Is the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV a good car?

The 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV earns an 6.5/10 expert rating and is built around affordability, comfort, and range.

The model scores 8/10 across Cost effectiveness and Safety.

It fits you best if you want an electric SUV that keeps the focus on value and everyday usability rather than outright performance. The trade-offs are clear: it does not deliver the performance or pizzazz of some rivals, and Apple CarPlay is not offered. Even so, the comfortable ride, roomy cabin, and generous range make it a practical choice for shoppers who want EV ownership without paying a premium.

41.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV reliable?

The 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV is presented as a straightforward, value-focused EV with a comfortable ride and a quiet cabin, and its expert evaluation describes the standard features as dependable and unintrusive.

Its range and charging setup support everyday use, with the front-drive version estimated at up to 319 miles and DC fast charging rated at up to 150 kW. The standard equipment also includes one-pedal driving and multiple regeneration settings, which can help you tailor how the vehicle behaves in daily driving.

The cost-effectiveness coverage also notes that the Equinox EV benefits from a desirable federal EV tax credit, which can improve ownership value if you qualify.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the battery and charging system still perform as expected, since EV ownership depends heavily on battery health and charging habits.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on an EV where battery condition and charging behavior matter. Focus on overall condition, charging equipment, and whether the car has been used mostly for home charging or frequent DC fast charging.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The entry-level LT is the economical choice, and it does not feel stripped out. The RS adds larger wheels, blacked-out styling elements, red interior accents, and a few added convenience and safety packages.
• Powertrain: The standard setup uses a single 220-horsepower electric motor with front-wheel drive. An available dual-motor AWD setup adds rear-wheel drive capability and increases output to 300 hp.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, a blind-spot monitor with steering intervention, automatic high beams, and GM's safety alert seat. Optional packages add a surround-view camera, rear pedestrian alerts, semi-automated parking, and Super Cruise.
• Infotainment: The system uses a 17.7-inch touchscreen with Google Built-in and wireless charging availability. Apple CarPlay is not offered.
• Range & charging: The front-drive version is estimated at up to 319 miles of range, while AWD drops that estimate to 307 miles. The battery pack is 85 kWh, and DC fast charging can add about 70 miles in roughly 10 minutes.
• Battery health: Ask for battery state-of-health information if available, and look for smooth charging behavior at home and on DC fast chargers. You also want to understand how much of the battery warranty remains, since that can matter more than mileage alone on a used EV.

Which 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV trim should I buy?

The 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV is offered in 2 trim levels: LT and RS.

Here's the short version:

• LT: This is the best-value choice if you want the most affordable way into the Equinox EV without giving up the core strengths of range, comfort, and everyday usability. It is the economical pick, and the content does not suggest you need to spend more unless you want the RS’s extra styling and equipment.
• RS: Choose this if you want the sportier look and the added convenience and safety packages that come with the more upscale version. It adds larger wheels, blacked-out styling elements, and red interior accents, but it does not appear to deliver a major value advantage over the LT.

All Equinox models come with the standard safety features listed above, while the optional Active Safety Package 2 and Active Safety Package 3 add more advanced driver-assistance tech.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV?

This looks like a buyer-friendly market if you are shopping carefully and comparing listings.

• Deal availability: 41.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,935 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.37% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 92.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $25,224, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV's resale value?

The current average of $26,734 sits slightly below last year's $28,251.

That price movement suggests the Equinox EV has become more attractive to used buyers, which can make it easier to shop now than it was a year ago. For a future seller, though, the softer market means you may not recover as much as you would have when prices were higher.

The good news is that the model still has strong value appeal thanks to its range, comfort, and affordability. If demand stays steady, those traits should help support resale better than a less practical EV would.

Is the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV safe?

The 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV earns five-star ratings in its overall rating, frontal crash, side crash, and rollover protection from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

All models come standard with frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, a blind-spot monitor with steering intervention, automatic high beams, and GM's safety alert seat. Optional Active Safety Package 2 adds a surround-view camera system with rear pedestrian alerts, while Active Safety Package 3 adds a semi-automated parking system and Super Cruise hands-free highway driving.

IIHS results are not yet available, so the strongest safety signal here comes from the NHTSA ratings and the standard driver-assistance equipment.

Should I buy a 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 41.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.37% compared with last year.
• It stands out for affordability, comfort, and more than 300 miles of range.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $24,744, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $26,734 average.
• It offers a comfortable, value-focused entry into the Equinox EV lineup.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of current-market value, range, and safety, the 2025 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2024 is the smarter budget alternative.
