Used 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 for Sale near Virginia

How much does the 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 cost?

Prices have softened 6.54% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,777 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

The data points to a more competitive and enjoyable electric SUV than before, with a more powerful rear-drive motor, improved range, and a next-generation infotainment system. It also comes across as a strong value for money, especially if you want a comfortable EV with standard advanced safety features and a more polished overall feel.

The trade-offs are the unimpressive electric range on the base model and the touch-sensing controls, plus the seat-sensor vehicle on/off behavior that can add annoyance in daily use.

Only 42.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market is reasonably favorable but still rewards careful shopping.

Is the 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 is presented as a well-sorted EV with improved performance, better technology, and a more competitive driving range than before. The expert notes also point to reasonable charging times and a package that feels more refined overall, which supports confidence for everyday use.

You also get two years or 20,000 miles of free scheduled maintenance, along with complimentary charging and connected-service trial subscriptions, which helps reduce early ownership friction.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the battery and charging system are healthy, since EV ownership depends heavily on how the previous owner charged and maintained the car.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Volkswagen ID.4?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on an EV where battery condition, charging behavior, and software operation matter. Focus on how the car was charged, whether the infotainment and driver-assistance systems work properly, and whether the cabin controls feel consistent and intuitive in daily use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes base, S, and S Plus trims, and the base model misses some of the richer equipment and polish found higher up.
• Powertrain: The Pro models use a single rear motor with 282 horsepower and 402 pound-feet of torque, while AWD Pro models add a front motor for 335 horsepower and quicker acceleration.
• Safety package: IQ.Drive is standard, with Travel Assist, Emergency Assist, and post-collision braking included; parking assist with Memory Parking is also available.
• Infotainment: Pro models get a 12.9-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, an improved interface, and battery preconditioning for route-based charging.
• Range & charging: EPA range reaches 291 miles on RWD Pro models and 263 miles on AWD Pro models, while the 62-kWh models are rated at 206 miles. DC fast charging can take the battery from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes.
• Battery health: Check battery state-of-health, confirm the car has been charged normally at home and not over-relied on for repeated DC fast charging, and verify how much battery warranty coverage remains.

Which 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 trim should I buy?

The 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 is offered in 3 trim levels: base, S, and S Plus.

Here's the short version:

• base: This is the entry point if you want the lowest price, but it is also the trim most likely to leave you wanting more range and equipment.
• S: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it adds a more complete feature set without pushing you all the way to the top of the range.
• S Plus: Choose this if you want the most upscale version, including the available Harman Kardon premium sound system and the most premium-feeling setup.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, so you do not need to move up a trim just to get the core driver-assistance coverage.

It looks like a buyer’s market if you’re shopping carefully.

• Deal availability: 42.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,777 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.54% compared with last year.

What is the 2024 Volkswagen ID.4's resale value?

The current average of $23,022 sits slightly below last year's $24,634.

That price movement suggests the model has softened enough to create a better buying opportunity now, but it also means future sellers may face some pressure if the market stays soft. If you buy at a favorable price today and keep the car in strong condition, you should be better positioned to limit depreciation pain later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 safe?

The 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 earns favorable ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and IIHS evaluations are incomplete, though the rated assessments are strong.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Volkswagen’s IQ.Drive suite is standard, and it includes Travel Assist and Emergency Assist, along with post-collision braking. Travel Assist helps manage following distance and lane centering, while Emergency Assist can bring the vehicle to a controlled stop if the driver becomes unresponsive. Parking assist with Memory Parking is also available.

One caveat is that IIHS testing is incomplete, so the safety picture is not fully finished yet.

Should I buy a 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 42.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.54% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2024 brings a more powerful rear-drive motor, improved range, and a better infotainment system.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $22,356, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $23,022 average.
• It emphasizes affordability and a broader push toward mainstream EV usability.

The bottom line: If you want the better-rounded ID.4, the 2024 is the smarter pick because it adds power, range, and technology improvements that make daily use easier. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2023 remains the value-oriented alternative.
