CarGurus Analysis: 2025 Kia K5
overall

Summary
With 2,191 currently listed for sale and an average price of $27,750.00, 31.8% of 2025 Kia K5s for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2025 Kia K5 5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.33 / 10.
89.2% of 2025 K5 models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The refreshed 2025 Kia K5 stands out as a stylish midsize sedan that brings updated exterior lighting, revised front and rear styling, and redesigned wheels. Kia also gave it new technology, redesigned dashboard controls, and more standard features, while keeping the car positioned as a good value. For shoppers who want a family sedan with a more distinctive look than the average commuter car, that combination is a major part of its appeal.
The 2025 K5’s strengths are easy to see in its ride quality, technology, and overall comfort. It remains a comfortable choice, and the new tech is a highlight. At the same time, Kia’s changes come with tradeoffs: the only turbocharged version is now the GT sports sedan, other K5 models use a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with less real-world driving punch than the previously-standard turbo four, and the car still does not offer a hybrid powertrain. Touch-sensing climate controls and the fact that it is not much fun to drive in all but GT form are also drawbacks for buyers to consider.

Reviewed a 2025 Kia GT-Line FWD on Apr 26, 2025
I only had the car 2 month but drove it to Florida (all around) and back and put on 3,500 miles. My car is a GT-Line, Wolf Grey with the Red interior, Bose speakers etc. The car is a real pleasure to drive. Very Quiet on the road, and my mileage exceeded the 36 mpg epa rating, and that’s while maintaining speeds of 80 mph with 2 people and fully loaded with luggage. (about 38 mpg) Little if any wind noise. Note that at times I hit much higher speeds not knowing since it was so quiet & smooth. The engine RPM was mostly between 2 to 2.1 at 80mph. The power of the 2.5 liter is good, and slightly better than the 2019 Camry I had, which was a very good car as well. The Bose 12 speaker system sounded great, and all the alert sensors and some other sensors like keeping your car steering between the lines worked very well, but I preferred to turn that off most of the time. If you turn on your turning signals to changing lanes, and a car is present, not only does your side mirrors alert you, but you’ll get sound notices and the steering wheel will vibrate. Triple redundancy. The handling is very good, and secure, brakes are excellent and has a very good feel to them. A very important note is, I appreciate that the 2.5 engine has both Direct & Port Injectors on each cylinder. Port injectors will help cleaned the valves and clear any carbon build up. This is the same arrangement my Camry 2019 had which greatly reduces or eliminates carbon buildup in these Direct Inject Engines. The Nav system worked flawlessly and quickly. I also love you can remotely start your car with the key FOB (No additional charge) or with Kia Connect though Kia connect is only free the 1st 3 years. Also, happily, it doesn’t have the stop & start engine control which can cause more wear on your starter motor with little gain on MPG. The seats are very comfortable as I can attest driving 12 hours straight on my first stop. The car’s 8 spd auto shifted smoothly in all conditions. Plenty of room inside. Lot of storage in the console area for incidentals and drinks. I enjoyed the Panoramic roof. The negative was the Combine toggle Climate & Media control is a bit counter intuitive and sometimes causes more effort to control. Trunk space is good, as I had lots of luggage. The car feels solid & hopefully reliable down the line. The only other negative which is because I do my own oil changes etc, is this car takes a Cartridge oil filter (Not spin on) and takes 6.1 quarts of oil, (Not 5 qts) but I knew this well before I bought it but it’s location and design is good. So it’s not a real big deal, but this will cost a little more for oil changes. Recommended oil chg is 7,500 but I’ll be doing it every 5 to 6K for sure. BTW recommended oil is 0 -30W. Based on my limited time but very heavy usage I highly recommend this car, and I really enjoy driving it. Very sporty looking and lots of featrues.

How much does the 2025 Kia K5 cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $27,741 |
| Year-Round Low | $23,981.72 |
| Year-Round High | $28,344.65 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $28,299 |

