CarGurus Analysis: 2024 Tesla Model X
Summary
With 482 currently listed for sale and an average price of $72,191.00, 26.1% of 2024 Tesla Model Xs for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2024 Tesla Model X 5 / 5 stars.
87.6% of 2024 Model X models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2024 Tesla Model X stands out as a large, family-focused electric SUV that still feels unusual even after years on the market. It is based on the same platform as the Tesla Model S and shares about 30% of its content with the full-size sedan, but its midsize crossover body, two- and three-row seating options, and ability to carry up to seven passengers give it a more practical mission. Its signature Falcon Wing rear doors remain the feature most people notice first, and they help define the Model X’s identity as something more distinctive than a conventional three-row SUV.
For 2024, the Model X combines a long list of standard equipment with Tesla’s usual emphasis on software and advanced tech. Standard features include all-wheel drive, front and rear heated seats, a heated steering wheel, heated washer nozzles, LED fog lights, 20-inch alloy wheels, adaptive suspension, a location-aware garage door opener, automatic front doors, vegan leatherette seating surfaces, 12-way power adjustable front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a power liftgate, a premium 17-speaker audio system, navigation, Wi-Fi connectivity, and Bluetooth phone pairing. It also lacks Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which remains a notable omission for buyers who want broad smartphone integration. Available features include 22-inch alloy wheels and the Full Self-Driving Capability package with features such as Smart Summon and Autopark.
The 2024 Model X also benefits from the broader updates Tesla made to the model in recent years. By 2024, a circular steering wheel became standard, while the steering yoke became an option. That means shoppers can choose between a more traditional setup and Tesla’s more unconventional alternative. For buyers, the appeal is straightforward: the Model X offers strong range, fast acceleration, advanced tech, and a spacious, premium-feeling cabin in a package that still looks and operates differently from most electric SUVs. Its main drawbacks are also clear, especially the cramped third row and the Falcon Wing doors, which can be tricky in tight spaces.

Great vehicle. It’s so much improved from the 2019 Version. The best technology - which takes a bit to get used to. There are no physical turns signals or levers. It’s a steering wheel with buttons and a large screen that controls all functions in the vehicle. The ride is very smooth and it goes without saying…it’s fast.

| Year-Round High | $75,094.32 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $65,276 |
| Change vs. Last Year | +9.87% |
Prices are up 9.87% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.
There are 469 listings available, which gives you a useful sense of inventory availability. If you find a listing below $65,248.63, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2024 Tesla Model X a good car?
Yes — the 2024 Tesla Model X earns a user rating of 5/5, which points to strong owner approval. It is a large, family-focused electric SUV with two- and three-row seating, room for up to seven passengers, and a practical mission that still feels distinctive thanks to its Falcon Wing rear doors. It also brings a long list of standard equipment, including all-wheel drive, heated seats, adaptive suspension, navigation, Wi-Fi connectivity, and a premium 17-speaker audio system. For you, that means the appeal is strongest if you want a premium EV SUV with advanced tech and a more unusual design than a conventional three-row crossover. 26.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2024 Tesla Model X reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The 2024 Model X is described as a large, family-focused electric SUV with a broad standard-equipment list and a modern cabin setup. Its appeal comes from strong range, fast acceleration, and advanced technology, while its drawbacks are more about usability than outright complexity. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the vehicle has been well cared for, since premium EV features and unique hardware can be costly if they need attention.
What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Tesla Model X?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should start with the history report so you can confirm the car’s background before you get too far into the process. After that, prioritize a thorough inspection of the Falcon Wing doors, cabin condition, and any signs that the vehicle has been used heavily as a family hauler. Because this model leans on advanced tech and premium equipment, you should focus on how everything operates in real-world use, not just how the car looks in photos.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Tesla Model X?
Act selectively, because this is still a seller’s market and the best listings can move quickly.
- Deal availability: 26.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 469 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices are up 9.87% year-over-year.
- Clean inventory: 88.5% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $65,248.63, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2024 Tesla Model X's resale value?
The current average of $71,720 sits slightly above last year's $65,276.
That price movement suggests the market has remained firm, which can help support resale value if you buy carefully and keep the vehicle in strong condition. For a future seller, a model year with rising prices can be a positive sign because it indicates ongoing buyer interest. The strongest resale outcomes usually come from well-kept examples that stand out on condition and history.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2024 Tesla Model X or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 26.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices are up 9.87% year-over-year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line:
If you want the current-year version with strong owner approval, a healthy share of clean inventory, and a market that still shows demand, the 2024 Model X is the primary path to consider. If your priority is stretching your budget, a nearby year may be worth a look, but you should still compare condition, history, and pricing carefully so you do not give up too much value for a small savings difference.
