CarGurus Analysis: 2025 Kia K5
overall

Summary
With 135 currently listed for sale near Fort Worth, TX and an average price of $26,414, 26.7% of 2025 Kia K5s for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2025 Kia K5 5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.33 / 10.
100.0% of 2025 K5 models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2025 Kia K5 stands out as a refreshed midsize sedan that leans heavily on style and value. Kia updated it with new exterior lighting, revised front and rear styling, and redesigned wheels, giving the car a sharper look without changing its basic mission as a family sedan. It remains a good value, and the combination of stylish design and a comfortable ride helps it appeal to buyers who want something more distinctive than a typical commuter car.
The 2025 model also brings new technology, redesigned dashboard controls, and more standard features, which strengthens its appeal for shoppers who care about modern cabin equipment. At the same time, the car’s powertrain lineup is less compelling than before: the only turbocharged version is now the GT sports sedan, while other K5 models use a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with less real-world driving punch than the previously-standard turbo four. That means the K5 is still attractive and well-equipped, but it is not especially fun to drive in most versions, and it still does not offer a hybrid powertrain.

Reviewed a 2025 Kia GT-Line FWD on Apr 26, 2025
I only had the car 2 month but drove it to Florida (all around) and back and put on 3,500 miles. My car is a GT-Line, Wolf Grey with the Red interior, Bose speakers etc. The car is a real pleasure to drive. Very Quiet on the road, and my mileage exceeded the 36 mpg epa rating, and that’s while maintaining speeds of 80 mph with 2 people and fully loaded with luggage. (about 38 mpg) Little if any wind noise. Note that at times I hit much higher speeds not knowing since it was so quiet & smooth. The engine RPM was mostly between 2 to 2.1 at 80mph. The power of the 2.5 liter is good, and slightly better than the 2019 Camry I had, which was a very good car as well. The Bose 12 speaker system sounded great, and all the alert sensors and some other sensors like keeping your car steering between the lines worked very well, but I preferred to turn that off most of the time. If you turn on your turning signals to changing lanes, and a car is present, not only does your side mirrors alert you, but you’ll get sound notices and the steering wheel will vibrate. Triple redundancy. The handling is very good, and secure, brakes are excellent and has a very good feel to them. A very important note is, I appreciate that the 2.5 engine has both Direct & Port Injectors on each cylinder. Port injectors will help cleaned the valves and clear any carbon build up. This is the same arrangement my Camry 2019 had which greatly reduces or eliminates carbon buildup in these Direct Inject Engines. The Nav system worked flawlessly and quickly. I also love you can remotely start your car with the key FOB (No additional charge) or with Kia Connect though Kia connect is only free the 1st 3 years. Also, happily, it doesn’t have the stop & start engine control which can cause more wear on your starter motor with little gain on MPG. The seats are very comfortable as I can attest driving 12 hours straight on my first stop. The car’s 8 spd auto shifted smoothly in all conditions. Plenty of room inside. Lot of storage in the console area for incidentals and drinks. I enjoyed the Panoramic roof. The negative was the Combine toggle Climate & Media control is a bit counter intuitive and sometimes causes more effort to control. Trunk space is good, as I had lots of luggage. The car feels solid & hopefully reliable down the line. The only other negative which is because I do my own oil changes etc, is this car takes a Cartridge oil filter (Not spin on) and takes 6.1 quarts of oil, (Not 5 qts) but I knew this well before I bought it but it’s location and design is good. So it’s not a real big deal, but this will cost a little more for oil changes. Recommended oil chg is 7,500 but I’ll be doing it every 5 to 6K for sure. BTW recommended oil is 0 -30W. Based on my limited time but very heavy usage I highly recommend this car, and I really enjoy driving it. Very sporty looking and lots of featrues.

