How much does the 2025 BMW X3 cost?

Prices have softened 14.18% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 5,584 listings available, which suggests you should have a healthy set of options to compare.

Is the 2025 BMW X3 a good car?

Generally — the 2025 BMW X3 earns a 4/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

The redesigned X3 is positioned as a driver-focused compact luxury SUV with unusual design, a minimalist cabin, and strong technology. It also stands out for its comfort, driving dynamics, and value proposition, especially if you want something that feels distinctive rather than traditionally plush.

The main trade-offs are a firm ride on the tested setup, unintuitive technology, and interior materials that can feel cheap. Those drawbacks matter most if you expect a softer, more conventional luxury experience.

Good and great deals account for 35.9% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 BMW X3 reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The X3’s overall package points to a well-rounded ownership experience, with a strong emphasis on comfort, technology, and driving dynamics. Its powertrain is described as having a broad power band, and the mild-hybrid system helps improve off-the-line responsiveness while making start-stop operation nearly imperceptible.

BMW also includes complimentary maintenance for the length of a typical lease, which can help reduce early ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the vehicle’s more complex technology and premium hardware may be more expensive to sort out if something goes wrong.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 BMW X3?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 96.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-spec example with larger wheels or more option packages. Focus on the condition of the infotainment system, ride quality, and interior trim, since those are the areas most likely to shape your day-to-day satisfaction.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The X3 is offered in 30 xDrive and M50 xDrive model series, and the 30 xDrive is the value play if you want the strongest balance of price, comfort, and capability. The M50 xDrive adds a much more powerful engine and a more performance-oriented character, but the tested X3 30 xDrive already delivers a rewarding driving experience. Base-trim shoppers should also note that BMW’s cabin can feel austere, with some lower interior materials that don’t match the sticker price.
• Powertrain: The 30 xDrive uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, plus an eight-speed automatic and standard xDrive AWD. It also has a 48-volt mild-hybrid system with an electric motor integrated with the transmission and a crankshaft-mounted starter-generator, which helps responsiveness and smooths start-stop operation. The M50 xDrive upgrades to a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six with 393 hp and 428 lb-ft.
• Safety package: The standard Active Driving Assistant suite includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, active blind-spot monitoring, and front, side, and rear parking sensors. The Premium Package adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go and Steering Assistant, while Parking Assistant Plus and Driving Assistant Professional add more advanced camera, parking, and hands-free traffic-jam features.
• Infotainment: The X3 uses BMW Curved Display hardware with Operating System 9, also known as iDrive 9. The system supports wireless Apple CarPlay, and the navigation setup can provide augmented video through BMW Live Cockpit Professional. The test vehicle’s native interface was frustrating, so you should verify that the screen, profiles, and connected features work properly before you buy.
• Fuel efficiency: The 30 xDrive is rated at 29 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2025 BMW X3 trim should I buy?

The 2025 BMW X3 is offered in 2 trim levels: 30 xDrive and M50 xDrive.

Here's the short version:

• 30 xDrive: This is the best-value choice if you want the core X3 experience without paying for the extra speed of the M50. It still gives you the turbocharged four-cylinder, standard AWD, mild-hybrid assistance, and the same stylish, driver-focused character that defines the redesigned X3. If you want the smartest balance of price and everyday usability, this is the one to target.
• M50 xDrive: Choose this if you want the quickest and most powerful X3, with the turbocharged inline-six and a much more urgent performance character. It makes sense if you care most about acceleration and stronger passing power, but it is the pricier route.

The standard Active Driving Assistant suite is the key safety baseline, while the more advanced driver-assistance features are tied to higher packages.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 BMW X3?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough pricing softness to create opportunities.

• Deal availability: 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 5,584 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.18% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 96.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $45,326, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 BMW X3's resale value?

The current average of $45,326 sits slightly below last year's $52,814.

That price drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, the current softness means resale upside may depend more on condition, mileage, and equipment than on broad market momentum.

Well-kept examples with desirable equipment should still attract attention because the X3 has a strong value story and broad appeal in the compact luxury SUV segment. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 BMW X3 safe?

The 2025 BMW X3 earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star ratings for the driver and front passenger in the frontal-impact crash test.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard Active Driving Assistant suite includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, active blind-spot monitoring, and front, side, and rear parking sensors. Higher packages add adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, Steering Assistant, surround-view cameras, semi-automated parking, and hands-free Traffic Jam Assistant.

One caution is that Steering Assistant can be frustrating when used without adaptive cruise control, so you should treat the more advanced lane-centering features as situational tools rather than everyday essentials.

Should I buy a 2025 BMW X3 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 96.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.18% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The redesigned cabin, strong value story, and driver-focused character make this year especially appealing.

Consider the 2026 if:

• At $51,997, the 2026 costs more than the current year's $45,326 average.
• The base model looks and feels a little more upscale inside.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2025 is the smarter buy because it already delivers the redesigned X3 experience at a lower average price. If you’re price-sensitive, the 2025 also gives you more room to shop for a clean, well-equipped example without stretching into the next year’s higher average.
