How much does the 2025 BMW i4 cost?

Prices have softened 16.48% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 752 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing prices and equipment.

Is the 2025 BMW i4 a good car?

Yes — the 2025 BMW i4 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

The i4 stands out as an upscale electric car with a distinctive four-door sportback body and a rear hatch that adds surprising utility. It is especially appealing if you want an EV that feels more premium and more engaging than purely practical, and the 2025 model year adds subtle design updates inside and out, a new infotainment system, and Plug & Charge convenience.

The main trade-offs are its polarizing design and its cramped back seat, and entry and exit can be difficult. Even so, it provides room for four adults and has a cargo area that is a real strength for this class.

The market also looks reasonably supportive, with 35.2% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2025 BMW i4 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The i4 is described as having top-notch reliability, and BMW’s engineering approach helps turn the 4 Series Gran Coupe platform into a legitimately competitive EV. The 2025 model year also adds Plug & Charge convenience, which makes public charging easier to manage.

Its electric powertrain and premium hardware should reward careful ownership, but used buyers should still pay close attention to battery condition, charging habits, and overall maintenance history so you can avoid surprises later.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 BMW i4?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re comparing cars with different wheel, package, or charging setups. Focus on cabin wear, charging behavior, and whether the car’s equipment matches the way you plan to use it.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The i4 adapts the architecture of the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe to incorporate the battery pack, electric motors, charging system, and other hardware and software necessary for a modern EV. The 2025 model year brings minor design changes, including new lighting, grille detailing, wheel designs, color choices, a new steering wheel, revised air vents, and updated upholstery and trim selections. The test car’s M Sport Package added more appealing 19-inch wheels, an Adaptive M Suspension, and variable sport steering.
• Powertrain: BMW offers the 2025 i4 in three model series: single motor, rear-wheel drive (RWD) eDrive40, dual-motor, all-wheel drive (AWD) xDrive40, and M50 (performance-tuned dual-motor AWD). The single-motor eDrive40 is the least powerful version, but it is also the most efficient and provides the longest driving range.
• Safety package: Every i4 gets Active Driving Assistant, which includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, active blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, and rear cross-traffic alert. Automatic high-beam headlights, a driver monitoring system, and BMW Assist eCall are standard as well. A Driving Assistance Package adds adaptive cruise control, while the Driving Assistance Professional Package adds Active Driving Assistant Pro and Extended Traffic Jam Assistant.
• Infotainment: The BMW Curved Display combines a 12.3-inch driver display with a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. For 2025, BMW upgraded the system to iDrive 8.5 with Quick Select, and it adds wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Augmented View navigation, and Plug & Charge authentication.
• Range & charging: With the M Sport Package’s larger 19-inch wheels, the eDrive40 provides 295 miles of range while consuming electricity at the rate of 32 kWh per 100 miles, according to the EPA. With standard 18-inch wheels, those values are 318 miles of range and 30 kWh/100 miles. In testing, a DC fast charger took 30 minutes to reach an 80% charge.
• Battery health: For a used EV, you should check battery state-of-health, ask how often the car has been charged at home versus on DC fast chargers, and confirm how much of the battery warranty remains. A battery that has been treated gently and charged mostly at home is usually the safer bet for long-term ownership.

Which 2025 BMW i4 trim should I buy?

The 2025 BMW i4 is offered in 3 trim levels: eDrive40, xDrive40, and M50.

Here's the short version:

• eDrive40: This is the best-value choice if you want the i4’s strongest mix of efficiency, range, and traditional rear-wheel-drive feel. It is the least powerful version, but it is also the most efficient and the longest-range model, and BMW says it can reach 60 mph in 5.5 seconds.
• xDrive40: Choose this if you want dual-motor all-wheel drive and the added traction that comes with it. It gives up some of the eDrive40’s efficiency and range, but it adds the security of AWD.
• M50: This is the performance-tuned dual-motor AWD version, so it is the right pick if you want the most aggressive character in the lineup.

BMW’s standard Active Driving Assistant is included on every i4, while the more advanced lane-centering and hands-free highway features require the Driving Assistance Professional Package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 BMW i4?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without waiting forever for a better deal.

• Deal availability: 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 752 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.48% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 93.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $46,954, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 BMW i4's resale value?

The current average of $46,971 sits slightly below last year's $56,239.

That drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, the key question is whether the i4’s premium positioning, strong technology, and distinctive body style continue to support demand as the car ages.

Because the model has a strong mix of utility, technology, and driving appeal, it should remain attractive to shoppers who want a premium EV with a sportback shape. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 BMW i4 safe?

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

BMW equips every i4 with Active Driving Assistant. This collection of driver assistance includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, active blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, and rear cross-traffic alert. Automatic high-beam headlights, a driver monitoring system, and BMW Assist eCall, which includes automatic collision notification and an SOS emergency calling system, are standard as well.

A Driving Assistance Package adds adaptive cruise control, while the Driving Assistance Professional Package adds Active Driving Assistant Pro and Extended Traffic Jam Assistant. Active Driving Assistant Pro encompasses lane-centering assist, lane-change assist, evasive steering assist, and emergency stop assist. The Extended Traffic Jam Assistant is a hands-free driving feature for use on limited-access highways at speeds under 40 mph.

Crash-test ratings for the i4 from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) weren’t available at the time of publication.

Should I buy a 2025 BMW i4 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.48% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2025 model year brings subtle design updates inside and out, a new infotainment system, and Plug & Charge convenience.

The bottom line: If you want the most up-to-date i4 with the latest tech and a softer used-car price than last year, the 2025 is the right path. If your priority is simply spending less, a lower-priced example from another year may be worth considering, but you’ll want to compare equipment carefully because the 2025’s updates improve the overall experience.
