How much does the 2025 BMW X5 cost?

Prices have softened 15.14% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 5,352 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for you to compare trims and prices.

Is the 2025 BMW X5 a good car?

The 2025 BMW X5 earns an 8.3/10 expert rating.

The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, Technology, and Safety.

It stands out as BMW’s midsize luxury SUV, positioned between the X3 and X7, and it offers multiple powertrain options, strong handling, and a comfortable driving experience. The trade-offs are that it is not the strongest value compared with rivals, and advanced safety features are not standard.

With 33.5% of listings priced as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.

Is the 2025 BMW X5 reliable?

The 2025 BMW X5 is presented as an established model rather than a newly reinvented one, and that maturity can be reassuring if you want a well-sorted used luxury SUV. Its lineup spans multiple powertrains, and the overall package is described as well-rounded, with strong driving dynamics, interior space, and tech.

The performance content also points to a broad, proven mechanical range, from the turbocharged inline-six to the V8 and plug-in hybrid setups. BMW’s four-year/50,000-mile new-vehicle warranty is comparable to most rivals, which helps frame the ownership picture.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that higher-spec versions can become expensive to maintain and repair once warranty coverage ends.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 BMW X5?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage or option-heavy example. Focus on overall condition, service records, and whether the equipment on the listing matches the trim and package mix you want.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Base models come standard with 20-inch wheels and run-flat all-season tires, while M Sport versions add sportier bumpers and darkened exterior trim. The limited-production Silver Anniversary Edition adds Shadowline trim, a special wheel design, and an off-road package.
• Powertrain: You can choose from a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six, a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8, or a plug-in hybrid setup with a larger electric motor and battery pack. The lineup spans efficiency, everyday smoothness, and high-performance acceleration.
• Safety package: The standard Active Driving Assistant includes lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, and forward collision warning, but not adaptive cruise control. That requires the Driving Assistance Professional Package, which adds Highway Assistant.
• Infotainment: The curved display combines a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch infotainment touchscreen. It includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus BMW Operating System 8.
• Fuel efficiency: Six-cylinder models are rated at 25 mpg combined, with 23 mpg city and 27 mpg highway. The plug-in hybrid can travel up to 39 miles on electric power alone.

Which 2025 BMW X5 trim should I buy?

The 2025 BMW X5 is offered in 5 trim levels: sDrive40i, xDrive40i, xDrive50e, M60i xDrive, X5 M Competition.

Here's the short version:

• sDrive40i: This is the entry point if you want the least expensive way into the X5 lineup, and it still gives you the core inline-six powertrain and the standard tech and safety setup.
• xDrive40i: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it adds all-wheel drive while keeping the same balanced six-cylinder formula and broad everyday appeal.
• xDrive50e: Choose this if you want the plug-in hybrid setup and the strongest efficiency story in the lineup, along with standard air suspension.
• M60i xDrive: This is the pick for you if you want V8 power and quicker acceleration, plus the more performance-focused hardware that comes with it.
• X5 M Competition: This is the top performance choice if outright speed matters most, but it is the least practical path for value-minded buyers.

The standard Active Driving Assistant does not include adaptive cruise control; that requires the Driving Assistance Professional Package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 BMW X5?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you have room to shop carefully without waiting forever for the perfect listing.

• Deal availability: 33.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 5,352 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.14% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 94.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $57,180, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 BMW X5's resale value?

The current average of $57,180 sits slightly below last year's $67,382.

That price drop suggests the used market has become more favorable for buyers, but it also means sellers may need to price competitively to move inventory. If you plan to resell later, the X5’s broad appeal and strong reputation should help, but higher-spec versions may face more depreciation pressure because they start expensive and can climb quickly with options.

For you, that means the best resale story is likely to come from a well-kept, sensibly equipped trim rather than a heavily optioned example.

Is the 2025 BMW X5 safe?

The 2025 BMW X5 earns a Top Safety Pick+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and a four-star overall safety rating from NHTSA, with four-star ratings in frontal and rollover crash tests, and five-star ratings in side crash tests.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard Active Driving Assistant includes lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, and forward collision warning. Adaptive cruise control is not standard, and you need the Driving Assistance Professional Package to get Highway Assistant, the hands-free system that also handles steering at speeds up to 85 mph.

Should I buy a 2025 BMW X5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 33.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.14% compared with last year.
• It adds a limited-edition 25th-anniversary model and keeps the updated 2024-era tech and driving character.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $50,740, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $57,180 average.
• It delivers a delight-to-drive plug-in hybrid with about 40 miles of electric-only range.

Consider the 2026 if:

• At $70,752, the 2026 costs more than the current year's $57,180 average.
• It broadens the lineup with five versions and more ways to tailor the SUV.

The bottom line: If you want the newest used X5 pricing and a well-established package, the 2025 is the right target. If your priority is lower purchase cost, the 2024 is the smarter value play. If you want more configuration breadth and are willing to pay more, the 2026 is the upgrade path.