Prices have softened 1.97% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
With 2,242 listings available, you have a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
If you find a listing below $23,981.72, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2025 Kia K5 a good car?
Yes — the 2025 Kia K5 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.33/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.
The refreshed K5 brings updated exterior lighting, revised front and rear styling, redesigned wheels, new technology, redesigned dashboard controls, and more standard features. That lines up well with its role as a stylish midsize family sedan that aims to give you more personality than the average commuter car.
The trade-offs are clear: the only turbocharged version is now the GT sports sedan, and the other trims use a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with less real-world punch than the previous turbo four. It also still does not offer a hybrid powertrain, and the car is not much fun to drive in all but GT form.
With 27.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2025 Kia K5 reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The 2025 K5 is positioned as a comfortable, well-equipped family sedan, and Kia’s updates add more standard features without giving up the model’s value focus. The expert review also points to a car that remains quiet, smooth, and composed in everyday driving, which is the kind of behavior that usually matters most over years of ownership.
The performance notes are reassuring in the ways that count for daily use: the 2.5-liter four-cylinder is described as reasonably quiet, the transmission is calibrated to make the most of the available power, and the brakes remained responsive and resisted fade in testing. Kia also includes a long list of driver-assist features, which adds confidence for routine commuting.
If you buy used, the main long-term risk is that the car’s less engaging powertrain and touch-sensitive controls may feel more frustrating as the miles add up.
What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Kia K5?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free listings are not the same thing as guaranteed problem-free cars. A pre-purchase inspection is especially smart if you are considering a higher-mileage example or one with more equipment to verify. Focus on interior condition, control operation, and whether the car’s tech and driver-assist features work as intended.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base LXS, sporty-looking GT-Line, and upscale EX are the more popular versions, while the GT is the fun one. The EX stands out because everything Kia offers for the 2025 K5 comes standard with EX trim, but the glossy interior plastics and sticky SynTex upholstery are worth checking in person.
- Powertrain: Most trims use a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 191 horsepower and 182 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic. The GT uses a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 290 hp and 311 lb-ft, plus an eight-speed wet dual-clutch transmission.
- Safety package: Every K5 gets a long list of driver-assist features, including intersection turn assistance, active blind-spot collision avoidance, and a leading vehicle departure alert. GT-Line adds Highway Driving Assist, and EX or the GT1 Package adds a surround-view camera system, blind-spot cameras, side parking sensors, and automatic braking when reversing.
- Infotainment: Every 2025 K5 has a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with multi-device Bluetooth pairing, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Kia Connect services. Navigation and wireless charging start with GT-Line, and EX adds a 12.3-inch digital instrumentation panel.
- Fuel efficiency: The official EPA fuel economy estimate is 29 mpg in combined driving.
Which 2025 Kia K5 trim should I buy?
The 2025 Kia K5 is offered in 4 trim levels: LXS, GT-Line, EX, GT.
Here's the short version:
- LXS: This is the entry point if you want the K5’s style, standard tech, and value without paying for extras. It makes sense if you care most about keeping the purchase price down and still want the core K5 experience.
- GT-Line: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds navigation, wireless charging, and Highway Driving Assist while keeping the K5’s sporty look. If you want the most balanced mix of features and price, this is the one to start with.
- EX: This is the comfort-and-tech choice. It adds the 12.3-inch digital instrumentation panel and the most advanced parking and camera features, and it is the trim where Kia’s equipment list feels most complete.
- GT: This is the performance pick. It brings the turbocharged 2.5-liter engine, sport-tuned suspension, faster steering, larger brakes, and a dual-clutch transmission, so it is the right choice if you want the quickest and most engaging K5.
The GT-Line’s standard navigation system also enables curve speed reduction with adaptive cruise control, while EX or the GT1 Package adds the most advanced parking-camera and sensor setup.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Kia K5?
The market looks selective rather than overheated, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.
- Deal availability: 27.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,242 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.97% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 89.3% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $23,981.72, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2025 Kia K5's resale value?
The current average of $27,741 sits slightly below last year's $28,299.
That softer pricing suggests the K5 is giving buyers a bit more room today than it did a year ago. For a future seller, that can mean you may need to price competitively if the market stays soft, especially if your car is a higher-volume trim rather than the GT.
At the same time, the K5’s strong value story, updated tech, and broad appeal as a stylish family sedan should help it stay relevant with used shoppers. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2025 Kia K5 safe?
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the K5 earns a five-star overall safety rating.
It earns a 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Kia equips every K5 with a long list of driver-assist features, including intersection turn assistance, active blind-spot collision avoidance, and a leading vehicle departure alert when traffic ahead starts moving again. GT-Line adds Highway Driving Assist with hands-on, semi-autonomous acceleration, braking, and steering, and its standard navigation system allows Kia to add curve speed reduction to adaptive cruise control.
Upgrade to EX trim or the GT1 Package on the GT, and you get a surround-view camera system, blind-spot cameras, side parking sensors, and automatic braking when reversing during parking. One caveat is that lane-keeping and lane-centering assist can be aggravating when Highway Driving Assist is not active.
Should I buy a 2025 Kia K5 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2025 if:
- 27.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.97% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The refresh brings updated exterior lighting, revised styling, redesigned wheels, new technology, redesigned dashboard controls, and more standard features.
Consider the 2024 if:
- At $25,287, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $27,741 average.
- It is stylish, comfortable, and technologically advanced.
The bottom line: If you want the newest styling, updated tech, and the strongest current-market inventory signals, the 2025 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is saving money up front, the 2024 is the smarter value play, especially if you can live with its older setup and find a clean example at the right price.
