How much does the 2024 Toyota Prius cost?

Prices are up 1.66% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 1,457 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2024 Toyota Prius a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Toyota Prius earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

The Prius is positioned as an everyday car that blends style, practicality, and affordability, with seating for up to five and up to 23.8 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seat. It also brings strong efficiency, with up to 57 mpg in combined driving, and it starts at less than $30,000.

The trade-offs are clear: the back seat is cramped and the instrumentation is poor. Even so, the Prius still makes sense if you want a daily driver that keeps fuel costs and purchase price in check.

42.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2024 Toyota Prius reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Prius is described as affordable, practical, and exceptionally fuel efficient, with a reputation for strong value. Its hybrid system is built around a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, an electric motor, and a lithium-ion battery pack, and the AWD version adds a second rear electric motor.

Toyota also includes a maintenance perk in the ownership experience through connected-service trial coverage, which can help reduce early ownership friction. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the car’s tight rear seat, limited cargo room, and visibility compromises may matter more as daily needs grow.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Toyota Prius?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re shopping outside the cleanest listings. Focus on interior condition, visibility-related wear, and whether the car’s tech and driver-assistance features work as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LE, XLE, and Limited trims differ most in wheel design, touchscreen size, and cabin presentation. The base trim uses 17-inch wheels with black covers, while the XLE and Limited get more attractive 19-inch aluminum wheels.
• Powertrain: The standard hybrid setup uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor and lithium-ion battery pack. AWD adds a second rear electric motor, and the plug-in hybrid is a separate model.
• Safety package: Every Prius has Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 plus blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. The suite includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and road sign recognition.
• Infotainment: The Prius uses an 8-inch touchscreen in LE and XLE trims and a 12.3-inch screen in Limited. It includes wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, Bluetooth, and connected services.
• Fuel efficiency: The LE gets up to 57 mpg in combined driving, while XLE and Limited return 52 mpg. AWD versions are rated at 54 mpg for LE and 49 mpg for XLE and Limited.

Which 2024 Toyota Prius trim should I buy?

The 2024 Toyota Prius is offered in 3 trim levels: LE, XLE, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the best-value trim if you want the highest fuel economy and the lowest entry price. It keeps the Prius’s core strengths intact while delivering the best combined mpg rating.
• XLE: This is the sweet spot for many shoppers because it adds a more upscale look with 19-inch wheels and still keeps the Prius’s efficiency and tech appeal intact.
• Limited: This is the trim to choose if you want the most equipment, including the larger 12.3-inch touchscreen, JBL audio, and available parking tech.

Every trim gets Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 plus blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Toyota Prius?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 42.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,457 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.66% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 85.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $26,649, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Toyota Prius's resale value?

The current average of $29,001 sits slightly above last year's $28,528.

That upward move suggests the Prius is holding value well in the used market. Strong efficiency, broad appeal, and a reputation for practicality help keep buyer interest steady.

For a future seller, that means you may benefit from relatively resilient demand if you keep the car clean and well documented. The model’s strong market position also helps offset some depreciation pressure.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Toyota Prius safe?

The 2024 Prius earns five-star ratings in every NHTSA assessment except rollover resistance, for which it gets a four-star rating, and the IIHS calls it a Top Safety Pick+.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Every Prius has Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 plus blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. The standard suite includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and road sign recognition.

Toyota also includes Proactive Driving Assist, which adds subtle steering and braking support when active. One caveat is that the system does not include hands-free Traffic Jam Assist, and the lane-centering assist still expects you to keep input on the wheel.

Should I buy a 2024 Toyota Prius or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 42.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.66% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines standout design, strong efficiency, and practical daily-driver appeal.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $27,473, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $29,001 average.
• It introduced the Prius’s sharper styling and stronger power.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $28,088, the 2025 costs less than the current year's $29,001 average.
• It adds a Nightshade trim with a blacked-out look.

The bottom line: The 2024 is the best all-around pick if you want the strongest mix of value, safety, and efficiency. If you’re price-sensitive, the 2023 is the cheaper route into the same generation, while the 2025 makes sense if you want the newer trim choice and can live with its trade-offs.