How much does the 2025 Kia K5 cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $27,603 |
| Year-Round Low | $23,982 |
| Year-Round High | $28,317 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $28,318 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −2.53% |
Prices have softened 2.53% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 2,324 listings available, which suggests you have a decent amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2025 Kia K5 a good car?
Yes — the 2025 Kia K5 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.33/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.
The K5’s refreshed styling, new exterior lighting, revised front and rear design, and redesigned wheels help it stand out as a family sedan with more personality than a typical commuter car. It also keeps its appeal as a comfortable, good-value midsize sedan with a cabin that gains new technology and more standard features.
The trade-offs are clear: the standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder is less lively than the turbo four it replaces, and the car is not especially fun to drive in most versions. The touch-sensing climate controls also add frustration.
That mix makes the K5 a strong fit if you want style, comfort, and equipment more than driving excitement, and 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
Is the 2025 Kia K5 reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The K5’s appeal here starts with its broad standard equipment and its reputation in this model year as a well-equipped family sedan with a comfortable ride. The expert review also points to a quiet, smooth driving experience in everyday use, along with a powertrain that is adequately refined even if it is not especially exciting.
The performance notes describe the 2.5-liter four-cylinder as reasonably quiet, with the transmission calibrated to make the most of its output. The cost-effectiveness notes also emphasize that you can get a lot of technology and room for a family of four without stepping into a much pricier vehicle class.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the car’s less engaging powertrain and quirky controls may matter more as mileage adds up.
What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Kia K5?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re shopping outside the cleanest listings. Focus on interior condition, control usability, and whether the car’s technology and driver-assist features work as intended.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base LXS, sporty-looking GT-Line, and upscale EX are the most popular versions, while the GT is the fun one. The EX brings the most upscale feel, and the base trim misses some of the richer equipment found higher up.
- Powertrain: Most versions use a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 191 horsepower and 182 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic. The GT uses a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 290 hp and 311 lb-ft, while AWD is optional with GT-Line.
- Safety package: Every K5 gets a long list of driver-assist features, including intersection turn assistance, active blind-spot collision avoidance, and a leading vehicle departure alert. GT-Line adds Highway Driving Assist, and EX adds a surround-view camera system, blind-spot cameras, side parking sensors, and automatic braking when reversing.
- Infotainment: Every K5 has a 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, multi-device Bluetooth pairing, SiriusXM, and Kia Connect services. Navigation and wireless charging start with GT-Line, and EX adds a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel.
- Fuel efficiency: The official EPA fuel economy estimate is 29 mpg in combined driving.
Which 2025 Kia K5 trim should I buy?
The 2025 Kia K5 is offered in 4 trim levels: LXS, GT-Line, EX, GT.
Here's the short version:
- LXS: This is the entry point if you want the K5’s style and value without paying for extras you may not need. It gives you the core sedan experience, but it is the least equipped version.
- GT-Line: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds navigation, wireless charging, and available AWD, while also bringing Highway Driving Assist and curve speed reduction with the standard navigation system.
- EX: This is the most upscale everyday choice. It adds the 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, surround-view camera system, blind-spot cameras, side parking sensors, and reverse automatic braking, making it the trim to target if you want the richest feature set.
- GT: This is the performance-focused choice. It swaps in the turbocharged 2.5-liter engine, sport-tuned suspension, faster steering, larger brakes, and a wet dual-clutch transmission, so it suits you if driving punch matters most.
The safety package is especially strong, and the EX or GT1 Package on the GT adds the most advanced camera and parking features.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Kia K5?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market.
- Deal availability: 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,324 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.53% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 89.8% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $23,982, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2025 Kia K5's resale value?
The current average of $27,603 sits slightly below last year's $28,318.
That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim choice rather than on broad market appreciation.
The K5’s strong equipment list and stylish design should help it stay appealing to used shoppers. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2025 Kia K5 safe?
The 2025 Kia K5 earns a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA.
It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Kia equips every K5 with a long list of driver-assist features, including intersection turn assistance, active blind-spot collision avoidance, and a leading vehicle departure alert. GT-Line adds Highway Driving Assist, which provides hands-on semi-autonomous acceleration, braking, and steering, while EX adds a surround-view camera system, blind-spot cameras, side parking sensors, and automatic braking when reversing.
One caveat is that the lane-keeping and lane-centering systems can be frustrating to use without Highway Driving Assist, and turning them off is not as simple as it should be.
Should I buy a 2025 Kia K5 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2025 if:
- 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.53% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The refreshed styling, new technology, and more standard features make this year especially appealing.
Consider the 2024 if:
- At $25,162, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $27,603 average.
- It offers turbocharging as standard.
The bottom line: Choose the 2025 if you want the refreshed design, upgraded tech, and broader standard equipment. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2024 is the smarter value play, especially if you want a lower purchase price and can live without the newer updates.
