control which can cause more wear on your starter motor with little gain on MPG. The seats are very comfortable as I can attest driving 12 hours straight on my first stop. The car’s 8 spd auto shifted smoothly in all conditions. Plenty of room inside. Lot of storage in the console area for incidentals and drinks. I enjoyed the Panoramic roof. The negative was the Combine toggle Climate & Media control is a bit counter intuitive and sometimes causes more effort to control. Trunk space is good, as I had lots of luggage. The car feels solid & hopefully reliable down the line. The only other negative which is because I do my own oil changes etc, is this car takes a Cartridge oil filter (Not spin on) and takes 6.1 quarts of oil, (Not 5 qts) but I knew this well before I bought it but it’s location and design is good. So it’s not a real big deal, but this will cost a little more for oil changes. Recommended oil chg is 7,500 but I’ll be doing it every 5 to 6K for sure. BTW recommended oil is 0 -30W. Based on my limited time but very heavy usage I highly recommend this car, and I really enjoy driving it. Very sporty looking and lots of featrues.

How much does the 2025 Kia K5 cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $27,608 |
| Year-Round Low | $23,982 |
| Year-Round High | $28,276 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $28,274 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −2.36% |
Prices have softened 2.36% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 2,321 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2025 Kia K5 a good car?
Yes — the 2025 Kia K5 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.33/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.
The K5’s appeal is rooted in its refreshed styling, comfortable ride, and strong value proposition. It also brings new technology and more standard features, which makes it a good fit if you want a midsize sedan that feels more distinctive than a typical commuter car.
The trade-offs are clear: the standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder is less lively than the previous turbo four, and the car is not especially fun to drive in most versions. The touch-sensing climate controls are also frustrating to use.
The model’s 32.1% good-or-great deal rate suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.
Is the 2025 Kia K5 reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The K5’s reliability case is helped by its reputation for solid value, a comfortable ride, and a broad set of standard features. It also offers a well-equipped cabin and useful technology that should make day-to-day ownership feel modern and convenient.
The performance side is more mixed: the standard engine is adequate and reasonably quiet, but it lacks the punch of the earlier turbo setup. Kia Connect can add remote starting, cabin pre-conditioning, and a find-my-car function, which is a nice ownership perk if you use the connected services.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the less engaging powertrain and touch-heavy controls may age less gracefully than the K5’s styling and feature content.
What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Kia K5?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a thorough inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-trim car with more equipment. Focus on the condition of the cabin controls, infotainment setup, and any driver-assistance features, since those are central to the K5’s appeal.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base LXS, sporty-looking GT-Line, upscale EX, and GT each bring a different mix of style and equipment. The EX stands out because it gets the most complete feature set, while the GT is the performance-oriented choice.
- Powertrain: Most versions use a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with an eight-speed automatic, while the GT gets a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder with much stronger output. GT-Line can be had with AWD, but the GT is front-wheel drive only.
- Safety package: Every K5 gets a long list of driver-assist features, including intersection turn assistance, active blind-spot collision avoidance, and a leading vehicle departure alert. GT-Line adds Highway Driving Assist, and EX adds a surround-view camera system, blind-spot cameras, side parking sensors, and automatic reverse braking.
- Infotainment: Every 2025 K5 has a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth pairing, SiriusXM, and Kia Connect. Navigation and wireless charging start with GT-Line, and EX adds a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel.
- Fuel efficiency: The official EPA fuel economy estimate is 29 mpg in combined driving, and the test car averaged 24.9 mpg on a mountainous testing loop.
Which 2025 Kia K5 trim should I buy?
The 2025 Kia K5 is offered in 4 trim levels: LXS, GT-Line, EX, GT.
Here's the short version:
- LXS: This is the entry point if you want the K5’s style and core value without paying for extras. It gives you the basics, but it is the least equipped choice.
- GT-Line: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds AWD availability, navigation, wireless charging, and Highway Driving Assist. It also brings a more complete tech and convenience package without jumping all the way to the top end.
- EX: This is the trim to choose if you want the most upscale K5 experience. It adds the 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and the most advanced camera and parking features, making it the most fully featured everyday version.
- GT: This is the one to buy if you care most about performance. It gets the turbocharged 2.5-liter engine, sport-tuned suspension, faster steering, and larger brakes, but it is not the best fit if you want the smoothest all-around value.
The GT-Line adds a useful Highway Driving Assist system, while the EX or GT1 Package on the GT brings the most advanced safety and parking features.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Kia K5?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.
- Deal availability: 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,321 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.36% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 89.6% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $23,982, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2025 Kia K5's resale value?
The current average of $27,608 sits slightly below last year's $28,274.
That softer pricing trend suggests the K5 is currently more buyer-friendly than it was a year ago. For a future seller, that can mean you may not see rapid appreciation, especially if the market continues to favor shoppers.
Even so, the K5’s strong value story, stylish design, and broad equipment list should help it remain appealing in the used market. Models with desirable trims and clean histories should be easier to move than less-equipped examples.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2025 Kia K5 safe?
The 2025 Kia K5 earns a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA.
It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Kia equips every K5 with a long list of driver-assist features, including intersection turn assistance, active blind-spot collision avoidance, and a leading vehicle departure alert. GT-Line adds Highway Driving Assist with hands-on semi-autonomous acceleration, braking, and steering, while EX adds a surround-view camera system, blind-spot cameras, side parking sensors, and automatic reverse braking.
One caveat is that the lane-keeping and lane-centering systems can be aggravating when Highway Driving Assist is not active, and the controls for turning them off are buried in the menus.
Should I buy a 2025 Kia K5 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2025 if:
- 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.36% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The refresh brings new exterior lighting, revised styling, redesigned wheels, and more standard technology.
Consider the 2024 if:
- At $25,123, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $27,608 average.
- It is a stylish, comfortable, enjoyable, and technologically advanced midsize sedan.
The bottom line: If you want the freshest styling, updated tech, and the strongest current-market deal context, the 2025 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2024 remains a smart alternative with many of the same core strengths.
