CarGurus Analysis: 2024 Tesla Model X
Summary
With 450 currently listed for sale and an average price of $70,907, 26.7% of 2024 Tesla Model Xs for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2024 Tesla Model X 5 / 5 stars.
88.0% of 2024 Model X models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2024 Tesla Model X stands out as a large, all-electric family SUV with a distinctive shape and a cabin that can seat up to seven passengers. It is based on the same platform as the Tesla Model S and shares about 30% of its content with that sedan, but its defining feature is the double-hinged Falcon Wing rear doors that open upward instead of outward. Buyers also get the flexibility of two- and three-row layouts, along with the kind of premium features that helped make the Model X one of the most advanced cars of its era.
For 2024, the Model X had already gone through a major 2021 overhaul, and by this point it offered a more modern interior with a landscape-format center screen, a yoke steering wheel, and a rear-seat entertainment screen. Standard equipment included all-wheel drive, heated front and rear seats, a heated steering wheel, a premium 17-speaker audio system, navigation, Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth phone pairing, and automatic front doors. It also lacked Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which remains a notable omission for shoppers who want broad smartphone integration.
The 2024 Model X also appeals with strong performance and range. The Long Range version made 670 hp and was rated at 360 miles of official range, while the Plaid version delivered 1,020 hp and 340 miles of official range. At the same time, the Model X still has some drawbacks to consider: the third row is cramped, and the Falcon Wing doors can be tricky in tight spaces.

Great vehicle. It’s so much improved from the 2019 Version. The best technology - which takes a bit to get used to. There are no physical turns signals or levers. It’s a steering wheel with buttons and a large screen that controls all functions in the vehicle. The ride is very smooth and it goes without saying…it’s fast.

How much does the 2024 Tesla Model X cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $70,910 |
| Year-Round Low | $67,741.10 |
| Year-Round High | $75,063.51 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $67,741 |
| Change vs. Last Year | +4.68% |
Prices are up 4.68% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.
There are 465 listings available, which gives you a meaningful pool to compare before you commit.
If you find a listing below $67,741.10, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2024 Tesla Model X a good car?
Yes — the 2024 Tesla Model X earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner approval. It stands out as a large, family-focused electric SUV with two- and three-row seating for up to seven passengers, so it fits buyers who want utility without giving up a distinctive design. It also combines a long list of standard equipment with Tesla’s emphasis on software and advanced tech, while its unusual Falcon Wing rear doors help set it apart from more conventional three-row SUVs. 26.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there is still some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2024 Tesla Model X reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The 2024 Model X is described as a large, family-focused electric SUV with a premium cabin, standard all-wheel drive, and a broad set of comfort and tech features, which supports its appeal for everyday use. Its main drawbacks are also clear: the third row is cramped, and the Falcon Wing doors can be tricky in tight spaces. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is less about basic appeal and more about making sure the vehicle’s condition and door operation are solid.
What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Tesla Model X?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 88% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the history report carefully, even when a listing looks clean, because prior damage can affect fit, finish, and long-term value. Put inspection priority on the Falcon Wing doors, interior condition, and any signs that the cabin electronics or convenience features are not working as expected. Since this model leans heavily on tech and premium equipment, you want to focus on overall condition and how well the vehicle’s features operate in real-world use.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Tesla Model X?
This is a seller’s market, so you should act selectively and be ready to move when a strong listing appears.
- Deal availability: 26.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 465 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices are up 4.68% year-over-year.
- Clean inventory: 88.0% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $67,741.10, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2024 Tesla Model X's resale value?
The current average of $70,910 sits slightly above last year's $67,741. That upward move suggests the market is still willing to pay for this model year, which can help support resale value if you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition. For a future seller, that means a clean history and well-documented ownership should matter, especially in a market where buyers are still responding to the Model X’s distinctive mix of space, tech, and performance. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2024 Tesla Model X or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 26.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 88% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices are up 4.68% year-over-year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2024 if you want the current-year mix of strong owner satisfaction, solid inventory, and a market that still supports the model’s value. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2024 remains the cleaner choice when you want the latest version of this distinctive electric SUV and are willing to pay for it.
